I have been trying very hard to eat better and make healthier for me choices when it comes to the food and beverages I eat and drink. I do want to lose weight, but I’m also doing it because I want to get healthier. I also want to ensure that my A1C keeps at a good level. Ideally I would love to be off some medications and supplements, but I doubt that would happen. None the less, I want to make sure that I don’t require any additional medications and supplements as I get older.
That is another thing – I don’t want to FEEL old. It’s bad enough that I lack energy. I don’t want to be fifty-something and feel like I’m in my eighties (I have seen some incredibly active 80+ year olds too).
I have been drinking a lot of herbal teas lately. I drink a lot of coffee, so I have been trying to drink more non-caffeinated herbal teas. I have also been drinking some herbal teas to help with a variety of situations such as those that help you fall asleep and one that aides with an upset stomach (ginger tea).
I was recently introduced to the brand Amu Nutrition. The brand offers an interesting assortment of teas to help with a variety of situations, such as cleanse and detox, energy and vitality, and immunity and resilience, to name a few. They also offer products I have never heard of before, such as Mongolian Shilajit, which my son actually heard about on social media. They also have a Jujube Korean beauty tea and hair rejuvenation products.
According to the brand;
Amu Nutrition’s Mongolian heritage shines through in our wild-harvested herbs, sourced from the Altai mountains of Mongolia. This region offers a purity beyond organic, emphasizing our commitment to authenticity. Crafted in homage to Mongolian nomadic culture, our teas deliver a distinct and authentic flavor profile that captures the essence of the land. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, they promote optimal hydration and aid digestion, making them a natural choice for wellness enthusiasts.
Amu Nutrition was kind enough to send me an assortment of products to try out for myself.
Dailey Detox Tea
A revitalizing blend of Chrysanthemum, Goji Berry, Lotus Seed and Jujube, designed to support natural detoxification and enhance overall wellness.
I will admit that I was a bit weary of trying this tea. I have heard about detox teas that caused people to have explosive diarrhea and horrible stomach cramps. I waited until the weekend before I first tried this drink, just to be on the safe side. Thankfully I didn’t experience any negative side effects at all.
I really enjoy the taste of this tea. It’s a fruity/floral mixture and I find it very refreshing. Of the three teas, this one is my favorite.
Himalayan Buckwheat
Known for its rich nutty flavor and health benefits, including high antioxidant content and digestive support.
I was a bit surprised by this tea. When I think of buckwheat I think of the Little Rascals character (ha ha). I also think of it as an ingredient in making gluten-free products (my son tends to eat gluten-free products). Buckwheat is actually a seed, not a grain. I thought that was interesting.
I think this tea might be an acquired taste. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad. It’s just “different.” I don’t think “tea” when I drink this. It’s hard to describe.
Balanced Digestion Tea
Featuring fennel seeds and nettle, this tea aids in digestive health, reduces bloating, and enhances nutrient absorption.
This is a delicious tea. It has a nice flavor profile. I can’t really explain what it tastes like. I thought it would have an odd taste due to the fennel (I’m not a fan of fennel) but whatever it’s mixed with lessens the taste of the fennel, which is good for me.
I think this tea specifically has helped my stomach feel better.
I am not a doctor or scientist, so I cannot comment on the health benefit claims. I can only share my personal experiences.
Drinking these teas daily (including the one below) was a bit of a challenge for me, only because I am used to drinking 3-4 cups of coffee. I still drink at least one cup of coffee, but I have been trying to drink only these teas throughout the day (before work and after work). They are also helping me to drink more water, which is another health benefit.
I have found that my stomach doesn’t feel (or look) bloated these days. I don’t have that “full” feeling like I overate (even if I didn’t eat anything).
I do feel like I’m a bit more energized. I have found myself doing things like using the swings and going down the slides in the playground at work. Normally I don’t have the “oomph” to do stuff like that.
I feel more alert (mentally) too. I can actually finish a thought (ha ha). I’ve actually been able to post more frequently inside of not having what it takes to write a post.
I have been losing weight. That is not a benefit of any of these teas, but perhaps they are helping in some way too.
What I love about this tea is that the tea bags are indivually packaged, so they are easy to toss into your purse, tote, backpack and/or pocket to take with you on-the-go. In addition, these tea bags can be used 2-3 times, unlike other tea bags which have a single use only.
The boxes come with ten (10) individually packed tea bags. If you reuse them you can get 20-30 drinks from each box.
I have reused the ones I have tried thus far a few times each. The second use seems to have the same taste as the first use. The third time did too, but one of them (I can’t remember which one) didn’t taste as strong the third time. It still tasted good, just not as strong as the first use, if that makes sense.
I also received to review the brand’s Mongolian Shilajit. This is the product my son has heard about from social media.
Mongolian Shilajit
For over 2,000 years, the Mongolian people have used Shilajit, known locally as “Barakshun,” as an essential part of their traditional medicine. Sourced from the pristine, high-altitude Altai Mountains – home to the legendary eagle hunters – Mongolian Shilajit is highly valued for its exceptional healing properties.
Rich in fulvic acid and vital minerals, this rare and powerful substance is carefully harvested from the rugged slopes of one of the purest regions on Earth. Now, Amu Nutrition brings this ancient health secret to the USA, allowing you to experience its impressive benefits.
This is an interesting product. It’s not a tea, it’s more like a tar-like substance. It’s really thick and sticky.
To use this product, take a fork and add about three “rice size” globs of the product into a glass with a half a cup of hot (or warm) water, then stir to break it up and let it blend into the water. The brand suggests that if you don’t like the taste you can add a little honey to it. Honestly, I am not a fan (yet?) of the product without using a smidgen of honey, but as I am getting used to drinking it I am trying to use less and less honey. Not that honey is a bad thing. Honey has a lot of health benefits too, so it’s good either way.
The brand suggests drinking this daily for twenty days to feel the maximum benefits of the product. I’m not sure how many days I have been drinking it (I should have marked it on the calendar).
Overall I have been enjoying my experience with Amu Nutrition products. Even if I can’t see the internal health benefits, I still enjoy them as a beverage. If they taste good and have health benefits too, then that is a “win-win” in my book.
