Now on digital, Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD is the next installment in the Ghostbusters movie franchise, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
The film brings back all the original stars from the previous films, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, McKenna Grace, and “oldies, but goodies,” Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Annie Potts. New faces include Emily Alyn Lind and Kumail Ali Nanjiani.
In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the the Spengler family is back in New York City where Ghostbusters began. They are even using the same firehouse the original Ghostbusters used in the original films.
The family continue to chase ghosts around to try and capture them, sometimes to the dismay of the city who finds themselves having to clean up after them.
When it it found out that Phoebe is underaged and using deadly devices to help capture ghosts, she is essentially forced to stop being a Ghostbuster and start living like a normal teenager. Phoebe cannot stop being a Ghostbuster. It’s in her blood after all.
The Ghostbusters also face other challenges, from trying to find storage for all the ghosts they have captured, to an ancient artifact that reaps havoc on the city. They also learn about a secret lab and Phoebe befriends a ghost instead of putting her away in the vault.
So much awaits the Ghostbusters, and fans, in the latest installment in the Ghostbusters movie franchise. To find out if the Ghostbusters can save the day once again, or have they met their match once and for all, check out Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Look for it where ever you purchase or rent movies.
If you a fan of the original Ghostbusters films, you will be thrilled to see the Ghostbuster car back inside the firehouse, just as it was in the original films. Even the fault they put the captured ghosts in is the same. I think it’s great that they brought the Spengler family back to New York. New York City is where Ghostbusters belongs.
I love that all the original Ghostbusters are back, and have more of a role in this film whereas in Ghostbusters: Afterlife, they only showed up briefly at the end of the film. It’s too bad Harrold Ramis wasn’t still to join them. I was pleasantly surprised to see Annie Potts in this film too.
Not that it’s related to the film, I must say, Ernie Hudson looks great for a man whose 78. He looks like he’s in his 50’s.
The evil ghost in this film reminds me of a similar devil-like character from another film, but for the life of me I cannot place it. My son joked that his horns looked like that of a Texas Longhorn. When you see the film you’ll see what he’s talking about.
Our son has never seen any Ghostbuster film, not even the originals. He’s also not one to watch movies (literally, even as a kid). He actually sat through this entire film and didn’t walk away. Normally he’ll sit with me and my husband for a bit, then walk away and do his own thing. It appeared as if he was actually engrossed in this film. I never asked him about it, but the fact that he sat there through almost the entire film (he missed the beginning), I find very interesting. I guess that is a telling sign that he enjoyed the film.
The plot in this film. The idea of Garraka (the main evil ghost/spirit they fight at the end) does seem a bit far-fetched, but then again, we’re talking about a group of people who capture ghosts for a living. If that isn’t far-fetched in it’s self, then I don’t know what is. Ha Ha.
The acting was great, as always. I always enjoy seeing Paul Rudd in films too.
I like that this film lends it’s way to the possibility of other Ghostbuster films. I’m not sure if the original cast will be in it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they made guest appearances.
I watched the digital version of the film. I do have the Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD and Digital set. I haven’t had the opportunity to view any of the bonus content yet. I normally do because I love to learn all the behind-the-scenes stuff about films. My favorite are the gag reels. I’m not a fan of commentaries though.
