Coming to a theater near you (New York, Chicago, Detroit, LA and San Francisco areas) on Friday, August 11, 2023, is the romantic comedy (aka “rom-com”) Match Me if You Can. The film will also be available on Amazon and iTunes on August 11th as well.
The film stars Georgia Reilly and Wilson Bethel.
I am VERY grateful that I am happily married (27 years and counting). I don’t think I could survive dating in today’s world. I am not one to go home with a random stranger I met at a bar (I’m not into bars or clubs to begin with), and I would be too afraid of meeting an unknown person (or even a “catfish”) on a dating app. No way! I think I would be single for the rest of my life (known as a “crazy cat lady” for sure).
Kip Parsons (Reilly) is a single, working professional. She is great friends with her co-workers, and has a “best friend” who is a hermit crab (a real one, not a cartoon or imaginary one).
Kip just can’t meet the right guys. They tend to “ghost” her after dates.
One night, while online (and getting drunk), Kip stumbles across a popular match making sight called “I Promise.” The site promises it will find you matches and potential dates.
After answering a whopping 500 questions, Kip passes out.
The next day, without remembering much, Kip receives and email from the dating site. They found her ZERO matches. She is technically “unmatchable.” The email even suggested she get a dog since she won’t find a potential love partner.
Kip is also a personal blogger. She has two followers and both of them are her mother. Kip blogs about her rejection from the site. For some crazy reason the post goes viral and Kip becomes an overnight sensation.
Its during this time that Kip happens to meet a guy she has a connection with, the only problem is that he’s not exactly the person she wants in her life.
Who is the mystery man? Why will Kip be upset when she finds out his true identity? To find out, go see Match Me if You Can. Look for it at a theater near you.
This is a cute movie, for lack of a better description. It doesn’t star any big names, but the actors do a great job in their roles.
My husband watched this with me and he said it has Hallmark movie written all over it. In a way I agree with him. If you like Hallmark movies, then you should enjoy this film. It doesn’t have the dreamy sequences of people, places, things and events like a Hallmark movie, but it does have that same vibe.
The film is a bit “cheesy” at times. Let’s just say the film won’t be up for an Academy Award, but that is okay with me. It’s meant to be silly and lighthearted. You are meant to have a good time watching it.
The scene with the Puffer Fish is funny. That is probably the best part of the film. And Kip having a “best friend” who is a Hermit Crab was a unique twist as well.
