Available today (March 8, 2016) on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD is the fourth installment to the popular Open Season franchise, Open Season: Scared Silly (also known as Open Season 4).
The voice talent changed a bit but all the same beloved characters are back including Boog, Elliot, Mr. Weenie, Giselle, Shaw, McSquizzy, Ian and the others.
Late one night while sitting around a campfire (it wasn’t really a fire but more so fireflies flying around some logs), Elliot tells a scary campfire story about a werewolf known as the Wailing Wampus Werewolf. Elliot’s story frightens Boog so much that he refuses to go on a camping trip until Elliot can prove to him that the Wailing Wampus Werewolf does not exist and they are in no danger.
Elliot thinks all he needs to do is help Boog get over his fears and he’ll be OK to go camping. With the help of their forest friends they go out trying to scare Boog.
Their plan backfires when the friends truly believe that there is a Werewolf lurking around Dead Bear Gulch. And they are not the only ones – their enemy, Shaw, also believes that he saw a Werewolf.
Panic set in among the townspeople forcing the Sheriff to declare “open season” to shoot and kill the Werewolf. Shaw also sees this as an opportunity to finally put an end to Boog and Elliot. His “game plan” is to “accidentally” shoot and kill them while out hunting for the werewolf.
Who will find the mysterious Werewolf (if he really does exist)? Will Shaw finally get his revenge on Boog and Elliot? Will Boog ever overcome his fears? To find out you need to pick up a copy of Open Season: Scared Silly. Look for it where ever movies are sold.

To be honest I didn’t even know there was an Open Season 2 or 3, let alone a fourth installment. My family and I saw the first film. We loved it. Had we known there were sequels we would have purchased or rented them.
I love that all of the same characters from the original film are also in the fourth film, Scared Silly. The voice talent is different, but he characters are much the same.
The film is rated PG for rude humor and adult action. I had a feeling it was given this rating because I feel like the fight scenes and some of the scary situations might be a little too intense for very young children. I would think this film would be better suited for children ages 7+.
The animation in this film was superb. I was especially impressed by the landscape/scenery. They always make the forest look so wonderful and inviting.
The characters are all likable. Sometimes in films there are characters that just don’t come across that well. That is NOT the case in this film. Even minor characters are very enjoyable.
My whole family enjoy this film, even my hard to impress teenagers. They also mentioned how they enjoyed seeing the same characters from the first film (the only film any of my family members have seen).
The film is very funny. A lot of it is silly, slapstick type humor. The rest is just downright funny.
Here is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
