Are you bored with the meals you make for breakfast, lunch and/or dinner? My family sure is. Just like we’re bored with watching reruns after reruns on television during the summer months (thank goodness for streaming services).
With the summer heat being brutal (as always), the last thing I want to do is spend a lot of time in the hot kitchen. We don’t have a window in the kitchen, and there is no cross breeze. The less time we spend in the kitchen the better. That is why we tend to make meals that are either quick and easy to make (like salads and sandwiches) or we use our crockpot. That way I can just dump all the ingredients in, turn it on and flee the kitchen before I start to sweat. Sadly, we’re even bored with what we make in the crockpot.
We have an air fryer. We’ve had it for about a year. It’s awesome, but we tend to use it to cook fries, onion rings and roasted potatoes. We never really tried anything else. I know the air fryer can be used to cook a variety of meals.
When it comes to cooking, the less involved the better. That includes ingredients too. The last thing I want when I’m rushing to make dinner is preparing a meal that requires a lot of ingredients that I don’t have on hand.
I was recently sent two great recipe books to check out – I Love My Air Fryer 5-Ingredient Recipe Book and I Love My Instant Pot® Cooking for One Recipe Book.

I am so grateful for this book. Most of the ingredients we already have/had and/or the are easily obtained. I didn’t come across any recipe that required some weird, hard to find ingredient either. I didn’t read ALL the recipes, but the ones I did didn’t have complex ingredients.
I didn’t know that you can make SO MANY THINGS in an air fryer. Did you know you can make hard boiled eggs? I didn’t. And you know what – it works! You can also crisp bacon.
In addition to breakfast items, you can cook “pigs in a blanket.” I didn’t know the air fryer would make them so easy to make (I took them to a graduation party last Saturday).
You can “roast” vegetables in the air fryer, such as broccoli and carrots (I’m working on figuring out what seasoning I like best on the carrots). One of the things I want to try next is zucchini fries.
As for dinners, we’ve done chicken meatballs. The recipe is for buffalo chicken meatballs, but no one like buffalo, so I use barbecue sauce instead.
There is a recipe for toasted ravioli that we haven’t tried yet, but we’ve “dog eared” that page as well. In fact, we have about 7 or 8 pages dog eared.
There are so many easy recipes to choose from, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, appetizers and desserts.
It’s great to have new recipes to try, and being able to cook without standing around a hot kitchen. We just add what we need to into the air fryer and cook according to directions. You can’t get any easier than that.

I have not tried anything in this book – yet. We don’t have an Instapot. It’s on our list of things to get, we just haven’t purchased one yet.
This book is full of recipes for ONE person. I’m going to double them when it’s me and my husband for dinner. If any of my kids are home from dinner, I’ll adjust the recipes accordingly.
I’ve flipped through the pages. As it is with the cookbook for the air fryer, there are recipes in this book for breakfasts, soups, chowders, lunch, dinner, side dishes and even desserts for one.
Almost every recipe I saw (especially the ones I’d like to eventually try) have very few ingredients. Even the ones that appear to have a lot are more so seasoning and spices (1/4 teaspoon of this, 1/3 a tablespoon of that). I don’t really look at seasonings as “ingredients,” but that is just me.
If you are like me and my family, and you are looking to try out new recipes because you are bored with the same old stuff, or you just want to find a quick and easy way to cook using your air fryer and/or Instapot, then you’ll want to check out these books.
The books are published by Simon & Schuster. Information about these and other books from the “I Love My…” series can be found on their website. They also tell you where the books can be purchased (Amazon, Barnes & Noble…).
Do you use an air fryer? What about an Insatapot? What are your favorite things to make with them? Feel free to comment and share your thoughts. I always love to hear from readers.
