My natural hair – now (blonde and wavy) and getting my hair colored (right)
I truly miss the hair I used to have when I was a child. I had thick, lush hair. My hair was so thick that my hairdresser (my brother-in-law’s sister) used to refer to my hair as a “lion’s mane.”
When I look at pictures of myself from back in the day I see hair that was long, breakage-free, shiny and very healthy looking.
Years of coloring, bleaching, blow drying and hair curling, not to mention those few years I was into getting my hair permed, has really done a lot of damage to my hair.
When it comes to hair care products, I am very selective to what I use. Not only do I want something that is color safe, but I want something that will leave my hair silky soft, shiny and ideally deal with my dry, split ends.
I spend a small fortune on specific products to help my hair. Don’t get me wrong, they are effective, but it requires me to use three different products (a hair mask, leave-in conditioner and serum). The three of them cost me roughly $80. THANKFULLY I only need to purchase one on a somewhat regular basis. The other two I use very sparingly so they last a long time. I don’t make that much money to afford them on a regular basis. I’ve even had to forgo using them here and there just to stretch them out longer until I have the funds to purchase them again.
Recently I was sent a new product on the market that does the same thing that all three of the products I normally use, and almost at half the cost.
The new product is called Strength Cure Dream Healer Serum by the brand Pureology.
This revolutionary, ultra-lightweight leave-in treatment is designed to restore up to 99% of virgin-like strength, reinforcing weak hair bonds, sealing split ends, and stopping breakage, all while keeping color vibrant and protected.
According to the brand, here are the key benefits of this new product.
- Reduces 85% of breakage
- Visibly reduces split ends
- Delivers 72 hours of softness and shine
- Improves elasticity for stronger, more resilient hair
- Instantly absorbs with an ultra-lightweight, clear texture
- Protects against heat up to 450°F
- Works on both wet and dry hair
- This ultra-lightweight leave-in serum restores up to 99% Virgin-like strength.
Pureology’s Strength Cure Dream Healer Serum comes in a plastic bottle with a pump top. You don’t need much of this product either, so a little will go a long way. You only need 1-2 pumps, but depending on your hair you could use a pump or two more. I use 1-2 pumps on each side of my head (I split my hair down the middle). The left side needs a wee bit more at times due to some breakage from when I had my hair bleached.
I like that you can use this on both towel dried and dry hair, so you can use it as often as needed. I have been using it every time I was my hair (usually every other day or maximum third day). In between days when I don’t wash my hair I have been using to too on the ends of my hair to help with breakage and split ends.

It doesn’t have much of a scent either, or at least nothing I really noticed.
I’m always weary of using hair products at first, especially serums. I don’t want my hair to be left looking greasy or dirty, but that has not been the case at all with this product. It works it’s way into my hair right away.
I really like that this product has been helping with my dry ends. I still have some split ends, but I also haven’t had a haircut in months. I’m sure once I finally get one this product will work even better.
This serum leaves my hair feeling really soft and depending on how I wear my hair, smooth looking too. What I mean by this is that my hair is naturally wavy, so on days I wash it I let it air dry so my waves are more prominent. On in-between washing days my hair tends to go flat (why, I don’t know), so I usually just comb it straight and add some product. This serum helps my hair look better when it’s straight.
I’ll be honest, I love that this product does the same as three other products I’ve been using combined, AND at almost half the price. Sounds like a winner if you ask me.
