Now that the holiday season is in full swing, it’s hard not to reminisce about the holidays over the years. I can’t help but think about my parents and great-grandparents, and how much I miss them.
We had several holiday traditions in my family when I was growing up. Take for example Christmas day breakfast. My great-grandparents would always come over bright and early for a huge breakfast. Being a kids, I spent most of the time down in the playroom with my new toys, but I did love the smell of bacon cooking and warm scones fresh from the oven.
Another holiday tradition was attending candle light service at our church on Christmas Eve, then staying after it was over to sign Christmas carols on the steps of the church with other patrons.
Another holiday tradition was ornaments.
Growing up my older sister always decorated the Christmas tree that we had in the formal living room. She put it together (it was the kind you had to assemble branch by branch) and she decorated it. I always wanted to help her, but it was her thing. To make up for that my mom would take me out to buy a real Christmas tree that we kept down in the playroom/family room. It was “my” tree to decorate. To help me with decorations, my mom started to buy me a new ornament for my tree every year. She wanted me to have a plethora of ornaments to take with me when I moved out and/or got married. It worked. When I got married and moved out I had plenty of wonderful ornaments to put on my family’s tree. I still have all those ornaments to this day, and I still put them on our Christmas tree.
I started the same tradition with my kids. Every year we bought them a new ornament for the tree. They even have a few from my mom that she gave them when she was still alive (she died when our kids were 3 and 5 1/2 years old – they are 19 and 21 years old now). Those ornaments are very precious because they were a gift from their grandparents who have both passed on.
I hope that our kids will carry this tradition on with their own kids some day.
Over the years we have both gifted the kids new ornaments, or let them pick them out themselves. All of their ornaments reflect what they were interested in at one point or another. Our son has a lot of trucks, cars and trains ornaments where as our daughter has girly things like mini Ugg boots, Barbies and sparkly ornaments.
A lot of their ornaments are personalized with their names and the year it was gifted to them too.
As we hang them up we reflect upon past Christmases.
If you are looking to start a similar tradition with your child or grandchild, or you are in the market for some new ornaments or ornaments to give as a gift, check out the website Ornaments with Love.
Ornaments with Love specializes in personalized ornaments. They carry many designs including occupation ornaments, family ornaments, pet ornaments, funny ornaments and more. They even offer personalized table top decor.
It’s been a pleasure to work with Ornaments with Love over the years. They have such charming ornaments. They have all lasted well over the years. Their colors are vibrant and the personalization is well written.
Here are some of my ornaments from over the years from Ornaments with Love.
I whited out our names and last name for security reasons.
As you can see we even include our pets on the personalized ornaments. After all, they are a part of our family too.
This year I have the honor of working with Ornaments with Love again. It’s been a few years since I’ve worked with them last.
I was sent another personalized product from their website. Instead of a traditional ornament this year I opted for one of their table top decor items.
The table top piece I ordered is called Family Tabletop Glitter Christmas Tree Decoration. This particular product can be personalized with 4-7 names. If you need more or less ornaments or decorations, they have much more to choose from.
Please note that I also removed our family’s name and the names of our kids from this decoration.
Notice how sparkly the tree is? It looks amazing when the light from our Christmas tree and a near by (fake) candle reflects off of the glitter. The glitter stays on the ornament/decoration too. It doesn’t get all over the place like other glitter products can do.
I love how this comes complete with an attached easel back.
Off hand I’m not sure how tall this is. It’s not too tall. The snowman on either side of it are just little bric-a-brac from the local dollar store that I picked up a few years ago. I thought they were the perfect size to be placed next to this darling little tree. I’d have to guess may 5 inches, give or take?
I love this little tree, and as you can see, it’s a wonderful addition to our holiday decor.
I’ve always been so impressed with Ornaments with Love. I actually have three ornaments in mind that I want to purchase as gifts this year. One for my nephew and two for my co-workers. I’d show images of the specific ones here, but I don’t want them to see them in case they are reading this post.
Here are some other examples of the sweet ornaments available at Ornaments with Love.
Ornaments with Love takes great pride in their products. That is evident by how well they are packaged and shipped to you to ensure that they arrive in perfect condition.
They also include a holiday gift bag to put the ornament in if you plan on giving it as a gift. I love that they add that extra special touch.
If you would like to check out all they have to offer, visit OrnamentswithLove.com. They can also be found on social media. All of their links are found at the top of their website.
PLEASE NOTE: It’s best to order ASAP so that you get the ornament(s) in time. The last date to order for Christmas is December 18th (unless you wanted to pay expedited shipping).
It’s never too late to start a new holiday tradition. This year consider gifting a child, grandchild, significant other, or best friend a new, personalized ornament. Then each year follow up with another new ornament to add to their collection.
What do you think about gifting someone an ornament?
What are some of your family’s holiday traditions?

Your tree looks great! I started buying my daughters Hallmark ornaments when they were born. It’s become a tradition that each year we go and they pick one out. They have all their ornaments packed away in tote, waiting for their own Christmas tree. My daughter is getting married in July. I can’t wait to see her tree next year with all the ornaments.

Your tree is pretty. I have several ornaments from throughout the years too, a lot of them personalized. I also own the Family Tabletop Glitter Christmas Tree Decoration with our names. Love it!
