As most of my faithful followers know, I love horror movies. Horror movies are my favorite genre of movies, followed by comedies. Go figure… I go from one extreme to the next. Sadly, most horror movies put out these days are comical to me and other diehard horror movie fans. They just don’t make them like they used to (The Shining, The Exorcist...).
I recently watched a film with my husband, which I THOUGHT was horror-movie like (based on the trailer), perhaps with a LITTE humor mixed in. That was not the case at al. In fact, I don’t even know how to classify the film. It doesn’t seem to fit into any known genre. It is comical, but not in the “ha ha” sort of way.
The movie is called Bullets of Justice. One of it’s stars is Danny Trejo.
Here is the description.
In the post-apocalyptic aftermath of World War 3, an army of half-human half-pig super-soldiers takes over the world. Created by the American government, this “Bacon Army” got out of control and now occupies the top of the food chain – farming humans as its favorite food. Rob Justice is an ex-bounty hunter working with the last line of human resistance – a group of survivors hiding in a nuclear bunker deep underground. It is up to Justice to figure out how to destroy them, and liberate humankind.
Humm… post-apocalyptic…half-pig super soldiers…human survivors… it has the making of a cool horror movie. Perhaps even Sci-Fi.
Nope. Words cannot describe this totally trippy, over-the-top, insane film.
In addition to Danny Trejo, Bullets of Justice also stars Timur Turisbekov, Yana Marinova, Dessy Slavova, Doroteya Toleva, and Ester Chardaklieva. It’s directed by Valeri Milev and was written by Milev and Timur Turisbekov. Honestly, I am not familiar with any of these names.
This film had the potential to be super cool, however, that is not the direction the film went. Instead, it left my husband and I scratching our heads as to what did we just watch?
My husband and I spent the entire film questioning what was happening on screen, and why. Such as, why does Rob’s sister sport a full-blown mustache? Why is there a tiny Hitler-like robot? How can people just walk past pigs without being noticed (do they NOT see them as human)? And what in the world is up with Rob’s fantasy of a man with long hair wearing a male thong, that likes to do ninja moves and interruptive dance?
Sheesh! Just thinking about it makes my head spin.
I use the term “entertaining” sparingly with this film. My husband and I spent more time trying to figure things out more so than just watching the film.
This film is NOT for everyone. I’ve seen all kinds of films with various grossness and “questionable content,” but this film takes the place. There is full frontal nudity (both female and male), male genitalia used to conceal a gun, pooping man-pigs, a lot of sex (including incest), and graphic content (blood, guts…). The film is really raunchy.
This film is wild and “trippy,” to say the least.
I honestly didn’t like the film, and I won’t watch it again. It just wasn’t my “cup of tea,” but that doesn’t mean that other people won’t love it. Perhaps other people find that kind of weird sense of humor hysterically funny. Just not me (or my husband). But that’s OK. I have yet to get into the Godfather films, and they are one of the most popular film franchises. To each his own.
The film does have an unstoppable festival run, including its World Premiere at FrightFest, and screenings at SITGES Film Festival, Obscura Film Festival Berlin, Hexploitation Film Festival, and Morbido Film Fest, among others. So people DO love this film.
Below is the film’s trailer. PLEASE NOTE that this trailer is not for everyone, so please view with caution.
