Now available on Blu-ray, DVD, Ultra 4K and digital, is the drama, House of Gucci.
House of Gucci features a stellar cast including Lady Gaga, Jared Leto, Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Salma Hayek, and Jeremy Irons.
If you were to ask me what I knew about the name “Gucci,” I would only be able to tell you that it was an expensive fashion brand. While that is true, there is A LOT more about that name, or should I say that family, then I ever knew before seeing this film.
Patrizia (Gaga) works in the office of her father’s trucking company. While at a party she meets a young man named Maurizio (Driver), who happens to be the son of Rodolfo Gucci (Irons), the creator and head of Gucci fashion house.
Patrizia knows what she wants, and she wants Maurizio because he stands to inherti 50% of the house of Gucci. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants.
Rodolfo can see who Patrizia really is, and warns Maurizio that if he marries her, he’ll lose his inheritance. Maurizio goes against his father and marries Patrizia because he loves her.
When Patrizia becomes pregnant, she sees it as a way to get back into the Gucci family’s good graces, and hopefully get back into the will. Thanks to Maurizio’s uncle Aldo (Pacino), Maurizio and his father reconcile before he passes away.
Maurizio’s 50% of the house of Gucci is not enough for Patrizia. She wants it all, and she’s not wiling to let anything stand in her way – even if it means murder for hire.
This film has it all, love, revenge, adultery, drama… you name it. If you think the name Gucci just represents high end fashion, there is a lot more to that then meets the eye.
To be honest, I was curious about this film because of the stars involved in it. I didn’t know anything else about the Gucci name. I just saw how many celebrities were in this film, so I figured it was worth checking out.
Lady Gaga (whose real name is Stefani Germanotta) sure can act. I’ve never seen her in any movies (I’ve never seen A Star is Born), but I have seen her in American Horror Story. Just like with her “persona’s” when she’s singing, Lady Gaga can change herself to turn into any role she plays. Take for example this role. I had a hard time believing it was the same lady who showed up at an awards show inside a giant egg, and wore a literal “meat dress” to another one.
Sorry Lady Gaga, but I couldn’t help thinking about how much you reminded me of the actress Delta Burke in this film. I guess it was the big hair.
Jared Leto – WOW! He’s another actor who is like a Chameleon when it comes to acting. If you haven’t seen this film yet, you will be SHOCKED at how he looks. It doesn’t even look like him!
I wouldn’t be shocked if Leto wins awards for his role in this film. His character added some humor to this film.
This film was directed by Ridley Scott, who has so many epic films under his belt. House of Gucci is no exception.
I like how true to the era the fashions and hair styles were. This film stars out in the late 1970’s, so there is plenty of big hair and big glasses (LOL).
I love where ever this film was filmed (Italy)? I can only assume so. It looks amazing. Right after watching this I wanted to book a trip there. It looks like an amazing place.
The “accents” were a little unbelievable at times, but I didn’t get too hung up on that. After all, I highly doubt I could effectively sound Italian, even if I tried my best.
My only complaint is that this film ran a little longer than I think it should have. This film has a run time of two hours and thirty eight minutes. I think that is at least a half hour too long. I only say that because my husband watched this film with me and he started to get a bit “antsy” close to the two hour mark.
