I have been a long time fan of Scooby-Doo. I have been watching the cartoon since I was a child. It was part of my Saturday mornings where I would sit for hours and watch cartoons before heading outside looking for adventure. Oh how I miss those days.
It’s great to see that a few of my beloved cartoons are “alive and well” and still cranking out new episodes and movies 30+ years later. Scooby-Doo has been around since 1969!
Scooby-Doo will be releasing TODAY (March 25, 2014) it’s latest adventure – Scooby-Doo WrestleMania Mystery. It’s available on DVD where most movies are sold. It’s available on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, DVD and Digital HD. Normally I watch the Blu-ray version of movies I am sent to review. This time I only watched the DVD because I was traveling and unable to access my Blu-ray player. I am sure the movie is the same (except the quality is different).
When Shaggy and Scooby win tickets to WrestleMania, they convince the entire Mystery Inc. gang to travel to WWE City in the Mystery Machine to enjoy the show. But the trip quickly turns into another mystery as WWE City is full of secrets! A mysterious ghostly bear appears and threatens to ruin the show and steal the championship title belt. With the help of WWE Superstars John Cena, Triple H, Sin Cara, Brodus Clay, AJ Lee, The Miz, Santino Marella and Kane, Scooby-Doo and The Mystery Inc. gang team up to solve the case before it is too late!
WWE Superstars John Cena, Triple H, Sin Cara, Brodus Clay, AJLee, The Miz, Santino and Kane will appear in animated form, lending their voices to this action-packed animated film. WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon will also lend his voice and appear in animated form.
It was interesting to see the animated versions of these popular wrestlers. I don’t watch WWE so am not sure what the wrestlers are supposed to look like, nor was I able to tell them apart. I’m sure a WWE fan can easily identify which wrestler was which.
I would think this would be more of a “boy” movie but if you have a daughter/granddaughter who loves wrestling, or even Scooby-Doo, they might enjoy this film too.
I would think this film would be a little too scary, intense and violent (due to the wrestling moves) for little ones. There is a “Ghost Bear” in the movie that might be too scary for little ones to see. Only you know your child/grandchild best to know if they can handle it. Older kids on the other hand will probably love this movie because it’s loaded with WWE stuff and plenty of action, adventure and excitement.
Normally I can figure out who the bad guy is early on. I had my suspicions with this film but it turns out I was wrong.
This is not a cartoon either – this is a full length movie (over 120 minutes!).
There are bonus features too including a behind the scenes look at voicing the movie with the WWE cast members and a short animated clip called A Pup Named Scooby-Doo.
Look for Scooby-Doo WrestleMania Mystery where ever movies are sold.
I have a few activities your child/grandchild might enjoy including two coloring pages and an animated “Spot the Difference” game.
Click on the images (below) to bring up a larger image of the coloring pages that you can save and print out at your convenience.
Also for your enjoyment here is the movie’s trailer.
