Available now on digital platforms is the sequel to the horror film The Nun, appropriately titled The Nun II. The film will be available on Blu-ray, DVD and Ultra 4K on November 14, 2023.
The film is released by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The Nun II stars Taissa Farmiga, Jonas Bloquet, Bonnie Aarons, Storm Reid, Katelyn Rose Downey, and Anna Popplewell.
The Nun II picks up some years after the original film. Sister Irene (Farmiga) now serves at a convent in Italy along side Sister Debra (Reid).
After some disturbing events that happened in France, and across Europe, the Vatican has called Sister Irene for her help. They believe the events are due to the demon Valak (Aarons). Sister Irene is the only one who has experience with the demon, so they need her help in getting to the bottom of it.
Sister Irene travels around Europe with Sister Debra. During this time, Maurice, who experienced Valak along side Sister Irene a few years back, is now a handyman at a boarding school in France.
Evil things are happening at the boarding school, and it’s believe Valak is behind them.
What is the connection to all of this? Is Valak now at the boarding school? If so, what does Valak want there? To find out, check out The Nun II. Look for it on digital now, and on other platforms coming November 14, 2023.
I wasn’t sure if I liked the original film better than this film or not. Initially I thought the original film was better, but by the end, I think this one has a lot more going on than the first film in the franchise.
I like the story line. I like that it added more to the story of Valak, who she is and why she’s so angry with God.
The way the film ended, I would not be surprised if there is another film in the franchise, and if so, I wonder if it will add more to the story of Valak.
I like that they brought back the original actors for Sister Irene and Maurice. It gives the film more continuity than it would if they used all new actors.
The young actors in this film, especially young Miss. Downey, did an excellent job, especially considering this is a horror movie. I wonder if they young actors found any of the scenes too scary to act in?
Fun fact… The Nun and Conjuring films are in the same movie franchise. Taissa Farmiga (Sister Irene) is the younger sister of Vera Farmiga (Lorraine Warren).
As for special effects, this film does have some pretty amazing special effects. I LOVE the goat character. That was probably my favorite. I wish the demon goat got more screen time.
I’m not one to get scared. I am a dire hard horror movie fan, so am pretty “numb” to a lot of scary scenes and jump scares. With that being said, if you are easily scared and you fly out of your seat at jump scares, then you might want to skip this film. I think it would be pretty scary for novice horror movie watchers. There are some decent jump scares too.
The acting is just as good as the original film.
