I’m not sure where most of my site readers live, but chances are most readers have already experienced a winter blast this past week. BRRR!!! It’s been so cold. Winter hasn’t even officially started yet and already I’m looking forward to Spring. I don’t really mind the cold, per say, except when I have to take our dog on a long walk, deal with slippery stairs and sidewalks and shovel my car out. I rather enjoy winter from the comfort of my own home. It’s pretty to look at – it’s just not fun to be exposed to it.
Now that the cold weather is here it becomes a challenge as to what to do as a family on the weekends. It’s too cold to be outside and our teenagers wouldn’t be caught dead being seen with their parents at the mall. So what is a family to do when it’s too cold to be outside and it’s boring to be stuck inside?
One thing that we like to do as a family year round is have a Family Movie Night. Sometimes we all agree on what movie to watch together, other times it’s a bit of disagreement.
When it’s cold outside the last thing I want to do it go out to a video rental kiosk or store, rent a movie and then have to worry about getting it back the next day to avoid a late fee. It’s especially tricky in the cold weather months because weather can sometimes be a factor when you have to return a movie. If the roads are treacherous and it’s not a good idea to be driving on them, is it worth your safety to return a movie to avoid a late fee?
This is why we enjoy renting Movies on Demand (MOD). With a click of a button we can watch popular new releases in the comfort of our home. We don’t have to worry about driving to/from the rental place. We can stay snuggly and warm inside. Plus there are no worries about late fees – ever!
There are some great hit movies currently available on Movies on Demand right now including Man of Steel, Planes, We’re the Millers, Turbo, Smurfs 2 and the Fast and the Furious 6.
There are also plenty of great holiday movies to choose from including All I Want for Christmas, All is Bright (this film is rather depressing and not family friendly), Babes in Toyland, Bah Hum Duck (a Loony Tunes movie), Bad Santa, Beethoven’s Christmas (cute movie!), A Christmas Carol, A Christmas Story (classic!) and Four Christmases to name a few.
My family unanimously agreed to watch Deck the Halls staring Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick.
Matthew Broderick plays Steven Finch, a popular neighborhood eye doctor who is known for his beautiful Christmas displays and unique holiday spirit.
The Finch family get new neighbors – the Hall family. The father, Buddy, is feeling a bit down about his life. That is until he comes up with a crazy idea – he wants to decorate his house with so many lights that it can be seen from outer space.
As Buddy is trying to fulfill his goal, Steven Finch is trying everything he can to stop him. The pair themselves clashing on a lot of things, most especially Buddy’s ever increasing light display that keeps Steve up at night and fills their quiet neighborhood with bumper to bumper traffic.
Will Buddy succeed, or will Steve succeed in stopping Buddy? To find out you’ll need to rent Deck the Halls from Movies on Demand.
This is just an all around fun movie. My entire family enjoyed it. It even resulted in us having a conversation about holiday decorations and how much is too much and what it would be like if we had a house with a yard (how would we decorate it?).
You can’t have a Family Movie Night without some yummy treats, including popcorn. Since it’s cold outside nothing warms you up better than a piping hot mug full of hot chocolate – with marshmallows of course!
Movies on Demand was kind enough to send my family a special Holiday Warm & Cozy Kit featuring hot cocoa, popcorn, candy, a MOD branded mug and a MOD branded soft and fuzzy blanket to snuggle up with. They even included some candy canes! That was the perfect addition to our little pre-Christmas Holiday Movie Night. In addition they sent me Cable Cash to rent the movie. Thank you MOD!
If you would like to learn more about Movies on Demand and to check out the available holiday movies, as well as new releases, visit www.RentMoviesonDemand.com. Check them out on Facebook and Twitter too.
Movies on Demand would like to help you send a lucky reader a Holiday Warm & Cozy Kit too. The kit will include;
- $100 Gift Card (so you can buy more goodies for your family and friends)
- $20 Cable Cash
- Popcorn & Candy
- Hot Cocoa
- MOD branded products (like a mug and blanket)
Thank you Movies on Demand!
