Coming to theaters nationwide November 1, 2024 is the inspiring story based on real life events called Lost on a Mountain in Maine.
The film was produced by Sylvester Stallone (and others), directed by Andrew Boodhoo Kightlinger and written by Luke Paradise.
Lost on a Mountain in Maine stars Luke David Blumm (“The Watcher”), Paul Sparks (“House of Cards”), Caitlin FitzGerald (The Trial of the Chicago 7, “Succession”), Griffin Wallace Henkel (Armageddon Time), Ethan Slater (Universal’s upcoming Wicked).
Twelve year old Donn (Blumm) has been looking forward to a week long fishing trip with his father Donald (Sparks) and brother Ryan (Henkel). His joy was quickly dismissed when his father informs the family that he’s going away for work… again. Dad is absent a lot due to his job, and when he is home he’s very strict with the kids.
To make it up to his sons, Donald decides to take them on a weekend hike up Mount Katahdin, the highest point in the state of Maine. This is not exactly what Donn had in mind.
During the hours long hike up the mountain the weather, which is unpredictable at that elevation, starts getting bad. Instead of returning to camp with his father and younger brother, Donn and his brother Ryan, along with a guide, press on.

This film is based on the true life story of Donn Fendler who back in 1939 was lost on the mountain in Maine. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 89.
Throughout this film you will see actual interviews with the family the film is based on. I liked that element to the film. It made you think about what you saw in the movie and how it really happened.
This is your typical fight for survival in the woods sort of movie, but it still has some original elements to it. The fact that it’s based on a true story makes it more interesting. What transpires on the screen really happened, so you won’t see any unrealistic situations, if you know what I mean.
The acting was good. Kudos to young Luke David Blumm. He carried a good chunk of the film on his own.
The scenery is not only breathtaking, but also scary. I could not imagine trying to fight for survival under such conditions on my own, and I’m an adult, not a 12-year old. The fact that he survived is amazing.
This is an inspiring film. It’s about not giving up, family, and overcoming even the most extreme obstacles.
This film has a run time of an hour and thirty-nine minutes. The film is rated PG.
