The past year (and more) has been a VERY stressful time for pretty much everyone. From COVID worries, to loss of jobs… it’s been a huge mess. Thankfully there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel (thankfully), but none the less, the stress of it all still lingers in most of us, including myself.
I was furloughed from my job for six month. Currently I am not working, due to COVID as well. I probably won’t see another paycheck until the end of September. Sigh…
It is VERY important to relieve stress in your life. Not only does stress affect your mood, but it can also take it’s toll on your relationships, work performance and overall mood. Stress can also put you at a greater risk for things like high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and depression
If you feel like you are overly stressed up, I urge you to seek medical treatment, or at the very least, find a professional to talk to. There are many free and low cost mental health clinics across the country.
If you deal with stress from time to time, you can find things to do to help relax your mind. Go for a walk, talk to a friend, practice mindfulness and/or read a book.
A company known as Dr. Calmer’s has another idea – play with sand. No, I don’t mean head off to the beach (although that would be VERY relaxing). That is not possible for many people, especially while we’re still in a pandemic. What I mean is play with Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand.
Made with ancient riverbed sand, Dr. Calmer’s relieves stress as you stretch, knead and shape it with your hands.
The sand does not have a scent (but it is available in different colors).
This unique sand has a never-dry-out formula. It is also not messy as one would think when they think of sand.
I was sent some of Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand to try out for myself. I even gave one to my husband to take to work with him to give it a “test drive” as well.
The sand comes in a metal tin, which makes it portable. You can easily slip a tin of Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand in your purse, backpack, luggage or even your pocket. You might even want to tuck one inside your glove box in your car for those times you are stuck in heavy traffic.
When you think of sand you probably think of tiny, gritty particles. This sand does not have that feel to it. It can be a wee bit gritty, but nothing uncomfortable.
It’s hard to describe how this sand feels. It’s soft and pliable. You can squeeze it and mold it as you would Play Doh, but the texture is different. It’s very light and airy.
If you make the sand thin, it will gently fall apart. It sounds odd, but it’s a very satisfying feeling to see and feel it do that.
You can play with the entire tin at once, or simply grab a chunk and play around with that. I have small hands, so I divide the tins up into two large chunks. I alternate using them.
Humidity and moisture in the air might make the sand a wee bit softer. That is not a problem at all.
Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand is available as is, or you can purchase a tin with some CBD balm included.
Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand with Full-Spectrum CBD delivers a soothing hand & mind experience. Combine the included 25 mg CBD with Relaxing Sand to create a tactile and sensory sensation! Let your worries melt away as you stretch, knead and shape it with your hands.
For relaxation of hands and mind, use a pea sized amount of CBD salve and fully rub into your hands. Stretch, knead and shape Relaxing Sand for at least 5-7 minutes.
I also received a tin with the CBD balm inside. It comes in a small jar that is imbedded into the sand upon arrival. You can choose to store it in the tin with the sand, or elsewhere. I keep mine in the tin so that I don’t misplace it.
The balm does not have a scent to it.
I was concerned that the balm would make my hands and the sand greasy. That is not the case at all. The CBD balm soaks into your skin and there is no greasy residue to transfer to the sand.
Truth be told, I don’t really notice a difference when I use the balm. With that being said, I have tried numerous CBD products over the years and it doesn’t seem to have an effect on me. It might just be me, or the effects are so subtle that I don’t notice them. I know people who LOVE CBD products and use them daily.
Overall I think Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand is a wonderful product. I have a tin on my desk that I actually use frequently, especially when I am reading emails, or if I am trying to compost a post and I have a bit of “writers block.” I find playing with the sand relaxing and it settles my mind. My doctor says my mind races a “million miles per hour” at times. He had to give me medication to take at night just to help my mind from racing (I don’t take it often – I don’t like how it makes me feel).
My husband tells me that he uses it a lot at work. He has a lot of downtime, which can be very boring. He says that he often plays with the sand. So men can enjoy this product just as much as women.
Dr. Calmer’s Relaxing Sand would make a great gift for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays or even for new parents (I’m sure they need to find some stress reducing moments – ha ha).
