I am not necessarily a big fan of wearing makeup. I see Tik Tok and Instagram videos of people giving makeup tutorials and I honestly cannot see myself doing such things. I guess it’s because I work with children, and I’m pretty sure they don’t care of my “wing” looks perfect or not. I’m also getting older, and I feel like at my age, “less is more.”
Makeup is not cheap. I cringe when I have to spend $12+ on my favorite mascara, a mascara that I remember paying $6+ years ago. Sigh…
I’m always on the lookout for quality makeup to suit my needs that is affordable. I know that I am not alone with this.
How do you feel about quality makeup that is affordable, and has a bigger purpose than just making you look your best?
Let me introduce you to the brand Prideful.
Here is Prideful’s backstory.
Prideful’s objective extends beyond placing the Pride Flag on their products. It is to create visibility and to promote acceptance – one individual at a time.
Prideful is all about effecting change and it is their core belief that a pivotal way for them to do this is to make monetary donations to local and national grassroots LGBTQIA+ non-profits in the communities serviced by their LGBTQIA Heroes. This keeps their connections to the international LBGTQIA+ community, and allows them to see positive change in real time, while bringing a grassroots inspired mandate to their marketing, where they can service individual markets and communities nationwide.
Respected celebrity makeup and wig artist Jason Hayes is the Creative Director of the brand and has meticulously crafted every detail of this brand from the gorgeous holographic packaging, to the Prideful Heroes campaign, to the corporate partnership with the Matthew Shepard Foundation. The Matthew Shepard Foundation’s work is key to educating, informing, and creating acceptance with understanding. This work is paramount to the PRIDEFUL team.
Prideful’s goal is to erase hate and pain love with Prideful. The team at Prideful feel that the only way to effect real change is by visibility and acceptance.
Prideful offers consumers vibrant, non-gender specific, quality cosmetics and bath and body products. They are available on the brand’s website, as well as other retail locations, such as Walmart.
Prideful sent me some of their products to review. I was pleasantly surprised by all the goodies in the box that they sent me. It felt like it was my birthday!
The packaging is so pretty. Not only is it colorful, as you can see, but it also has a holographic effect to it (sadly, that doesn’t show up in the photo).
Some of the products I don’t normally use, so I passed those along to my daughter. Other products I have never used before, but I was excited to try them out.
I have next to no eyebrows. I guess it’s a part of aging that your eyebrows get very sparse?
Normally I use a pencil to try and “naturally” create more of a fuller look on my eyebrows. It’s “hit or miss.” Some days I did a good job, other times I don’t.
I really love Prideful’s Beautiful Brows + Brow Powder.
The pressed powder duo allows you to custom blend complimentary colors with our smudge resistant formula. Define brows or beards, contour jawline or a six pack.
The palate comes with a light and dark powder. You can “mix” the powders together to create the perfect shade for you. Initially it took me a bit to create just the right color mix (I mostly use the lighter shade since I’m very fair skinned). The powders blend together very well too. They also last all day. I feel like I can create a more natural look with the powder instead of the pencil.
The underside of the container is so cool looking. It’s a rainbow Ombre look.
I don’t normally use a bronzer, since I am so pale that I think a ghost has more color than me (ha ha). I use Prideful’s Sunshine Kissed Matte Bronzer as an eye shadow and to give me a subtle contour.
A scrumptiously lightweight matte finish bronzer for an effortless just in the sun look. Perfect for facial and body highlighting or body contouring.
I do wear eye shadow. Not all the time, but I do from time to time, especially on “date night” with my husband. Prideful has a few different eye shadow palettes to choose from.
9 gorgeous shades in matte, shimmer and sparkle finishes for endless options.
I received their I Candy Pressed Shadow Palette to review. I received the Aurora palette.
First and foremost, their eye shadow palettes are only $10.00! That’s so affordable. I’ve paid double, even triple that amount for a decent eye shadow palette. Even my daughter thought $10.00 was an unheard of price.
Aurora consists of nine neutral-ish colors in different shades of browns, tans and bronze (for lack of a better description).
These are great, colorful eye shadows that stayed on my eyes all day – even sweating like crazy from the heat and humidity.
The eye shadow glides on smoothly and I love the shimmering ones. They are my favorites. I use the goldish one almost every day.
My only “negative” is that it didn’t come with an eye shadow brush or wand. I use a brush that I already own (sometimes I use Q-tips too).
I don’t use liquid eyeliner (Prideful has a Line & Define Liquid Eyeliner), which I passed on to my daughter, but I did receive Prideful’s I-Line Liner Pencil. It came at a great time too. I really needed a new one.
A creamy pencil formula glides on upper or lower lids to perfection. Because it’s smudge resistant, you can get creative with body and facial art as well.
I love that this is a “dial up” eyeliner, so you don’t have to mess around with a sharpener.
You can get a nice “smudge” (for lack of a better description) if you like to give you eye a “smokey” look. It did fade a bit during the day, but I could still see it, so it was not a problem.
I received a cover-up product, but I don’t find it on the brand’s website. It’s called Undercover.
Not only is the tube pretty (it has the same rainbow Ombre effect that the brow product has), but it also does an incredible job of covering up. I was super impressed by how well it covered the various marks and blemishes on my face, most especially a vein by my mouth that I can’t seem to get rid of.
I also received to review a liquid highlighter called Limelight Illuminating Highlighter.
A whipped formula you only need a dab, cause a little goes a long way. Great for highlighting upper cheek bones, bridge of the nose and adding that extra glow anywhere you’d like for a luminous finish.
The color of this highlighter is a bit too dark for my skin, so I can’t use it on my cheeks or nose, but I do use it on my eyes (an undereye liner, or in the corner of my eyes).
The highlighter is available in three different colors (I received the darker one). I can’t find how to select your color choice on the website. I would definitely order a lighter shade because I love the way this shimmers.
I did receive other products, but they were either products I don’t use, or colors that wouldn’t work with my skin.
If you are in the market for quality, affordable makeup, and you enjoy supporting products with a larger purpose, you should definitely check out Prideful. Their official website is Prideful.Me (notice it’s .Me and not .com). You can also check out the brand on Facebook and Instagram. Their official hashtags are #LivePrideful and #PridefulCosmetics.
