Coming to digital on Tuesday, September 23, 2024, is the suspenseful/comedy/thriller, Clawfoot.
Clawfoot stars Francesca Eastwood (Clint Eastwood’s daughter) and Milo Gibson (Mel Gibson’s son). In addition the film stars Olivia Culpo, Oliver Cooper and Nester Carbonell.
Janet (Eastwood), is a married woman whose husband was off on a business trip. Unbeknown to her, her husband hired a contractor, Leo (Gibson), to renovate her bathroom. One of the items to be installed is a clawfoot tub, something Janet DOESN’T like.
Leo and his assistant, Samuel (Cooper), help themselves to every where in the home, as well as to anything else they can find.
Janet is increasingly suspicious of the whole situation and doesn’t want them there, regardless of them being hired by her husband or not.
When everything else fails, Janet turns to her lawyer friend Tasha (Culpo) who offers Janet some unconventional ideas.
What is REALLY going on in this situation? Is Janet’s husband Evan (Carbonell) really on a business trip? Was Leo actually hired by Evan to remodel the bathroom? Or is there something more sinister going on “behind the scenes?” To find out, check out Clawfoot. Look for it on digital starting September 24, 2024.
This is an odd film with a lot of twists and turns that I didn’t expect.
Eastwood does a fantastic job as Janet. She looks like just a rich, stay-at-home housewife (dare I say she LOOKS like she could be a “dumb blonde”), but there is a lot more to her than meets the eye. Janet has a whole other side to her that is completely unexpected. She’s a beautiful woman too (those big blue eyes!).
Gibson LOOKS like he’s a nice guy – someone you’d want to hang out with in your backyard while barbecuing – but just like how it is with Janet, there is more going on behind his friendly smile than you’d expect too. He looks a lot like his father. I didn’t put two and two together until I started to write this review.
The first half of the film is a bit slow, but I guess you can call that a “slow burn,” because the last part of the film is where all the action occurs.
Some might say this is a comedy, rather a black comedy. Meaning is comedy, but with a darker/evil-like undertones. I personally didn’t laugh, but I can see that there were parts where others might have found it funny.
If you are not a fan of blood you might want to steer clear of this one, because you will see a lot of it.
This is definitely an interesting film. I did keep me entertained from start to finish (even with it’s slow burn). I don’t think I would add this to my family’s movie collection, but if I happened across it on a premium channel one day, I would most likely stop and watch it again.
Below is the film’s trailer for your entertainment.
