Available in theaters across the country, as well as On Demand, is the romantic film, Float.
The film is released by Lionsgate.
Float stars Andrea Bang, Robbie Amell, Michelle Krusiec, and Andrew Bachelor.
Waverly (Andrea Bang) thought she had her future figured out. She’d start her medical residency in Toronto after a summer visit to her parents in Taipei. When her plans are suddenly changed, she makes an impulsive detour to a small Canadian town, where she meets local lifeguard Blake (Robbie Amell). After he saves her from nearly drowning at a beach party, Blake offers to teach Waverly to swim, and as the lessons continue, the two unexpectedly find themselves falling in love. But will Blake’s ties to his past and Waverly’s plans to begin a new job keep them apart once summer ends?
Float is based on a novel written by Kate Marchant. The novel is available on Amazon (I checked).
I wish I could find out where this film was made. The cinematography really adds to this film. The location is absolutely stunning. I know it’s suppose to be a small island (assuming in Canada), but I cannot find the location where it was actually filmed.
This is a classic girl meets boy, they become friends, they fall in love, something happens to tear them apart and will they get back together and live happily ever after. That formula works for a lot of films, especially romantic film (the Hallmark movie channel uses this formula with every movie they show). There is nothing wrong with this at all. Rarely do I see romantic films that deviate from this formula.
This film gave me Nicholas Sparks vibes.
I’d like to say that this film was predictable, but the ending was different than what I was expecting, in a good way.
The acting in this film is wonderful. I am not familiar with Andrea Bang, but I have seen several films that Robbie Amell has been in. He’s definitely “eye candy.”
I really enjoyed all the characters in this film, not just the main character (Waverly and Blake), but also Waverly’s aunt and the people who owned the local restaurant where Waverly ends up getting a summer job. All the characters are very likeable.
I found this film to be very relatable, in a way. I am sure many people feel a burden in their lives and want to run away and escape life’s stresses, at least until you can figure things out. That is how I feel on a daily basis. I wish I could escape to the little town that Waverly ends up in (her aunt lives there).
To be honest, now that I have seen this film I am curious to see if the book is similar. The book has 4.4 stars on Amazon.
The film is rated PG-13 and has a run time of one hour and forty minutes.
I really enjoyed this film. I found that it kept my interest from start to finish and I was really invested into the characters and I was rooting for them to have a happy ending.
You can find Float in select theaters across the country. It’s also available to rent/purchase on digital.
