Now available on digital such as Amazon, Prime Video, Fandango at Home and Apple TV is the sequel to a popular Disney film, Freaky Friday, appropriately titled Freakier Friday. The film will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and 4K Ultra on November 11, 2025.
Freakier Friday brings back the original stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Lindsay Lohan, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murry and Ryan Malgarini (he played Lindsay Lohan’s brother in the original film). Freakier Friday also stars Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons and Manny Jacinto.
Fast forward many years from the original film. Anna (Lohan) is a single mother to a teenage daughter Harper (Butters). Thankfully she has help raising Harper from her mom Tess (Curtis) and stepfather Ryan (Harmon).
Raising a teenager is hard enough, but it’s made even worse when Anna meets Eric (Jacinto) and the two have a whirlwind relationship and now find themselves about to be married.
Eric is also a single parent to a teen girl the same age as Harper named Lily (Hammons). She is also going through the challenging teen years the same as Harper.
The whole pending marriage is causing problems between Tess and Anna and the girls Harper and Lily. Harper and Lily cannot stand each other, let alone think of becoming step-sisters.
Tess and Anna soon discover that lightening does strike twice when they find themselves switched with Harper and Lily, and vice versa. Let the craziness ensue…

Will Anna be able to switch back before the wedding, or will they find themselves trapped in another body forever. To find out, check out Freakier Friday. Look for it on digital and soon on other platforms.
I will admit that I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch this film or not. I really liked the original film and sometimes sequels cannot live up to the original. So I did have a bit of a bias going in when I started to watch Freakier Friday. I’m sure other people understand what I mean by this.
My husband didn’t want to watch this film at all. He was afraid it would “tarnish” the original some how. It’s okay because football was on anyway. Of course he would choose football over a movie (ha ha).
I’m really impressed that they were able to bring back the original characters. I knew Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis were going to be in this film, but I was never expecting Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murry and Ryan Malgarini, whose not her “little brother” anymore (in real life he’s 33 years old! Yikes!).
Casting for the other characters was pretty good. I think Butters and Hammons (Harper and Lily) especially did a great job in their roles. They came across as typical teenagers, especially considering that in real life they ARE only teenagers (Butters is 16 and Hammons is 18). Their despise of one other also came across clearly in their acting. For young actresses they did an outstanding job. I am sure we’ll see more of them in the future.
I’ll admit that it did get a bit crazy (or perhaps I should say “freaky”) keeping up with “who is who” after they switched. Tess swapped with Lily and Anna swapped with Harper. So for more of the movie the young ones were trying to find a way to switch back and the older ones (who were really the teens) were certainly not acting their “internal age,” dressing like teens and even giving Curtis’ character a make over (similar in the original film).

Speaking of the original film, Anna’s band, Pink Slip, also makes an appearance in this film, but I’m not sure if it’s the original actors or not.
Overall I enjoyed the film. It was nice to see the characters again and even though I still lean toward the original film as my favorite, I think the film makers still did a good job on this film. Often sequels flop, but I don’t think this one is so bad.
The film does have some bonus content you might want to check out.
