I’m all for American made products, as well as supporting American business. I have nothing against foreign companies and foreign made products, it’s just I think many things should be made herein the states so that we can stop relying on foreign made goods. Not only that, products made in the United States also creates jobs.
There is a company here in the U.S. that not only produces American made products, but it also supports military spouses and families. It’s called R. Riveter.
Riveter’s name comes from the popular 1940’s cultural icon of WWII, Rosie the Riveter. Her famous “We Can Do It!” quote inspired women of the decade and acted as a symbol for female-empowered war efforts. She’s pictured at the top of this post.
My grandfather was in the Navy. My uncle was in the Marines. My father was in the Army. My husband’s cousin’s husband was killed in action. I have other family members that were in the military service, so I am more than happy to support and promote businesses that help support military families.
R. Riveter helps to empower women with flexible income, while also giving women a sense of community and teamwork.
The pieces are created by people across the country, then the pieces come together to create beautiful bags.
R. Riveter uses recycled materials, such as leather and canvas, to create some of the most beautiful bags I’ve ever seen. From tote bags to wristlets, R. Riveter has many bags to choose from.
Here are a few examples.
I received a bag to review. I received the Wilson bag in Liberty Green color (green is my favorite color).
When it comes to reviewing bags and totes, I always look at the stitching and how durable the product is. I look for any “mistakes” as well as give it a good “tug” test to see if anything is lose or comes apart. I found this bag to be very durable. It’s exceptionally well made. I’m very impressed.
This is a nice size tote bag, especially for the summer season. It’s big enough to carry a towel, swim suit and some flip flops.
I’ve been using this bag for work. It’s the right size to carry my water bottle, cellphone, some paperwork (in folders), pens, my phone charger and several other things. It’s very roomy inside. It even has a very large pocket.
So far, so good. Even with daily use, this bag looks great. It’s held together perfectly.
I like that they add a dog tag on the handle. That’s a nice touch considering the bag is made by military spouses.
There is a small patch at the bottom of the bag with numbers on it. I’m assuming they identify the people or persons who created the bag.
R. Riveter bags might be a bit on the pricey side, however, they are comparable in pricing to other bags of this quality. Designer bags are costly, but they are much sought after. Plus R. Riveter bags support military families.
In addition to supporting military families, R. Riveter also gives back to BreastCancer.org, Warriors & Quiet Waters Foundation, Military Child Education Coalition, Holbrook Farms Retreat and more. You can learn all about their charitable work on the company partnerships page.
R. Riveter also has a rewards program where you can earn points to turn into R. Riveter cash that can be used to purchase R. Riveter bags. They have different ways you can earn (write a review, make a purchase, your birthday…). You can read about it on the Riveter Rewards page.
