Now available on digital and streaming platforms (Fandango at Home/Vudu, Paramount+, Sky Store, MUBI and Plex) is the thriller Blood Star.
Blood Star stars Britni Camacho, John Schwab, Sydney Brumfield, Travis Lincoln Cox, Felix Merback, and Wyomi Reed.
Bobbie (Camacho) is a young woman driving through New Mexico on her way to be with her abusive boyfriend.
At a rest stop getting gas, Bobbie meets Sheriff Bilstein (Schwab). Their initial interaction was creepy to say the least.
A few miles up the road, Bobbie encounter Sheriff Bilstein again, but this time he has her pulled over for speeding and causing damage to his vehicle.
Bobbie soon learns that the Sheriff is actually a psychopath. For the remainder of the film, Bobbie does everything in her power to escape from him and trying desperatly to make it across the boarder before he captures her again – and kills her.
To find out if Bobbie can make it to safety, check out the film Blood Star.
The story of someone trying to outrun a psychopath in a vehicle is nothing new (Hitcher, Jeepers Creepers, Joy Ride, Black Dog). If you are into that kind of a film, you will enjoy Bloodstar. I do like that Bloodstar added some new twists to this type of storyline.
Kudos to John Schwab for portraying the psycho Sheriff Bilstein. Honestly, if I encountered him at the gas station like Bobbie did, I would have turned around and found another way to my destination. There is NO WAY I would want to cross paths with him again. He oozed the “creep factor.”
I also think that Britini Camacho did a fantastic job in the role of Bobbie. She pretty much carried the whole movie. He was perfect in this role, and very convincing.
The ending of the film I never saw coming. I had my suspicions as to how it would end, but I was very wrong. I especially liked what Bobbie did to fool the sheriff at the end of the film. She fooled me too!
Be forewarned if you don’t like blood and gore. There are particularly violent and bloody scenes.
If you are looking for a new film to check out, instead of boring repeats, check out Blood Star. Look for it at the sources mentioned at the start of this post.
