I’m not one to follow the trends, per say. I have children who are young adults (early 20’s), and I work with young people (19 and 23). So I get to learn about the latest trends without actually having to seek them out.
I have a few social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and even Tik Tok. Admittedly I don’t post much to Tik Tok. I do have a few videos on my account, but most of them were published by the kids who attended the program I used to work at.
I enjoy watching Tik Tok videos because sometimes I can find some cool life “hacks,” as well as crafts I can do with the kids I currently work with. I also find some of the videos funny and very entertaining.
Occasionally I’ll hear from my kids or co-workers about a trend on social media.
A current trending product on Tik Tok is a beverage called Psychedelic Water. Have you heard of it before?
Here is some information about this unique beverage.
Psychedelic Water is leading the way in the non-alcoholic and sober curious movement. They have expanded into retail locations across the country, including Urban Outfitters and celebrity health food giant Erewhon Market.
Boasting massive TikTok popularity with 15 million+ views and selling out within the first three weeks, Psychedelic Water’s popularity and rising reputation is fueling the creatives and risk-takers with a state of happiness, mental clarity, and creative bliss.
For those looking for a non-alcoholic substitution, Psychedelic Water is the first legal psychedelic brand of its kind built on the ethos that psychedelics are more than something you consume. Created with a one-of-a-kind formulation made with kava root, damiana leaf, and green tea leaf extract, Psychedelic Water is a psychoactive, lightly carbonated blend that creates a sense of euphoria for a hangover-free experience.
*There is NO THC in this product, or CBD.
I am not much of an alcoholic drinker (I can’t even remember the last time I had a drink – must have been YEARS). I’m not really into that anymore. Plus I take medications that I really shouldn’t be consuming alcohol with.
I am familiar with kava root. I have had tea made out of kava root. It’s an herb that is used to help relieve stress and anxiety, as well as promote sleep. It can have a euphoric feel to it as well. Personally, it all depends on the amount of the kava, and the quality. I find it to be more relaxing that euphoric, but I do remember about 20+ years ago a friend of mine made me kava tea and I guess she used too much because I honestly felt like I was stoned. That was a feeling I was not accustomed to.
Kava has been around for a very long time. Historically it’s been used as an alternative medicine, as well as in traditional ceremonies.
Psychedelic Water also contains green tea extract. Green tea has caffeine in it.
I wasn’t sure what damiana leaf was used for, so I Googled it. As per what I found;
Damiana is used to treat headache, bedwetting, depression, nervous stomach, and constipation; for prevention and treatment of sexual problems; boosting and maintaining mental and physical stamina; and as an aphrodisiac – RXList.com.
Psychedelic Water sent me a few cans to try out for myself. I received the flavors Oolong + Orange Blossom, Hibiscus + Lime, Prickly Pear and Blackberry + Yuzu. I believe that is their current flavors.
This is a lightly carbonated beverage, which I appreciate. I’m not a fan of soda because I don’t like things that are overly carbonated. Due to weight loss surgery I had, if I drink a carbonated beverage it can reap havoc on me. For that reason I tend to stick with non-carbonated or lightly carbonated beverages.
As far as the taste goes, I enjoyed the tastes of these drinks. The Hibiscus one was a little too “floral” for my personal preference, but it grew on me the more sips I took.
I was not sure what prickly pear was. I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never tried it before. It’s a rather unique flavor. It’s good. I really liked it. It’s sweet (but not overly sweet) and has a fruity flavor. I wasn’t able to pin point exactly what it tasted like, but definitely fruity.
The Oolong + Orange Blossom and Blackberry + Yuzu were my favorites. I’m leaning more towards the Oolong + Orange Blossom as my ultimate favorite, but the Blackberry + Yuzu was just as delicious.
I drank these cold. I’m not sure what they would taste like at room temperature.
As far as the how it made me feel, I felt more relaxed than anything else. I joked with my husband that it’s the type of beverage I’d love to be sipping on while at a beach, on a lounge chair, in the shade of a palm tree, while listening to the sounds of the ocean waves. It definitely made me feel “chill.” NOT silly or “stoned.” NOT AT ALL! It made me feel relaxed. I think I need to stock up on this when I go back to work in the fall (ha ha).
Mental clarity and mood boosting wasn’t something I experienced while drinking this beverage. It was just soothing and relaxing.
I’m sure that the ingredients affect people in different ways. This review is based on my PERSONAL experience.
The can is super cool. I love that it has an iridescent quality about it. It really lends it’s self to the “psychedelic” aspect of the name.
The only “con” for me would be the price. This is not a cheap beverage. A six-pack on the brand’s website sells for $33.00 ($5.50 per can). Then again, if you buy an alcoholic beverage, even a simple beer, at a bar, you’d pay much more than that.
I can see myself enjoying these with friends while out on a boat, or sitting by a camp fire. These seem like an ideal summer time drink (that can be enjoyed year round of course).
