Wow! Can you believe it. We’re almost to the end of our virtual camp experience with #CampWarnBros. The past seven weeks have flown by. Hopefully you and your camper(s) have been enjoying the recommended films, as well as all the fun activities I have shared with you over the past few weeks.
This week is no exception. This week’s film is one of my all time favorite animated characters – Tom & Jerry.
I have been watching Tom & Jerry since I was a child. Back then they aired on Saturday mornings along with the other classics like The Flintstones and Looney Tunes. Back then I wished that Tom & Jerry could just get along. I always rooted for Jerry because I felt like he didn’t do much wrong, and it was Tom who was always starting trouble with him. Ha Ha.
This week’s film is called Tom & Jerry: The Fast and the Furry.
Tom and Jerry are up to their usual antics. This time their fighting and chasing each other around causes them to get booted from their home by Tom’s owner. Lucky for them, they saw an advertisement for a race called the “Fabulous Super Race” where the winner will win a glorious mansion. Needless to say, both Tom and Jerry want to win the race for themselves.
The duo create their own vehicles in a local junk yard, then head off to Hollywood, California to enter themselves in the race. Other contestants include a grandma, a “soccer mom,” a celebrity and of course a pair of “evil” contestants who will stop at nothing to win, just like Tom and Jerry.
The race was suppose to end in Mexico, but due to its impressive popularity, the race promoter decides to extend the race into the Amazon jungle. Even after the Amazon, the race decides to go even further to Antarctica.
As the race becomes more and more popular, more destinations are added including Australia, Borneo, Asia, Europe and back to the United States. Their vehicles also undergo a lot of transformations including vehicles that can go under water, and flying in the air.
Who will win the race? Tom? Jerry? One of the other racers? To find out, you need to rent or purchase Tom & Jerry: The Fast and the Furry. Look for it wherever movies are rented/sold.
I found this trailer (below) on Youtube. It’s for the DVD release of the film. Please know that this is an old trailer. The film is also available on Blu-ray.
This is certainly a crazy race! It’s one thing to come up with a super fast vehicles, but it’s another to make vehicles that can go underwater and in the air too.
There is A LOT of action going on in this film. It’s sure to keep kids (and adults) interested from start to finish. Even non Tom & Jerry fans should appreciate this non-stop exciting film.
I think this film would make a great way to open up a conversation with children about the various locations the racers go to on their journey to the finish line.
I’ve never been a fan of the “modern” Tom & Jerry (I prefer the “old school” ones that I grew up with), but these characters did grow on me.
Sometimes films are predictable. I honestly couldn’t predict what was going to happen in this film. Talk about a wild and crazy ride.
To get you excited about this film, as well as a super fun activity the whole family can enjoy, check out how to make a car your camper can play with. You can even use it for your own “drive in movie theater” in your own home.
I love this idea!
All the instructions can be found here – Camp Warner Bros Tom and Jerry
The instructions include everything you’ll need for the car including printables for the license plate, steering wheel, tires and more.
If you make this project I would LOVE to see the completed car. Please email me at Kimberly “at” SheScribes “dot” com (replace “at” with a @ and “dot” with a .).
Join me next week for our final week of #CampWarnerBros featuring an wonderful family that I haven’t watched in a very long time. I’ll give you a hint… Urkle!
