How is your summer going? Have you been able to do fun things with your family and friends, in spite of the current pandemic?
Honestly, my family and I have not done anything this summer. It’s partially due to COVID, as well as the fact that both of my kids work two part time jobs, as well as take college classes. We barely see them anymore, let alone find the time to schedule them to spend the day with us to do something fun. All my husband and I can do is watch old family videos of our entire family doing fun things like going to the zoo and the beach.
Tomorrow my husband and I are going to a county fair (something we do every other summer). Sadly, our kids cannot go with us.
We MIGHT go to the Bronx Zoo and/or the Museum of Natural History (in NYC) this week as well. We’ll see…
There are so many fun things that families can do during the summer months – visit the zoo, go to the beach, go camping, and go on a family road trip and have an adventure.
There is no reason why these summer fun activities can’t last all year long. They can with PLAYMOBIL’s Family Fun play sets.
The family fun play sets include sets for zoos, the beach, family road trip, hotel, boat fishing and more.
I LOVE going to the zoo. It’s one of my favorite places to go. I guess it’s because I love animals. I can spend hours watching them play and go about their normal day. That is why I hope we’ll have the opportunity to go to the zoo this week.
I was sent a couple of sets to check out for myself. It’s funny, but I received sets from the Family Fun zoo series of playsets. There are several of them on their website. If you combined one or more (even all the sets), your PLAYMOBIL people will have a grand time.
I received the following.
A very special attraction for all zoo visitors are the graceful flamingos. These elegant animals with their chic pink plumage and long thin legs are a real crowd puller. However, the animals do not let themselves be impressed by their popularity, but stand comfortably in the water and stretch their necks into the air. The set contains six flamingos in three different colors. With the transparent base plates the figures can stand better.
These little flamingos are adorable! They look like real flamingos.
I like that PLAYMOBIL included stands for the flamingos to stand on so that they don’t tip over. The stands are light in color, so they won’t really distract from the over all look of the bird.
I was surprised to see that the flamingo’s necks moved up and down. That way you can position them in different ways.
The set comes with six flamingos. There are three different color combinations (two of each).
With great enthusiasm the visitors flock to the Orangutan enclosure. It is astonishing with what speed and agility the large primates swing over branches and lianas. The male is getting a treat from a wooden tube while the female is happily dangling from the swinging ring. The animal keeper with fresh fruit is also just coming. Immediately the Orangutan babies rush towards her and quickly snatch two bananas from the bucket. What naughty little rascals! The playset consists of a PLAYMOBIL animal keeper, a pair of Orangutan parents and two babies, a tree with a liana and a swinging ring, a wooden tube filled with food, two bananas, two apples, a rake and many other extras.
This is a really cute set, and I can see children having a lot of fun swinging the orangutans from the branches and vines.
The babies are adorable!
I like that the adult orangutan’s necks move up and down, as well as it’s arms and legs.
I’m not always good with the directions, but honestly, I found it easy to put together. Thankfully there were not too many pieces to this set. You could put it together just looking at the picture on the box.
They thought of everything with this set. They made the orangutan’s “hands” able to grasp the branches, vines and a “swing-like” piece. They can even hold their food (bananas and apples).
Here are some photos from this set.
The only part of this set I didn’t like was the “treats” that go into the wooden “log” that hangs from the tree. Those pieces are TINY – really tiny. I can see them being lost right away. For that reason I never took them out of the package. When I donate this set to my workplace, I am not going to include those treats.
The “log” is not shown in my photos. I think one of my cats got to the pieces before I was able to set everything up because I couldn’t find the “hook” it hangs from.
On their own, these sets would be fun to play with (although you’d probably want a person or two with the flamingo set). I think combining these with the other zoo sets found in PLAYMOBIL’s Family Fun collection would lead to hours of creative, and adventurous fun.
The best part of these sets is that they can be played with and enjoyed year round, not just during the summer months.
If your family did something fun this summer, like visit the zoo, these play sets can help your child/grandchild to relive their favorite memories over and over again.
These sets work with other PLAYMOBIL sets, so you can mix and match the pieces.
