I am so happy that the nicer weather is finally here. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not a fan of the heat and humidity that comes with the summer months. I’m referring to the spring time weather where you can go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine without having to sweat like crazy and wish you were back inside with the air conditioner on.
I am of Welsh, Irish, Scottish and Norwegian decent. People like me are not known for their glowing tans. That is because people of my decent are fair skinned. The sun and fair skinned people are not a good combination.
My husband is 100% Italian. He just has to look at the sun and suddenly he has beautiful, glowing skin. As for me, I just have to think about sunshine and I turn as red as a lobster. OK… not really, but you know what I mean.
Sun protection is very important for me. Growing up I never used sunscreen. I grew up in a time when it was OK to lie out in the sun soaked in baby oil. I regret that now – especially after having six “suspicious” moles removed from my back.
The sun also damaged my face. I totally regret not protecting my skin when I was younger.
These days I won’t venture out of my home unless I am wearing at least an SPF 15 on my face and skin (even during the winter). If I know I’m going to be out in the sun for a long time I wear a higher SPF and bring it along with me so I can re-apply every few hours.
The sun can be damaging to your skin any time of year – even in the winter months. That is why it’s essential to always wear some kind of an SPF on your face and body.
I always opt for facial products with an SPF in them, whether it’s a moiturizer, makeup or simply a facial sunscreen. I prefer a moisturizer over a regular sunscreen because they are not greasy and serve a dual purpose.
Garnier sent me one of their newest products to review – Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter SPF15. It’s the kind of product I enjoy – a facial moisturizer with an SPF “built in” to it.
Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter SPF15 works just like a regular facial moisturizer. It applies well. It’s not greasy and it feels good on the skin. Some products with SPF make my skin feel greasy, dry or just too heavy. I did not experience that at all with this moisturizer. It’s lightweight and feels good on your skin.
As an added benefit, Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter SPF15 also brightens your skin leaving it looking more radiant and visibly brighter with use. Because it’s a moisturizer it helps to make dull, dry and rough skin look more soft, smooth and polished looking.
I’ve mentioned before on my blog how I tend to wash my face as soon a I get home because I don’t like the heavy feel of make up. I’m also a minimalist and tend to keep my makeup more natural looking. I only get all done up when I am going out to dinner, a party or event.
There have been days I have only applied the Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter SPF15 to my skin, some eyeliner and mascara – that’s it.
I have been using the product for about a month now and so far I am very pleased with it. It mositurizes my skin well and I like how my skin looks and feels when I am using the product. The SPF15 is a “bonus” as far as I’m concerned.
I’ve always been a fan of Garnier products. Garnier SkinActive Clearly Brighter SPF15 is just another wonderful product the brand has to offer.
