Transition into your fall beauty routine with great deals on your favorite products

Brrr… do you sense a bit of nip in the air? Well… at least those of us who live on the East Coast do (people out West and down South still have hot weather).

I love this time of the year. I’m more of a sweater and sweatpants person than shorts and tank tops. I rather cuddle under a fuzzy blanket on a chilly evening than crank up the AC at full blast so as not to sweat to death.

With the changing of the seasons you really should change up your beauty routine. Living in the Northeast I have to think about the warm, dry air from having the heat on and windows closed that quickly dries out my skin. I get dry all over – from my face to my toes. For that reason I have to make certain to use a good moisturizer on my face and body.

Since I won’t be outside getting much sun I also need something that can help brighten my complexion so I don’t look worn out and dull.

To help you transition into your fall beauty routine, some popular brands are going to be offering special discounts on certain weeks through October 31, 2015. Look for special displays in the beauty section where you’ll find more than 20 new and timeless fan favorites from NEUTROGENA®, AVEENO® and RoC® available at your local Target – all in one place along with special discounts during certain weeks!

I recently went to our local Target to take advantage of some of the discounts as well as to pick up some new beauty products to help me transition into the fall weather.

I’ve really been wanting to try out some RoC products. I heard good things about the brand. I was especially interested in the RoC Multi- Correxion 5-in-1 Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30. That was one of the products that I picked up. I haven’t really had a chance to try it yet (I just picked it up), but I an anxious to see how well it works.

I LOVE Aveeno products. I have been using them for years. I first started using them when I was pregnant with my now 18 1/2 year old daughter. I had REALLY dry skin during pregnancy and my doctor recommended Aveeno’s oatmeal bath. It worked wonders and helped my skin not to itch as much.

My favorite Aveeno products are the Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub and Daily Moisturizer. I had to get those two products.

My daughter requested some make up remover cleansing toweletts. She keeps them in her bag. She likes to use them when she freshens up her make up in between work, school and/or her social life. I like to use them too sometimes, especially when I get home from work. I like to wash my make up off right away, but sometimes I don’t have time when I get home from work because I need to get dinner started. I like using the wipes because I can get the make up off my face and it will hold me over until after dinner when I can fully wash and moisturize my face.

I picked her up some Neutrogena Make Up Remover Cleansing Wipes while at Target. I find that they work very well, even on stubborn mascara.

Cleansing Oil

Speaking of Neutrogena, if you haven’t had a chance to try their NEW Ultra Light Cleansing Oil yet, you should give it a try. Initially I was reluctant to try it because when I think “oil” I think “grease” and I didn’t want to leave my skin greasy which could cause breakouts. This oil actually rinses off great, leaving behind no greasy residue. It does a great job removing make up and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated, unlike some other cleansers that can leave your skin feeling dry or sticky.

Back to School Skin Care for Mom & ‘Tweens/Teens from Johnson & Johnson #BacktoSchoolSkin

Back to School Mom & Daughter

It’s hard to believe that my kids have only been back to school for one full week. It seems like they have already been in school for weeks.

Leading up to the start of school the stress go to both my daughter and my son. Both started to break out in pimples. More so my son. He’s officially a Freshman this year and starting at the high school (my daughter is a Junior this year). His skin is a bit worse off than my daughter’s skin is.

My daughter takes pride in her skin, hair, health and overall appearance. She’s not conceded, she just likes to look and feel her best.

When I was offered the opportunity to host a Johnson & Johnson Back to School Skin party featuring two of their product lines – Clean & Clear and Aveeno I jumped at the opportunity. I knew it would be something fun that my daughter and I could both enjoy.

Clean & Clear

Ideally I wanted to host one party to make it easier but my daughter said she wanted to do the Clean & Clear one for her friends separately because she didn’t want her friends to feel awkward around people they didn’t know. One of her friends we’ve known since she was 3 years old, and another girl I have met only once before. The third girl I know of but I didn’t meet her until the day of the party. I could see why my daughter felt that way. As for me I was inviting my ex-neighbor and two current neighbors to my little soirée.

My daughter was excited to play host. She didn’t want me to do a thing. She wanted to do it all herself.

Her party was this past Friday after school. It was easier for her friends to take the bus home with my daughter. We drove them home afterwards.

I made sure to have things set up before they came home from school. Johnson & Johnson was kind enough to send a lot of great goodies for my daughter and her guests.

Since the girls were going to be doing their nails I set them up in our dining room. The last thing I wanted was nail polish or remover spilled on our light colored carpet or couch.

Dining Room

Johnson & Johnson sent some spa goodies like eye masks, towels, toe separators (for painting toe nails), hair ties (to keep the hair out of their faces), bath salts, nail polish and of course Clean & Clear products.

I grabbed an assortment of nail polish from my daughter’s room so that the girls has plenty of options. I also made sure to have some nail polish remover on hand.

Spa Goodies

My daughter helped me to pick out the snacks and beverages to serve to her guests. She just HAD to have this M&M and Dum Dum Lollipop cake that she saw at the store. It looked more like a birthday cake to me, but she really wanted it. I also had plenty of chips and dips on hand. I even picked up some chocolate chip cookies which I made while the girls were at the table chatting and doing their nails. Fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookies… MMMM!!

I let my daughter do her own thing, but I did have to step in and try and keep them on track. They were chatting about everything under the sun but I really wanted my daughter to focus on back to school skin care. Even though my daughter was shooting me looks I had to step in and ask the girls some questions about skin care and what their biggest issues were. It seemed like acne/pimples were their number one concern. One girl commented on how greasy her skin is and how embarrassed she is by it. And another girl commented on how hard it is to fully wash off make up. That was a great way to introduce the girls to the products which were on the table. They looked at them but didn’t talk about them until I stepped in.

I suggested that the girls pull their hair back, grab the towels and the products and head into the bathroom and see how easy it was the remove make up, dirt and grease from their face with the Clean & Clear Morning Burst Fruit Infusions Facial Scrub. They all spent a while in the bathroom washing their faces. It was nice to see a group of 16 year old girls without make up on (it’s amazing how different people look without make up on – some people look BETTER with a more natural look).

Clean & Clear Products

Next I handed the girls the remainder of the products (while they were still in the bathroom) and told them to try them out. They were in the bathroom for a long time. I could hear them giggling and chatting. I kept peeking in on them and they were all trying out the products. One of the girls was telling me that she already uses some of the products.

Their favorite was the Morning Burst Fruit Infusions Facial Scrub. They loved the scent and how clean it made their face feel.

Two of the girls had pimples on their face. I encouraged them to make sure they used the spot acne treatments.

I tried to engage the girls in conversation and told them that using products such as Clean & Clear can help keep their faces clean and reduce acne/pimples year round. Since they just started the new school year I told them that now is a great time to start clearing their skin. With Senior photos coming up in a few months they want the best skin they can possibly have.

I should make note that I will NOT take photos of other people’s children for my blog. The people I know personally are adamant about NOT having their faces, or their family’s faces, seen on the Internet. Even close personal family members don’t like their photos on the Internet. The last thing I was going to do was take photos of other people’s children and use them on my blog. One of the girls I have known since she was 3 years old (she’s 16 now). I know her parents too. I could have easily asked them. The other two girls I didn’t know that well, nor did I know their parents. I felt it would have been weird for me to call them up out of the blue and ask permission to use their daughter’s photos on my site.

The girls spent a good hour in the bathroom washing their faces, trying out the products, chatting, and one girl even re-applied her make up. Sigh… I wish she would have stayed fresh faced.

Afterwards the girls returned to the dining room and painted each other’s nails and gave each other manicures and pedicures. They also enjoyed the chips, salsa, cookies and cake that I had laid out for them on the kitchen counter (I didn’t want to take up room on the table).

Each girl was given a Johnson & Johnson tote bag filled with the Clean & Clear products they had the opportunity to try out. They all squealed – LITERALLY – with delight.

J&J Tote Bag

It was cute to see how thrilled they were. This is probably one of the best goodie bags they  have ever received. All of the girls went through the bag to check out what was inside (all the products they tried out). They also got to take home their eye masks (they never got around to using them) and the bath salts.

My daughter was kind enough to give my son all of the Clean & Clear products that we used for the girls to try out. The only thing my daughter kept for herself was the Morning Burst facial cleanser. My son has much more pimples than my daughter does and he can certainly use the products more than her. Clean & Clear products are for both girls AND boys. In fact my son regularly uses the Clean & Clear Advantage pimple treatment.

Clear skin can boost your confidence, and confidence can help you to succeed in school.

The next day (Saturday) was my turn to have a few friends over. Johnson & Johnson sent some Aveeno products for my friends to try out. Now that the kids are back to school it’s time for us moms to have a little “me time” and pamper ourselves. Going back to school is just as stressful on parents as it is on children.

Having kids home on summer vacation can be stressful, especially being bombarded with the constant “Mom, I’m bored. What can I do?” or in my case, chauffeuring my daughter all over the place from one friend’s house to the next.

Now that they are back in school the stress continues. Now I have to keep on them about their homework and studying, making sure they don’t miss the bus, preparing lunches, getting them up in morning and a zillion other things. That is why I can appreciate having some “me time” from time to time.

I invited over my ex-neighbor and two of my current neighbors (one next door the other in our complex). I had my husband take our kids out for a few hours.

For my guests I served our treats in the living room. I think I went a little overboard with the treats.

Not pictured – Cheese & Crackers

Sweet Treats

Instead of using chips and dips I opted for sweet, decadent treats. I did have cheese & crackers but I put them out late (I had forgot about the cheese in the fridge).

I also had soda, tea and herbal tea available for my guests. I even picked up an interesting soda called Espresso Coffee Soda to try out. It was certainly different. I didn’t like it right away but after a few sips it grew on me.

Johnson & Johnson was kind enough to send some spa goodies for me and my friends including eye masks, these super cool “cucumber” eye masks, bath salts, towels, toe separators and nail polish. I gave my daughter the nail polish for use with her friends. I didn’t get into the spa stuff with my friends. I set the products out for them to see and before they left I had them take some of them home. I didn’t think my friends would want to do something like that.

I also don’t do my nails. My one vice in life is that I still bite my nails. I haven’t had my nails painted in nearly 20 years. My friend Jennifer also doesn’t do her nails, so I felt like it would have been a waste.

We had the opportunity to talk about the Aveeno products that were sent to me – Aveeno Body Wash, Body Lotion and Ultra Calming Makeup Removing Wipes.

My friends were familiar with the body wash and lotion, but none of them – including myself – have tried the make up removing wipes yet. I have tried similar products, but not made by Aveeno. Since we were all wearing make up we decided to give them a dry (all except one friend who didn’t want to take her make up off).

These wipes worked great! They were gentle on the skin too. Sometimes the facial wipes are harsh and almost burn the skin (at least for me anyway). These wipes were refreshing and easy on the skin. They also did a fantastic job removing make up and leaving my face feeling like I just washed it with my normal cleanser and water.

Spa Goodies

The facial wipes were our favorite product of the three. We discussed how they are great for on-the-go/traveling as well as keeping in your gym bag or even sending to school with our daughters so they can refresh their faces after gym or sports (one friend has two teens like I do who are active in sports). Another friend had mentioned that these would be refreshing to use after a long plane ride to freshen up.

The theme of the get together was back to school time. I asked my friends about ways they relax and find “me time”. We did talk about taking long bubble baths and hot showers (ideal for the Aveeno body wash). We also talked about back to school stress and how stress can negatively affect your skin (which is why you should always apply a moisturizer).

It was nice to sit and chat with friends and discuss tips and tricks for transition back to school and making it less stressful for everyone (my friend Traci doesn’t have children yet, but she appreciated the tips). We discussed getting the kids to bed early, making lunches, getting them to study and do homework and other topics.

Each of my friends got to take home a bag of Aveeno products too, as well as some spa goodies, compliments of Johnson & Johnson.

I think this was a fun way for both my daughter and her friends and me and my friends to end the first official week of school. It was great to bounce ideas back and forth with our friends on skin care, school stress and other helpful tips.

My friends and my daughter’s friend’s all appreciated the fabulous goodies from Johnson & Johnson too. My friend Jennifer and I are even going to set up a spa date one of these days.

I appreciate that Johnson & Johnson sent me and my friends, and my daughter and her friends, such fabulous products. It was also a lot of fun. I know my daughter had a great time playing host (even if I did butt in a few times :-)).

As it so happens I am now using some of the Clean & Clear products. I have a pimple! LOL!
