Summer is upon us, and now that the pandemic is FINALLY slowing down, families across the country are planning on long awaited trips to visit family and friends, as well as much needed vacations. My family and I are not planning on traveling this year, but maybe next year (we’re still airing on the side of caution, even though we’re all vaccinated).
I personally do not know anyone that doesn’t rely on some form of technology. Most people I know cannot “function” without their smartphones (just ask my kids). Their smartphones are their “life support system,” sad to say. So many people are missing out on life because their noses are pointing down towards their phones.
For some people, it’s their tablets that they can’t do without. If you have young children, chances are you own a tablet to entertain them “on the go,” whether it’s movies are online games.
Sometimes we simply need our phones and tablets for work or personal reasons.
The great thing about smartphones and tablets is that they are lightweight and portable. You can easily pack them away in a suitcase or backpack. They can go with you camping, a day at the beach, a hike in the mountains and just about any place else you can think of. Portability is not the problem – it’s the WIFI connectivity that is.
Have you ever been some place where you are unable to connect because there is no available WIFI? I’ve had that happen to me plenty of times. My daughter has been experiencing it a lot lately. She has a long break in-between clients (sometimes 2-3 hours). It’s not worth the time or money to come back home (she has to pay a toll to cross the bridge), so she usually finds a park or some place to park and catch up on her school work or updates her client’s records. That is easier said than done because most of the there is no WIFI available to her, so she is unable to do anything that requires her to go online. She has to lug books around with her just so she has something to do (read).
There is a really cool gadget that can help you to connect to WIFI, even when there is nothing available to you in the area. It’s called GlocalMe.
GlocalMe is a portable WIFI hotspot. It creates a WIFI network you can log into from your smartphone, tablet or other device, just like you would normally with the internet. Best of all, it’s portable AND it can be used in the United States and other countries. That means, if you are lucky enough to backpack through Europe (for example), you can connect to the internet provided you have you GlocalMe device with you.
GlocalMe is about the same size as a smartphone, or portable charger. That means you can easily tuck it into your car’s glove compartment, purse, backpack and/or luggage.
GlocalMe has different devices to choose from. Some have more features than others.
Powered by patented Cloud SIM technology and/or a user’s personal SIM card, GlocalMe’s new products include the following:
- FirstG – The most budget-friendly option, the FirstG mobile hotspot provides users with the flexibility to utilize their own SIM card for secure internet connectivity, features 14 hours of battery life and the ability to share connectivity with up to eight smart Wi-Fi devices.
- DuoTurbo – Featuring dual modems and a user-friendly touch screen, DuoTurbo ensures the strongest possible connection for up to 10 smart devices at a time, making it the ideal lifeline for remote workers and families straining their home networks.
- TriForce – The most durable of the solutions and designed with slip and shock proof casing, 3 universal device charging ports, and 28 hours of battery life, TriForce is the must-have gadget for the increasing population of digital nomads who set up their home base out of the home – even if that is on a remote mountain top.
I was sent the GlocalMe TriForce to review.
Believe it or not, this device can provide up to 28 hours of a secure WIFI connection for up to 10 devices. WOW! That means you, your significant other and your children can all use it to connect to WIFI at the same time. There is no need to purchase separate devices for everyone.
I like that the TriForce is sleek and slim. You can easily tuck it into your back pocket – that’s how slim it is. It truly is a portable device.
Once you have decided on which GlocalMe device suits your needs the best, the next thing you need to do is purchase your data package.
GlocalMe asks you to choose from different parts of the world, so it can get the best data package for you.
As you can see from the screen shot (above), they have data packages available for pretty much everywhere you can think of.
You can purchase unlimited data packages, or data packages for a certain time frame. You can even purchase data for a single day if that is all you’ll need it for (such as a day at the beach).
Here are just a few examples of data packages. You’ll have to check the website for more options.
You will also need to download the FREE GlocalMe app in order to use your device.
Setting up your GlocalMe device and utilizing the data that you purchased is relatively easy, even for “technologically challenged” people like me.
This brief video shows you just how easy it is.
This is an ingenious idea, and I wish someone would have thought of this sooner. There were plenty of times over the years where I wish we had a way to connect to the internet, whether it was sharing beach photos on Facebook with family and friends, so getting some important work done for our bosses. It’s even nice to be able to listen to our music on apps such as Spotify without having to download the music directly on our phones.
I also love having this device available in case we lose power and our personal WIFI is unavailable. It’s comforting to know that we can still “connect” to the “outside world” and keep up with news, as well as keep in touch with others.
A GlocalMe would make an excellent graduation gift for a student (high school or college graduate). It would also make a great gift for anyone in your life who loves to travel or go on adventures, whether it’s daily, weekly, monthly or longer. This is also a great gift for YOU, that way you know you’ll always be able to connect at any time, from any place (except the moon!). It’s also great to have in case of emergencies.
If you would like to learn more about GlocalMe, visit them online at GlocalMe.com. You can also check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. I recommend checking out the YouTube videos which provide you with brief, better to understand explanations on how to fully enjoy all the benefits of your GlocalMe device.
