Now that we can FINALLY go out without masks on (well, at least in most situations), I have to go back to wearing makeup. I’m kidding when I say since the start of the pandemic I’ve only worn a little face powder on my forehead, mascara and eyeliner. Why go all out and do up my entire face when no one is going to see it?
I had to go out and buy a bunch of new makeup once the masks started coming off. In a way, I feel like I need to re-learn how to use make up again too.
I enjoy being a blogger and getting to learn more about different brands and products, some of which I might not otherwise know about. Such is the case with Shades by Shan.
Shades By Shan is a San Francisco based impact driven cosmetics company that launched in June 2018. Growing up with a single mother, Shan has seen first hand what single parents have to do to support their children. We have made it our mission to support these true heroes. Therefore a portion of proceeds from each purchase goes to support single parents in need, thru our own 501c3, The MamaBerries Nonprofit Foundation. We sell online and at Planet Beauty stores around California. We are a small but mighty team that has come together to create a berry beautiful difference in the community.
Shades by Shan sent me some really nice products to try out.
This shimmery and pore-minimizing powder also works great on the body, giving you that sun kissed summer glow! Apply with a large loose setting brush or mix with oil or body lotion for an unreal and healthy glow!
I use lose powered, instead of a compact. I prefer to brush powder on my face instead of dabbing it. I feel like using a compact doesn’t look good on my skin. Not only that, I’m not a fan of wearing makeup, so the lighter the better. This powder is very light and airy. You don’t even feel like you are wearing it. I appreciate that, especially in the hot summer.
This powder is enough to set your whole look without overdoing it. Not only that, it gives your skin a beautiful, healthy looking glow.
I think this makes my skin look like it’s been “photoshopped,” because it seems to cover up the “imperfections,” and I have a lot of them. Ha Ha.
Even if I don’t wear any face makeup at all, I won’t leave the house without brushing some of this on my face.
Uncover a new glow with the all-new Shades By Shan Summer of Love Collection: an alluring peachy pink that is complementary to all skin tones.
I “discovered” highlighter right before the pandemic started. My co-worker used to wear it all the time. I liked how it made her skin look. Of course COVID happened, and I had no use for a highlighter just hanging out at home (I didn’t even wear makeup).
This adds the perfect amount of shimmer and shine to wear ever you put it. I put it on top of my cheeks, and a little on top of my nose. I’ve even used a little bit of it on my eyes (just below my brows) to add a touch of shimmer and shine there too.
This is NOT “sparkly” or too much (if that makes sense?). It add a natural “glow” to your skin. For someone like me who looks like “death warmed over” most of the time (ha ha), it’s nice to have some “life” back into my face and complexation.
I’ve been adding a touch of this to my face every time I leave the house.
I also received a really nice lip gloss. Unfortunately I am not a fan of lipstick or lip gloss. It’s also a bit dark for me (I’m REALLY pale). I’m going to give it to my daughter. She has black hair and olive skin, so it would probably work better with her complexion. Plus she wears lip gloss and lipstick from time to time.
So far I am really impressed by the makeup from Shades by Shan. Not only are they wonderful products, but a percentage of sales goes to her Mamaberries Foundation that helps out single parents. You can read more about it here – The Mamaberries Foundation.
The prices for the products are reasonable, as least I think so. They are more than what you’d find at a drug store, but you are also buying quality products.
