I’m behind coming up with St. Patrick’s Day craft ideas for the kids I work with. I had two ideas, but I need to get the material ready to make them with the kids.

I am primarily Irish (as per my DNA tests). I am embarrassed to say that I didn’t know a lot of the interesting information found in this book.
I wouldn’t say this is JUST an educational book. I think this is a fun read because it gives craft and activities that your family can do to celebrate the day including rainbow shakers, BINGO, scavenger hunt and yummy shamrock cookies.
I think this book is an easy read for the targeted age group, but older children should enjoy this book too.
I love the illustrations featured throughout the book too.
For younger children, check out this book.
The St. Patrick’s Day Alphabet
Written by Liz Saunders and illustrated Lindsay Dale-Scott
Ages 3-6
St. Patrick’s Day is associated with leprechauns, shamrocks, and pots of gold, but there is so much more to this Irish holiday. What luck, then, that the St. Patrick’s Day Alphabet is here to teach kids the history, traditions, and customs of the holiday in an engaging ABC format. It also includes a leprechaun hunt: Kids will love searching for these sneaky little fairies hiding throughout the book.
I thought this was going to be JUST an alphabet book that starts with the letter “A” and features an illustration of something that starts with the letter “A.” That is not the case with this book. This book provides information about the letter/word on each page. For example, “E” is for Eirinn go Brach. It goes on to explain what that means, as well as some information about an Irish cake.
Another example is “K” for Kiss. The book goes on to explain about kissing the Blarney Stone, and information about the Blarney Castle.
This book is for kids, but I think parents will have a lot of fun reading this book with the kids too.
For the littlest ones who are going to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, we have a super adorable board book.

Cute. Cute. Cute. This is an adorable board book that is made for little hands to read and enjoy.
Each page features a colorful illustration and a sweet comment like “My greatest Irish treasure is out love is o’so big” and “From the top of the morning’ ’til the stars come out at night…”. Each page confirms why your child “shamrocks your world.”
What would St. Patrick’s Day be without leprechauns?
My work kids LOVE to create traps to capture a leprechaun. Leprechauns are so hard to catch.
If your child wants to catch a leprechaun, check out this book.

Written by Adam Wallace and illustrated by Andy Elkerton
Ages 4-8
You’ve been planning night and day, and finally you’ve created the perfect trap with shamrocks, pots of gold, and rainbows galore! Now all you need to do is wait. Is this the year you’ll finally catch the leprechaun? Start a St. Patrick’s Day tradition with this fun and lively children’s picture book and get inspired to build leprechaun traps of your own at home or in the classroom! Laugh along in this zany story for kids that blends STEAM concepts with hilarious rhymes and vibrant illustrations!
This fun book is part of the “How to Catch…” franchise (Unicorn, Easter Bunny, Elf…).
The little leprechaun goes around town to all the houses, finding ways to escape the traps the kids have set for him. One poor boy ends up in a bird cage that was part of his trap for the leprechaun.
The text is rhyming, which kids always love.
The silly, colorful illustrations really add to this fun story.
I think after reading this book kids might realize that catching a mischievous leprechaun is impossible. Ha Ha.
