Life is stressful. There are bills to pay, commuting to/from work, keeping your home clean, worrying about what your kids are up to… the list goes on an on.
Some people deal with stress a lot better than others. Take my husband for example. He can sleep through anything. Me, on the other hand, will LOSE sleep over the simplest things. It’s not uncommon to find me wide awake in the middle of the night.
Part of my problem is that I have a hard time turning my mind off. Even my physician told me that. For that reason he prescribed a medication to help me sleep (aka – turn my mind off). The problem is that I hate taking that medication. Not only does it make me feel groggy the next morning, but it also bothers my eyes if I take it more than a few days at a time. For that reason I only take it when absolutely necessary.
I also have a hard time focusing at times. My husband keeps joking that I need to take a product called “Focus Factor.”
This is a (made up) example of how my mind works sometimes.
“I need to dust the living room. I need to buy new batteries for my flameless candles in the living room. What else do I need batteries for? What else do I need from the store? Do I need anything for dinner from the store? I want to try that new recipe for dinner. Where did I put that recipe book? I need to buy that book off Amazon I want to review. I have review posts to write. I need to reply to emails…”
You get the idea. My mind tends to “wander” and I lose track of what I was initially suppose to do.
I’m not one to want to use medications or other ingestibles to help me relax or focus. I take enough medication as it is.
I was recently told about the BrainTap Pro app that can help you relax, unwind and refocus. Sign me up! I NEED something like that in my life.
I was sent an access code to try BrainTap Pro out for myself.
Here is a little background information about the BrainTap Pro app.
The BrainTap Pro mobile app is a quick and easy way to relax, reboot and revitalize – anytime, anywhere. Backed by neuroscience and research, “braintapping” is proven to help people who struggle with stress, difficulty sleeping, low energy, and other lifestyle challenges. The BrainTap Pro mobile app is a mind-development tool designed to help users de-stress while achieving physical, mental, and emotional balance.
BrainTap Pro is an all-natural, drug-free solution that guides your mind from awake and reactionary to an intuitive, creative state where super-learning and healing can occur. Using frequency-following technology as well as guided visualization, the app gives anyone the ability to achieve the mental state they want in mere minutes (unlike traditional meditation which can take years to master.)
While other apps only focus on one brainwave (such as alpha waves that calm and soothe) BrainTap Pro is based on the understanding that no complex human task has only one brainwave state but rather a symphony of waves working together.
Unlike other methods where users have to listen and follow instructions, such as “breath in, breath out,” the BrainTap Pro audio does the meditation for you. You can even fall asleep while using the app, and still reap the benefits.
BrainTap Pro’s exclusive neuro-algorithms gently and naturally guide your brain through a broad range of brainwave patterns. The results in a complete spectrum of brainwave activity, meaning the brain is now optimized for peak performance.
The BrainTap Pro mobile app takes the user through specially designed programs and offers bundles of sessions customized to specific goals, whether it is to kickstart your productivity in the morning, alleviate stress after work, unwind before bed, or to recharge and focus midday.
First and foremost, while it is true that you can use this app anytime, anywhere, it’s NOT meant for when you are driving. I initially thought I could use this on my commute to/from work. This app is meant to be used when you can close your eyes, relax and listen to it. Fortunately for me, I don’t leave for work until the afternoon. My husband and kids are usually at work/school during the day, so I have the place to myself. This allows me to have no outside distractions (except for the neighbor’s annoying barking dog), so I can fully immerse myself into the app.
When you first log on to the app, you’ll come to the main page. There you can access your BrainTap “bundles,” your favorite BrainTap Pro sessions, downloads and more.
BrainTap Pro is divided into different “bundles” that focus on one specific area of your life. There are bundles to help you sleep, bundles to help you life mindfully, bundles to help you wake up and get ready to start your day, a weight loss bundle and even BrainTap Pro bundles geared towards kids.
Most bundles have a lot of sessions. The bundle for kids currently has 53 sessions. weight loss currently has 55 sessions and sleep currently has 29 sessions. I’m sure the makers of BrainTap Pro are going to continually add more sessions to this app over time.
Each BrainTap Pro session lasts for quite a while. These are not quick sessions. These were designed to really immerse yourself into each session. I’ve seen sessions last from as little as 8 minutes, and as long as an hour. Most seem to be in the 15-30 minute range. I’m sure EVERYONE has at least 15-30 minutes to devote to themselves. Even if it means doing a session during your lunch break at work, or while your child is napping.
Using BrainTap Pro is easy. Simply pick the session you want, sit back, close your eyes and relax. BrainTap Pro does most of the “mental work” for you.
There is a brief description for each session, so you can choose which one is best for what you need it for.
I forgot to add that you need to download the sessions that you want. That is no big deal. It just helps you to locate the sessions you used in the “download” session.
The sessions remind me of being hypnotized. A soothing voice talks to you and tells your mind what it should be doing and makes you aware of things. While this is happening, gentle music (and sometimes nature sounds) plays in the background.
There are a few sessions that I came across that have someone talking underneath what the main person is talking about (if that makes sense?). As if there is someone else talking in the background. I’m assuming that serves some kind of neuro-function.
My husband was not too keen on that idea (he tried it out a few times). He JOKINGLY said “How do you know the background voice is not telling you to rob a bank?” I HIGHLY doubt that is the case at all. Since using the app I have not had any weird or unexplained feelings or ideas.
I mostly use the app to help me relax, de-stress, and to help me sleep. I’ve dabbled in the other areas (like weight loss) but i haven’t really noticed much as far as that is concerned (the weight loss aspect).
I find the app VERY soothing and relaxing. I liken it to taking a nap while you are fully awake. I find that after the session is over I feel like I took a nap and feel more prepared to tackle my day.
As someone who struggles with insomnia (because I can’t turn my brain off), I have found this app to be VERY helpful. It actually does help me to take my mind off things and not to let my mind wonder, so I am better able to relax and fall asleep. The app has been very helpful in helping me to get much needed sleep.
There is so much available content on this app that it would take a very long time (weeks, months even) to go through each one if you did one session each day.
Overall I am truly enjoy this app. I find myself looking forward to that “me time” to sit, close my eyes, and enjoy a BrainTap Pro session.
BrainTap Pro is a subscription service app. It costs $9.99 per month per bundle (NOT per session). The subscription allows you to use the app/bundles on two devices, with up to 5 plays per day per device. That might seem like a lot, but when you consider what most people pay per month for streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, or how much money they spend at the local coffee shop, this price isn’t all that bad (I spend about $12-$15 per WEEK just buying coffee from the local coffee shop).

What do you think about BrainTap Pro? Does it sound like something you need in your life?
