Available today on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD is the film Steve Jobs – an up-close-and-personal look at the founder of Apple, a remarkable creative genius whose vow to put computers in the hands of ordinary people changed the world.
The film stars Michael Fassbender (Steve Jobs), Kate Winslet (Joanna Hoffman), Seth Rogen (Steve Wozniak), Katherine Waterston (Chrisann Brennan) and Jeff Daniels (John Scully).
There is no denying that Steve Jobs changed the world forever. How many people do you know (perhaps even yourself) who have their iPhone or iPad “glued” to their hands 24/7? The technology he helped to bring to life is astounding and something that seemed inconceivable a decade or so ago.
The film, Steve Jobs, gives movie goes a “behind the scenes” look at the life of Steve Jobs and how he brought Apple to life.
The film focuses on three specific times in Steve Job’s life – the launch of Apple Mac in 1984, his NeXT computer in 1988 and finally, the iMac in 1998.
To be honest, I didn’t know much about Steve Jobs until now. I have never read a book about him, nor did I see the Ashton Kutcher Steve Jobs film either. I didn’t realize just how wound up and intense Steve Jobs was. I’m sure trying to bring amazing technology to the masses is stressing enough, but he went above and beyond that.
I have heard of people like Steven Wozniak and John Sculley, but I really didn’t know what their roles were in the Apple empire.
I didn’t know that he had a daughter, nor that he denied paternity for many years. That was a side of him I never knew about. The film focuses a lot on his relationship between his daughter Lisa and her mother, Chrisann Brennan.
It was interesting to see the “old” computers. They were so big and bulky. We’ve certainly come a long way with that technology.
The film does not go up to his death. It ends in 1998 when he unveils the iMac.
This film is a docu-drama. It gives viewers a glimpse into the life of Steve Jobs and at the same time it shows viewers a side of Steve Job that most people probably never knew about.
Michael Fassbender did an amazing job. He tends to really put himself into the characters he plays (have you seen him in the movie Frank?). He may not look much like Steve Jobs, but he sure has his intensity.
Kate Winslet also did an amazing job. She’s up for Best Supporting Actress for her role in this film. I would not be shocked if she won an Oscar for it. She already won the Golden Globe for her role in this film.
After seeing this film I look at my iPhone and iPad a bit differently. They have forever changed our lives and the way we communicate with one another.
