I don’t get the best sleep at night. First and foremost my husband and I have been sleeping on a sofa bed for the past 22 years. Sofa beds are not meant to be slept on every night. We’ve had to replace the sleeper couch four times in the 22 years. Not only that, they KILL your back! Trying to get comfortable at night with that darn bar in your back is the worst. Trying to get out of the sofa bed is difficult too. I might be in my 50’s, but my body feels like I’m 150 when I wake up in the morning and get out of that nightmare bed. Sigh…
My husband and I occasionally check into a hotel for the night JUST to sleep in a real bed (it’s a fact, but we make a “date night” out of it).
Having the right pillow is also important to getting a good night’s sleep. Normally I have to sleep with THREE pillows. One is firm, one is soft and the little one is a throw pillow that I use to get my head elevated to the right height where I feel comfortable.
It’s hard to find the perfect pillow. In the past when we’ve shopped for pillows we can either find ones that are too soft or too firm. It’s hard to find something in-between. Forgot buying pillows online. That is even harder because you cannot feel the pillow to get an idea of how soft/firm it truly is.
What if I told you that you CAN find the perfect pillow for your personal need and comfort. One where YOU control how soft/firm the pillow is. You can with the unique Sidney Sleep pillow.
With Sidney Sleep, choose the firmness you prefer and make it your own, and it’s so easy to to.
Sidney Sleep pillow comes with a proprietary blend of shredded memory foam fill that you can add/remove from the pillow to get the perfect level of support that is best for you. It doesn’t matter if you sleep on your side, back or stomach. With Sidney Sleep pillow you can find the best level of comfort just for you.
I was sent a Sidney Sleep pillow to try out for myself.
There are steps you need to take before you can use your pillow. You’ll need to remove it from the packaging and let it “air out” for about 24 hours. I was so anxious to try the pillow out, making it a very long 24 hours for me to wait.
There is nothing wrong with the pillow. By “airing out” it just means it needs time to fully expand because when you receive the pillow it’s REALLY compressed. I guess it makes shipping it a lot easier. The airing out process simply gives the pillow time to fully expand to it’s actual size. I did “fluff” it up during that time period in hopes of speeding up the process (I did wait the full 24 hours, actually several hours past that due to work).
You also need to wash the pillow before you use it for the first time too. We only do laundry once a week (we have to pay to do our laundry – we don’t have a washer/dryer in our condo).
This brief video tells you what you need to get started, what type of firmness is best for your sleeping style and how to add/remove the foam fill to get your perfect pillow.
The outer case for the pillow is so soft and comfy. I love the quilted texture I suppose you could sleep on the pillow “as is,” but I put one of our other pillow cases over the Sidney Sleep pillow and accompanying case.
I am a side sleeper, but sometimes I roll on to my back. I love that this pillow is ideal for any sleeping position.
The pillow and pillow case is made out of hypoallergenic material. I appreciate that. It’s also antibacterial. Plus it can be washed. With eight cats who sleep in bed with us, we wash our bedding once a week.
The Sidney Sleep pillow is constructed from a Bamboo Rayon outer layer which naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold, fungus and dust mites, making it great for those with allergies to dust mites, feathers, or other natural pillow materials. This ensures that Sidney users wake up without puffiness, acne, and rashes caused by long-term allergen and bacterial exposure.
The pillow shred inside is made out of memory foam shreds. When I think memory foam, I think a firm pillow that “flattens” when you place your head on it. Similar to those squishes or stress balls where you squeeze flat and when you let go it fluff up again – just like memory foam. This pillow didn’t have that same feeling. It was hard to tell that it was made with memory foam at all. The shreds gives it a more traditional pillow feel.
The pillow doesn’t trap heat either. I really haven’t experienced that yet. I don’t have a problem overheating at night (except maybe in the summer months).
I’m on the fence as far as the firmness is concerned. When I go to bed at night I always start off on my side. Usually my right side. The pillow as it currently is feels perfect as far as the firmness. When I sleep on my back (which is where I end up when I am having a hard time falling asleep) I feel like I need the pillow to be just a little bit more firmer. Don’t get me wrong, the pillow is great. I’m just not sure if I want it a tiny bit firmer or not. That is the beauty of this pillow, you can add or remove the shredded memory foam to make the pillow perfect for YOU.
The Sidney Sleep pillow is available in queen and king sizes. I was surprised it didn’t have an average size. But, I appreciate the larger pillow because I love having the extra space to snuggle with when I am sleeping on my side.
The brand also has a curved pillow, and a miniature version of the pillow for traveling. Both the travel pillow and curve pillow are available in multi-packs too, which is ideal for families.
The mini pillow can be used at your desk chair or in the car for added back support. You can also use it to support other areas of your body (legs, arms). When I had surgery on both my shoulders (each a year apart), I could have used the mini pillow to keep my arm propped up.
I think Sidney Sleep pillow is pretty amazing. Just to be able to customize it to YOUR firmness or softness makes this pillow work every penny. How comfortable it really is and the antibacterial and hypoallergenic material makes it even that much more perfect.
Prices range from $29.99 to $59.99 (current prices).
These pillows would make great gifts!
