Pain is something that we can’t avoid in life. I’m not taking about the kind of pain you feel when you break up with a significant other, or lose a loved one. I’m talking about physical pain. Sadly, some people experience more pain than others.
Pain in a constant in my life. I suffer from Carpal Tunnel in both wrists/hands (I required surgery on my right one). I also have arthritis in hips (my left hip is killing me at the moment).
My biggest source of pain is neuropathy in both of my feet. The best way to describe it is if a tractor trailer parked on my feet and someone set them on fire at the same time. They get very painful, they burn and they always have a weird numb feeling to them. Sigh…
My neuropathy pain is so bad that I am considering having a nerve blocker implanted on to my spine. Special wires are controlled by a remove control to block the pain sensation from reaching your brain. I’m just not sure if I like the idea of wires on my spine.
I feel a lot of pain on a daily basis. For others, like my husband, the pain he feels is situational. He feels back pain if he shoves snow. He feels foot pain if he’s on his feet too long. You get the idea.
There are ways to treat pain from over the counter medications (Advil, Tylenol…) to prescription medications. There are also creams, lotions and ointments you can use, but I always find them too messy and tend to avoid them whenever possible. Not only that, they smell weird.
What if you could target your pain at the source without taking medications or using messy creams and lotions?
The brand NUFABRX is a special type of fabric infused with medication that can help relieve pain at the source.
Here is some information about the brand.
The NUFABRX team is made up of expert scientists, textile extraordinaire, and award-winning designers. Each NUFABRX product is manufactured in their North Carolina based facility all sourced in the USA. HealthWear is putting medicine directly into your clothing. Sounds simple, right? This takes multiple scientists with PhDs and years of research to accomplish. NUFABRX puts active ingredients into textile fabrics, which can be programmed for controlled release to the skin. When knitted into the NUFABRX products, they consistently deliver therapeutic amounts of ingredients directly into the skin. From there, the active ingredients remain effective after multiple home machine washes. NUFABRX offers a pain collection and a maternity collection.
NUFABRX has products that target pain in your ankle, arm, calf, knee, lower leg and wrist. The products look like sleeves, for lack of a better description.
They are made out of a stretchy, breathable material that easily slides on to your body. They feel like a sock – like that kind you would put on your feet. They are very light weight too.
The products can be washed up to 15+ times and still work just as good as the first time you use them. Each one provides you with approximately 150 hours of active capsaicin benefits.
I was sent a couple of products to review. I receive the wrist product and the one for the ankle.
I have chubby hands and a thick wrist. The wrist product from NUFABRX fit on my hand/wrist easily and it was very comfortable. I could still use my hand. It didn’t interfere with what I was doing at all.
This is a product I need when I am using computer and my wrist is bothering me due to my Carpal Tunnel. UNFORTUNATELY I had an allergic reaction to whatever medication is infused into the fabric, so I wasn’t able to use the product for very long. I’m allergic to capsaicin, which I didn’t realize was the ingredient in these products.
Capsaicin DOES burn a bit at first. The first few times burn a bit more than you might anticipate, only because your body has to build up a tolerance to it. After that the burn is more so like a muscle rub. The “burn” is to help desensitize the nerves, which helps with pain. You can Google capsaicin to learn more about it.
I did try it on my ankle too. As with my wrist, I have chubby ankles (“cankles” as they have been called). This one was a little snug for my preference, but it did fit. It felt more like an Ace bandage wrapped around my ankle, like the times when I sprained it when I was younger.
I couldn’t keep it on for too long because I also had an allergic reaction to it.
I personally had an allergic reaction, but that is just me. For others, they won’t experience the same result.
I could tell that there is some kind of medicine in it (capsaicin). When I took it off my skin, I could feel the “burning” sensation, like the kind you would have if you use a muscle rub. It’s that same type of feeling.
I’m sorry that these didn’t work for me, but I am going to hold on to them in case any family members might require them in the future.
NUFABRX also has a maternity line. Instead of products infused with medicine, the maternity products are infused with something to keep your skin moisturized. Oh where were these products when I was pregnant! I had such dry skin. It would drive me crazy! I took daily baths in oatmeal products.
Their maternity line consists of leggings and shorts.
The brand also has compression socks.
