The one thing I look forward to when it comes to the summer months is certainly NOT the heat and humidity (no way!), bur rather the awesome films that tend to be released during the summer months.
Some of the movies I have been anxiously waiting to see include Incredibles 2, Breaking In, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Leave No Trace, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation, Skyscraper, and Christopher Robin. It’s my goal this summer to see all of these movies, and more, if possible.
There are plenty of great films for children this summer too. I know the camp my daughter works at just saw Incredibles 2 last week.
It’s not uncommon for a child to want movie related merchandise, most especially after seeing a film. My daughter said that some of the camp kids already own Incredibles 2 toys.
If your child is like most, you might be interested in learning about some fun movie-themed products for the film Incredibles 2 from Jakks Pacific.
Some people might not be familiar with the brand name, but Jakks Pacific make MANY incredible toys for children. They make many Disney toys, Marvel Tsum Tsum, Nickelodeon Slime, and Chicco toys, to name a few. They offer action figures, games, dolls, collectibles, outdoor toys and plush, as well as many other toys for children both young and old (or people like me who are just big kids at heart).
Jakks Pacific was kind enough to send me some cool toys inspired by Incredibles 2. My family and I are big fan of the Incredibles, so I was excited to check out these fun toys.
I received the following toys.
Power Couple (SRP $29.99)
This is a fun set. It includes both Mr. and Mrs. Incredible.
Mr. Incredible is made out of hard plastic. His arms can move up and down. He also talks when you press his chest.
Mrs. Incredible is made out of some kind of rubber, which makes it easy to stretch her. This is very true to her character. Because she’s so soft and “jiggly,” it’s hard to play with her like a regular doll. She can’t stand up. You might be able to attach her to a Barbie doll stand (I don’t have one available to test it out).
The characters feature their same voices from the movie, which adds to the fun when you play with them. Mr. Incredible does all the talking for the duo. The Mrs. Incredible doll doesn’t actually talk.
This toy set also comes with three evil character targets that you can use the duo with.
To play with this set you need to insert Mrs. Incredibles hands into Mr. Incredible hands. Then pull back (gently) on Mrs. Incredible, while you have a firm grasp on Mr. Incredible, then let her go. Mrs. Incredible will fly through the air. Use the evil character targets and see if you can get Mrs. Incredible to hit them.
This toy sets did come with some “trial and error.” It took several times before I got the feel for the toys to use them properly.
Don’t pull on Mrs. Incredible too much or you can rip off her leg or her arms could rip. That is why I suggested that you pull on her gently.
Be careful with this toy around breakables or ceiling fans (yes, I accidentally shot her at the ceiling fan).
Once you get the feel for this toy it is a lot of fun.
The only downside is Mrs. Incredible. I know she needs to be pliable but I wish there was a way to use her as a regular doll too. That’s OK because Jaaks Pacific also sell Incredibles 2 Costumed Character Dolls.
Incredibles 2 Costumed Character: Violet (SRP $14.99)
I received the Violet doll to review.
This doll is the same size as a Barbie doll.
Violet comes wearing her Incredibles 2 suit. She also comes with an eye mask that can be removed. The mask has some kind of a sticky material on the back of it, making it adhere to her face when it’s on so you don’t have to worry about it falling off. The stickiness doesn’t get on the doll. It’s similar to re-positional tape.
I’m not sure how long the stickiness will last. I guess a long time. It would depend on how many times the mask it put on and taken off.
Violet has really pretty hair. It’s the type of hair that little girls (or big kids like myself) enjoy brushing. It’s black with a bit of a blue tint to it.
The doll can be posed in many different ways. She has various “joints” in her arms and legs which enable you to put her in different poses.
I don’t think her clothes can be removed. Her shoes come off, but I think it would be difficult to remove her outfit. Not only that, her hands are black (because she’s wearing gloves). Her hands are colored that way, so if you are able to remove her outfit her hands will remain black.
I would suggest if your child wants to change her outfit just to put new clothes on top of what she is wearing (her superhero costume).
Incredibles 2 Stretching and Speeding Elasticycle (SRP $39.99)
This is really a fun toy. I wish we had a yard or drive way to play with this in. For now we’ve only been able to use it in the hallway of our condo.
My husband said he had a similar toy when he was a child.
This set comes with Elastic Girl (Mrs. Incredible) riding a motorcycle (aka “Elasticycle”) and a stand that you attach the cycle to in order to gear it up to shoot across the floor (or where ever you are playing with it). We do have a “low” carpet and the Elasticycle did run across the carpet from the hallway (which has wood flooring).
To use simply attach the Elasticycle to the stand (for lack of a better description), crack the handle and watch Mrs. Incredible shoot across the floor.
As you are cranking to stand, you can see Mrs. Incredible’s arms stretching out before her.
The toys goes fast (depending on how you turn the handle). I was very impressed by her distance. She even remained upright, which was also impressive. I was certain she would tilt over after she left the stand, but she didn’t. She was upright the entire time. Sometimes she felt to her side when the Elasticycle came to a stop. Other times she stayed upright.
I wish I was able to get a video of this. Our hallway is long and narrow. The only video I could possibly take is looking at the toy, opposite of it in the hallway. I would rather get a video of the toy from the side so you can see how it works.
Here is a brief video from Jaaks Pacific in France that shows how the toy works.
I never thought about setting up a jump for her. That is a neat idea. We’ll have to try that when I can think of some kind of ramp we can use.
Overall I think all of these Incredible 2 toys from Jakks Pacific are pretty awesome. They are quality, well made toys that truly capture to characters from the film. Children can recreate their favorite scenes from the movie, or take the Incredible family on new adventures with these toys.
