Oh how I love to sleep! I would sleep all day if possible (it’s not of course). I’m more of a “night owl”. I have more energy at night then I do during the day. My daughter is a lot like me. My husband and my son on the other hand feel that the day needs to start at the crack of dawn. Ugh! No way!
My son was always a horrible sleeper. He still is. He just never sleeps. What amazes me is that he’ll come strolling out of his room at 5 AM and want to start the day. No way! It’s even worst now with the sunrise starting earlier and earlier. As soon as he sees even the tiniest bit of sunlight he “assumes” it’s OK to come out of his room. He’s always been like this.
Right now our neighbors are dealing with a similar situation. Their daughter refuses to sleep in her own room and comes out of her room all night long. The poor parents are so tired!
There is a MUST have product for any parent who has a child who has issues going to bed and staying in bed. It’s called My Tot Clock (http://www.mytotclock.com/).
My Tot Clock is an adorable all-in-one alarm clock, night light, story teller, music player and sleep aid for children ages 2+. The face of the clock changes color to represent time to go to bed (blue) and time to get up (yellow). This is great for little ones who cannot tell time. My Tot Clock has different cartridges you can purchase separately of bedtime stories, lullabies, cute music and even “white noise”.
My Tot Clock even has a red light you can use for “time out” and blue light for nap time. There is also a green light you can use for some other kind of activity (they recommend a “positive activity”).
The clock is a really nice size. Not too big and not too small. You can use both batteries or an included electrical plug so you can put My Tot Clock anywhere that it’s convenient for you. I really like that you have a choice. Often you don’t have a choice with clocks.
My Tot Clock was super easy to set up. It does come with directions too. I thought it would be hard when I saw all the stuff on the back, but it was super duper easy. My ‘tween could have set it up for me.
The music is adorable! And I LOVE the sound cartridge we have (“Welcome to Children’s Dreamland”). I can easily see how this is a favorite feature of the clock for parents and children alike.
We used every clock function and the clock does do everything that it says it does and more! By more I mean my son now has a new appreciation for “time” and even though he’s a bit on the older end of the scale for this clock he actually lied in bed one morning waiting for the face to turn yellow before coming out of the room. How nice is that!
I love how the buttons on top of the clock are all different colors. Once you know what each color stands for it makes using the clock a breeze. Even all the function buttons on the back are labeled to make it easy for you to set the clock for whatever you want it to do.
The front of the clock has hour and minute hands and the back of the clock has a digital clock which makes it a lot easier to set the times as far as sleep time and wake up time.
You even have the option of making the night time blue light dimmer or brighter to suit your child’s preferences. My son liked it brighter so he could use that instead of the nightlight.
I used the “green” positive light for reading. I set it up so that my son needed to read for the time the face was green. My son is not overly keen on reading so it helped me show him how long he needed to read. So far it’s working great.
This is an amazing clock. It serves so many great functions all in one super adorable package. You can even purchase additional face plates to make you child’s room decor or tastes including sports, dinosaurs, butterflies and my personal favorite the barnyard.
This would make a great gift for a baby shower or new parents too. It’s never too early to have My Tot Clock on hand.
