Do you wear perfume or cologne? Do you wear it on a regular basis? Do you have a favorite scent?
I used to wear a spritz of perfume daily, whenever I left our home. Being furloughed for 6+ months, and barely leaving my home, I neglected to wear perfume when I started back at work. I’ve been trying to remember to do it these days. I work early in the morning, so I am barely awake when I leave. I’d forget my head if it wasn’t attached, let alone a spritz of perfume.
One of my favorite scents is Chanel #5 ($$$!!!). I also like Angle by Thierry Mugler (also pricey). I can’t afford either of these (my hubby did buy me Angle once for Christmas). Why does perfume have to be expensive?
“Cheap” perfumes tend not to last that long, or they don’t smell that nice. I like quality perfumes.
I was recently introduced to a very unique perfume. It’s called “Mysterious Mix.” It’s by a company called Sholayered. It’s a very unique company name, and they sell a very unique perfume.

Sholayered was created by Sho Ishizaka. He strongly believes in practicing the art of Zen every day. I wish I could do something like that. Maybe I’ll make that my New Year’s resolution?
Here is more about Sholayered;
Keeping the ideals of a clean, healthy, Zen lifestyle at the forefront of development, SHOLAYERED prides itself on using raw materials in an effort to reduce the environmental impact it has on the world. SHOLAYERED creates products that incorporate natural, high quality materials that do not contain toxins, in turn promoting a healthy, beautiful lifestyle across its entire fragrance line.
This is not your ordinary perfume. This perfume is special.
If you like perfume, you have probably heard about the “layers” that perfumes have – top note, middle note, base note.
Perfumes are created to give you “layers” of scent. That is fine, but usually the base note is the strongest, and you never truly get to experience the other scents in the perfume.
The key to creating a disruptive fragrance lies in the innovative production methods that set it apart from more conventional perfumes and colognes. Most conventional perfumes have a three-layered scent structure called a “scent pyramid.” The scent pyramid is constructed with a top note, middle note, and a base note. The base note scent is what tends to leave a strong, long-lasting impression, which can sometimes overpower the pure, delicate layers of the fragrance notes underneath. SHOLAYERED aims to enhance the transparency of a scent by omitting this base note, as this exposes the simplest form of the scent in the finish of each fragrance.
Interesting…
I was sent a spray bottle of their “Mysterious Mix” scent to try out for myself. Other available scents include;
- Olive Vodka (Subtle Allure)
- Orange Blossom (Focused Calm)
- Sugar Lychee (Inner Peace)
- Fresh Pair (Bright Energy)
- Lemon Peel (Clean Simplicity)
And of course, Mysterious Mix (Classic Curiosity).
As you can see, the scents have a Zen-like quality to them in regards with what they can help you with.
I chose Mysterious Mix because I liked the scent’s description;
A majestic blend of complex, woody notes that open the mind to a world of curiosity and freedom.
I’m a very curious person too.
The fragrance notes with this scent are woodsy and warm. It’s a tranquil combination of fresh citrus notes and open, enigmatic curiosity, that calms the mind and prepares the body for inner peace and exploration.
I NEED inner peace right now.
The perfume arrived in a tall, thin spray bottle. It’s not a typical perfume bottle, but then again, this is not a typical perfume.
This scent is truly very lovely. It does have a woodsy scent to it, but not in a masculine way. It’s definitely a more feminine woodsy scent. Maybe even a bit of a floral/woodsy mix (at least that is how it smells to me).
Mysterious Mix is not a strong scent. It’s very light, making it a great scent to wear to work (I work with little kids, I don’t need strong scented perfumes).
I’m not sure about the curiosity part, but I do find the scent very calming and relaxing. In fact, it evokes memories of summer time with my cousins in Pennsylvania. I honestly don’t know why, but it does. I’ll have to have my cousin smell this one day and see if she thinks the same thing. Something about it just brings back summer in Pennsylvania memories.
The best thing about this perfume is that it’s very affordable. The spray bottle I have is $15.00. They do have larger, more traditional sizes bottles ($35), but I think the smaller spray bottles are better. They are more portable, and it’s a nice way to find your favorite scent before committing to a larger bottle.
Sholayered offers other products including a cream perfume, body wash, body lotion and more.
Check them out for yourself at ShoFragrance.com. I believe the brand is also on social media.
I think the smaller perfume spray bottles would make a great stocking stuffer gift, or a gift for your co-workers, best friend and a “Secret Santa.”
