Easter is fast approaching. This year Easter falls on March 31, 2024. I haven’t even purchased goodies for my “work kids” yet. Yikes! I best get on that ASAP.
I love doing an Easter egg hunt with my “work kids.” They have such a fun time going on a hunt. I make sure to keep some eggs aside for those kids who have a hard time finding the eggs. I try and make sure everyone has an even amount, give or take.
I remember Easter when I was a child. I looked forward to the Easter basked that the Easter Bunny left for me. One year I received a SOLID chocolate Easter basket, which was also filled with candy. I was carrying it from the kitchen (upstairs) to the playroom (downstairs). I slipped and the basket went flying. It broke into a million pieces. I was heartbroken (sorry, no “5 second rule” in that case). Sigh…
It’s true that for kids it’s all about the candy. However there are plenty of fun Easter related toys, basket stuffers and activities for children worth checking out. Here are a few ideas for gifts, activities and stocking stuffers for your family this year.
BIZYBOO’s Easter Egg Busy Bag Scavenger Hunt (Vango Toys):
These Hide ’N’ Seek Busy Bags are the perfect mess-free, on-the-go, and low-fuss companion! Using both written and visual prompts found on an attached card, children will have a blast prodding and shifting the beads around, seeking out the Easter objects! Not only do they keep little ones engaged, but these bags also foster learning and motor skill development and encourage independence.
Available on Amazon (MSRP: $9.99; Ages 2+)
BIZYBOO’s are available in a variety of styles. I have reviewed some in the past. You can find the review here – Toddler Bizy Bags Reimagined as New BIZYBOO from Vango.
I love that the brand created an Easter egg version. Your little one will not only have something soft they can play with, but they can also learn letters, recognize shapes/designs, and best of all, it’s portable. You can take it with you where ever you go to keep little ones busy in the car, at the restaurant or while sitting in a waiting room.
PLAYMOBIL’s Horses of Waterfall- Feeding Time with Ellie & Sawdust:
Join Ellie and her horse, Sawdust, as they train for western riding! Yea Haw! With this PLAYMOBIL eco-friendly product line, it consists of, on average, more than 80% sustainable materials! It allows children to embark on exciting horse-riding adventures!
Available on playmobil.com (MSRP: $9.99; Ages: 5- 12)
PLAYMOBIL has many small sets that make great additions to larger sets. For example, this adorable set fits in perfectly with all the other Horses of Waterfall sets, as well as other PLAYMOBIL sets.
This set is so easy to put together. The box fits perfectly in most Easter baskets. In fact, you can fill an Easter basket with several PLAYMOBIL small sets.
PLAYMOBIL Color & Crayola- Motorbike:
PLAYMOBIL is celebrating the comeback of its classic PLAYMOBIL Color series after a 45-year hiatus with five new sets released in collaboration with creativity powerhouse, CRAYOLA. It’s a colorful world with the Motorbike! Design your motorbike and rider using your own sense of style by using the two included Crayola markers to color the motorbike and rider’s outfit as you wish! When you are ready for a change easily wipe the ink off and start all over again! How cool!!!
Available on playmobil.com and Amazon (MSRP: $16.99; Ages 5- 12)
PLAYMOBIL recently added color-you-own sets. They are the same great PLAYMOBIL pieces, except you can color and draw on them with washable markers (included). These sets work with any washable marker (I recommend Crayola – theirs are the best.
My old hands make it a little hard to add ornate details to the pieces, but hopefully you get the idea from what I did in the above photo. I added the word “fire” to the barrel and a number on the side of the motorcycle.
Just like with the other PLAYMOBIL set I mentioned, this box is also small enough to fit inside most Easter baskets.
I had the opportunity to review other sets like this. You can find that review here – PLAYMOBIL Color with Crayola: The Perfect Indoor Activity to Spark Creativity.
Bumpas™- New Tie-Dye Colors! (Good Soul Brands):
Who doesn’t love a good comfort hug? Bumpas™ are lovable plush toy friends who you can play and cuddle with. This huggable friend is weighted to provide a sense of comfort and security when you need it most! Bumpas’™ arms are perfectly sized to give realistic-feeling hugs. Now available in 2 NEW tie-dye colors! The pink tie-dye Bumpas™, Sprinx, and the blue tie-dye Bumpas™, Shloof, are the perfect friends to collect and to get in the spring mood!
Available on Amazon (MSRP $45.99; Ages 3+)
Okay… this might not seem like a great Easter gift, but hear me out. Plush Easter bunnies and chicks are PERFECT for Easter. I won’t deny that (I own many and I’m an adult). But children often lose interest in them after the holiday. A Bumpas they will enjoy long after the last jelly bean has been consumed.
Bumpas weighted plush friends are the perfect gift for a child who might be having a hard time, a child who doesn’t have many friends (or whose friends live far away), or simply a child who appreciates hugs.
I love the tie dye color. You can’t tell from my photos, but it’s very colorful. The other side is just a soft, baby pink. The Bumpas’ facial expression is different on each side too.
My daughter recently moved into her first apartment (she’s 26) and she took this with her. She tells me she sleeps with at night. I guess it makes her feel a little less lonely knowing that she can get a hug from the Bumpas anytime.
Easter would not be the same without coloring Easter eggs. That is an activity that my entire family enjoys doing together, even though my kids are 26 and 24 years old. It’s fun to see what unique design you can come up with, followed by many days of deviled eggs and egg salad (ha ha).
Are you familiar with Eggmazing? Eggmazing is a battery operated device that spins your egg around while you gently touch the egg with colorful makers. The end result are colorful striped eggs. Eggmazing works with both real hardboiled eggs and DIY craft eggs (not plastic eggs – the marker ink would smudge off).
Eggmazing comes with markers too. You just need batteries and the eggs.
The Original EggMazing Egg Decorator (Hey Buddy Hey Pal):
The #1 selling toy on Amazon leading up to the holiday, this line of mess-free egg decorators let kids become part of the decorating process instead of just “watching and waiting” for traditional messy dyes to work! This egg-shaped decorator holds and spins hard-boiled eggs while you use the included markers to create stripes, lines and other fun designs!
Available at Amazon (MSRP: $27.99; Ages 3+)
Above is one of the eggs that I made with Eggmazing. I took the egg out of the fridge (I was prepping to be lunch). I dried it off (condensation) but I guess I didn’t do a good enough job because the marker bled a bit. But you know what, I think it adds to the design.
This year there is a new egg decorator on the market – the Peeps Bunny Decorator. It works the same way as the Eggmazing Egg Decorator, but this one is made to look like the iconic yellow marshmallow Peep.
PEEPS® EggMazing Egg Decorator (Hey Buddy Hey Pal):
PEEPS® joins the EggMazing family with the new PEEPS® EggMazing Egg Decorator! Just like the other decorators, this bunny-shaped one holds and spins hard-boiled eggs while you use the included PEEPS® markers to decorate! Available in the iconic PEEPS® Bunny Pink and PEEPS Bunny Yellow!
Available at Amazon (MSRP: $27.99; Ages 3+)
This also comes with markers, as seen in the photo above.
This works the same as the Eggmazing Decorator where all you need is to add batteries and supply the eggs to decorate.
It’s so easy to use. Just put the egg in the opening, turn it on, and gently touch the marker to the egg as it spins around. You can make straight lines, or you can go all out like I did on the egg above and have the stripes go back and forth.
All of the products are linked in their description (non-affiliate links). You can also find some of the products, like PLAYMOBIL, at other retailers (online and offline).
