It’s time to get “scary” with fun decorations and costumes from WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com

Some of our Halloween decorations.

When it comes to decorating for the holidays, I tend to go “all out” when it comes to Christmas and Halloween. Some people might argue that I tend to decorate more for Halloween than I do Christmas. I don’t necessarily agree with that, but I do know that when it comes to decorating for Halloween, I have a blast.

When my kids were little, I tried to keep my Halloween decorations kid-friendly (even though I wanted to be as scary and creepy as possible). The older they got, the scarier my Halloween decorations became. Now that my kids are adults, I can decorate any way I want, much to the dismay of my husband. He thinks it’s weird and keeps joking that he wishes he had a “normal wife.” He doesn’t share my appreciation for things that are scary and gory.

I collect horror memorabilia. Needless to say, there is no Halloween decoration too creepy for me.

Even though we have a nice collection of Halloween decorations, there is always room for more. I love to rotate between decorations so that we’re not displaying the same ones over and over again.

Normally we are decorated for Halloween by mid-September (just about the time stores are putting out their CHRISTMAS decorations, ha ha). Sadly, my cousin took ill with cancer, and passed away. He was my best friend growing up. We lived next door to one another and we share the same birthday (he was three years older than me). I’ve just been too “down” to decorate. This Halloween is going to be unlike any other Halloween in the past, because this year we are not decorated. I have a few things here and there, but 99% of our decorations are still packed away in the basement, including my beloved life size Michael Myers (Halloween) mannequin.

Our Michael Myers mannequin that stands on our balcony and totally freaks out the neighbors.

When it comes to purchasing decorations, I love a good bargain. That is why I love shopping at places like WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com. Not only do they have a great assortment of Halloween costumes for both children and adults, they also have plus sizes, which is great for a plus size lady like myself.

Don’t let the name fool you. Just because they have the word “wholesale” in their name, doesn’t mean that they don’t have popular, trending costumes. They have popular costumes like Descendants, Legend of Zelda, Pokeman, Paw Patrol, Marvel and The Joker, which I have a feeling will be a very popular costume this Halloween season.

My kids are adults now, so I don’t need to shop for Halloween costumes for them. I also have a costume I’ve worn every year for the past few years (a butterfly). I don’t think it’s necessarily to buy a costume that I’m only going to wear for three hours, then have to worry about finding a place to store it for the next 365 days. My butterfly costume consists of lightweight wings (silk scarf like material that fold up into a tiny square) and a headband. I wear them with black pants and a black top, which I always have in my wardrobe to begin with.

What I’m after at WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com is their Halloween decorations. This year I’ve added some really cool ones to our ever growing collection.

Mystic Oil Slick Crystal Ball Prop Accessory – Item #SEW80708 $21.90

It’s hard to tell from my photo, but the “glass” (actually plastic) globe has a crackle appearance to it.

By day, the crystal ball has a crackled mirror-like appearance (as you can see in the above photo). When the evening approaches, flip on the switch on the bottom of the crystal ball and watch it come alive with changing lights (mostly green and blue) which give it a super creepy vibe.

This would be a fun accessory to use in a mock seance. It also looks really cool on the coffee table or on a bookshelf. The every changing lights draw your attention to it.

I like the base of the crystal ball and how it has an antique look to it.

This is a decent size. I don’t have a ruler handy, but I’d have to say it’s about 8″-9″ tall, and maybe 6″ round.

WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com has other crystal balls worth checking out too.

Stranger Things Alphabet Tapestry with Lights Hanging Decoration – Item #R200145 $44.90

I love Stranger Things. I am a HUGE fan of the series. I watched all seasons in the matter of days (binge watched multiple episodes each day). I love the show so much that I have numerous collectibles and figurines from the series.

I have always wanted one of the “lights’ decorations for my home. I think they are really cool. When I saw that WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com had one, I was thrilled.

I was so excited that I was getting one to review. I wish however the size of the tapestry was listed on the website. This is huge. It measures 68″ x 46”. I’m 5’3″ (63″), so this is longer than I am tall.

Sadly, this won’t fit where I wanted to hang it. The only place I can thin of is the hallway, but it’s not an area that is seen that much (unless you are coming/going from our home). I really wanted to see this every day during Halloween season (and perhaps beyond). As of right now, I have been unable to hang this up.

This is a really nice, well made cloth. It comes with the Christmas lights that you have to put in when you hang it up (it doesn’t come assembled). That is easy enough to do. It also requires batteries (not included).

3D Head in Jar Decoration – Item #F53282 $21.90

I have seen heads in jars decorations before. I always thought they were really cool. I think that they would go great with my horror memorabilia collection, as well as for Halloween. Yes, I would actually keep one up year round. Trust me when I say there is a reason why my husband calls me “weird.” LOL!

WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com has a fun Head in Jar prop that is sure to gross out your Halloween visitors (or even yourself).

The jar is made out of plastic. I have no open the jar yet, but I can only assume the head is made out of plastic too.

It’s hard to tell from the photo, but this is a good size jar. I actually thought it was going to be smaller, so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it’s true size.

I do wish the sticker found on the bottom of the jar (as seen in these photos) was easier to remove. I eventually got it all off, but I had to soak the jar for a bit in order to loosen up the sticker.

I am seriously considering leaving this out year round.

18” Wooden Spirit Board – Item #SI79172 $23.90

I love this! I didn’t think I would love it as much as I do. When I saw it on the brand’s website, I thought it was cool. When I saw it in person, I fell in love with it. I am seriously considering leaving this out year round as well. I just need to find a place where I can hang it up.

This spirit board is made out of wood. I love the slight imperfections it has because it gives it an aged look. With something like a Spirit Board, you don’t want it to look perfect. You want it to look old because it gives it a much more creepier vibe.

This Spirit Board does not come with the apparatus that you use to make it like a Ouija board (the thing you lightly rest your finger tips on). This is meant as a decoration/prop, not as an actual board that you use. I suppose you could use it if you have the other piece, but personally, I wouldn’t. I’ve had some crazy experiences with Ouija boards when I was younger. I steer clear of them as an adult.

Bloody Cleaver – ITEM #: 63058F $3.90 and Bloody Axe – Item #63060F $4.90

The Bloody Cleaver and Bloody Axe can be used as accessories with your Halloween costume, or you can use them as decorations/props. I am currently using them as props.

I have an actual cleaver and axe that are autographed in my horror collection. Thankfully they are not bloody looking like these props.

Each one is made out of plastic, even though they appear to be the real thing. Each one also has a decent splattering of “fresh blood” on them to make them look even more scary.

I was going to use one of them in the hand of our Michael Myers mannequin, but in the films he didn’t use these tools. So I’ll just leave the fake knife in his hand, if we decide to bring up our Halloween decorations this year.

50” Fuzzy Spider Decoration – Item #F81922 $7.90

For about the past 10+ years we’ve had a giant spider on our balcony. He looked as if he was climbing up on to our balcony. Sadly, time and the weather took it’s toll on him and we had to get rid of him. His once black fur was light gray from being out in the sun. His fur was also coming off of him. I knew it was time to replace him.

WholeSaleHalloweenCostumes.com had the nearly identical spider to the one we had to get rid of. The only difference is that the one from WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com had red eyes that glowed (if you chose to put a battery in him and turn him on). I don’t think we’ll do that if we decide to put him outside. No one would be able to see his eyes from how high up we are, and I don’t like the idea of batteries out in the elements. If we opt to keep him inside, I will utilize his eerie red, glowing eyes.

This fun spider has legs that can be bent into a variety of positions, making it easy to find a way to “hang” him.

I love big spider decorations like this. They are fun to work with.

Bloody Hanging Foot – Item #63053F $6.90 and Bloody Hanging Arm – Item #63277F $6.90

For many years we’ve attached a leg to our balcony, so that it looks like just that one body part is hanging off (where is the rest of the body?!). When I saw that WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com had not only a hanging leg, but also a hanging hand, I knew I had to get them to add to our balcony.

Below is a photo of the leg that we have (not from this brand). This is an older photo. Our balcony decor has changed (improved!) over the years.

I have not hung up these props yet. As I explained earlier in this post, due to my cousin’s illness and death, I wasn’t in the mood to drag up our decorations. Thankfully there is still time, so I might just get them up after all. We’ll see… In the mean time, these are super cool props that I hang from my shelving where I keep all my horror memorabilia.

Even though these are made of plastic (including the chain), they do have a realistic look to them, which I love.

Sorry We’re Dead Sign – Item #BB78958 $1.99

This one is a mystery to me. I have no idea where it went! When I first recieved these goodies from WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com, I put everything in the closet for safe keeping. For the life of me, I cannot find it. I’m sure it’s in my closet somewhere. It probably fell behind something.

This is made out of a strong cardboard-like material and comes with a hanger so you can hang it up right away. I was going to hang this from our door when we run out of Halloween candy. I thought that would be funny.

Bloody Unrestroom Sign – Item #BB75038 $1.99

This is a really funny wall/door STICKER. This is not a window cling. This will stick to any smooth, clean, flat surface, like a bathroom door.

I’ve actually used this exact one a few times over the years. I forgot where I initally got them from, but I purchased several of them so I could have one year after year. I used the last one last year, so I was thrilled to find that WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com had them.

I’ve never had any issues with these. They peel off quickly and easily. I have had wall stickers actually take paint off the wall, but honestly, I have not had that happen with THESE stickers. That doesn’t mean that it can’t happen, so I would use caution when removing them. Just take it slow and easy and it should peel off just fine.

Sadly, this is a one time use only sticker. You can try to safe it, but I doubt it would stick as well. But for $2, it’s a fun addition to your home’s eerie decor.

Bloody Removeable Stickers – Item #BB75039 $1.99

Just like with the bathroom wall sticker, I have not put these stickers out yet. These are also a “one time use only” type of product. I am holding off using them to see if we’re going to put out all our Halloween decorations or not. If not, I must just save them until next year.

I have used these before as well. The same time I purchased multiple of the door sign, I also purchased multiple of these to use each year. I also ran out of these last year as well.

If I remember correctly, these stick a bit more than the bathroom sticker. I would definetly take it slow and easy removing these from your wall, just to be on the safe side.

These are fun to add those “finishing touches” to your scary Halloween decor. Add some to the top of doors, your toilet tank, or any where that you want people to think there could be a slaughtered body or monster lurking about.

I love decorating, and WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com has plenty of great decorations at budget friendly prices. I’m looking forward to many great years with these awesome decorations.

Unique Halloween costumes for the whole family

Our daughter when she stopped liking liking to wear “cute” Halloween costumes.

I miss going Halloween costume shopping with our kids. When they were little we were able to sway them into getting the costumes that WE liked and that WE thought were cute. The older then got, the more opinions they had on the costumes they wanted to wear. Instead of cute costumes, they wanted more creepy ones.

Even though our kids are young adults, and have not been trick-or-treating in years, my husband and I still enjoy checking out Halloween costumes when we’re in the stores.

I enjoy dressing up and often will dress up just to greet the trick-or-treaters at our door. I also work in the school district, so I’ll dress up for Halloween to go to work too. The last few years I’ve been a butterfly. Its time to change it up a bit.

Many places that sell Halloween costumes tend to sell the same ones (or different variations of them). I prefer unique costumes. I don’t want to look like everyone else.

Years ago, when our kids were little, we went to Disney World for Halloween. The kids were able to dress in costumers and get candy from around the park. Our daughter wanted to be a princess, our son couldn’t care less what he was (he was two at the time).

We dressed our daughter up as a chocolate chip cookie and our son went as a cow with the words “Got Milk?” on the front of his costume. They were a hit! So many people stopped us to compliment our kids on having different and unique costumes. All the kids at the park were Disney characters or Princesses – our kids were the ones that stood out (in a good way).

Check out these fun and unique costumes for adults and children.

Average Joe’s Dodgeball uniforms

Pinky Pie from My Little Pony (Child’s costume)

PJ Masks (Child’s Costume)

“Ride on” costumes for both children and adults (pictured are adult ones)

Katy Perry’s shark costume. This would also make a hilarious “Baby Shark” costume to go along with the song.

Wayne’s World – talk about a “blast from the past.”

These are just some of the fun costumes found at TVStoreOnline.net. They have Halloween and Cosplay costumes for infants, children, men and women. They even carry plus sizes, which I was personally thrilled about since I am a plus size lady.

TVStoreOnline.net reached out to me. I was looking for a new Halloween costume, so they sent me one to review. It took some time to narrow down my choices (I had several that I really liked). I finally settled on the Women’s Cozy Lady Bat Costume. I chose it because lately, Halloween has been cold here in N.Y. This costume is essentially a hoodie, so I know it would keep me warm. Plus I can easily take it off and put it back on if need be (like if we’re doing a messy project at school).

This really nice hoodie features “wings” sewn in to the underside of the arms, a front zipper, and a fuzzy hood with sewn on “ears.”

The model on the website is wearing it as a dress. That is fine if you have the figure for it. But I would recommend that you wear something underneath it, after all, it’s a hoodie. I would recommend shorts, leggings, pants or at the very least stockings. I had planned on wearing a black shirt and black leggings.

This costume is made exceptionally well. The ears and wings are sewn on beautifully. There is no way they are coming off.

This is a very heavy sweatshirt/hoodie too. If you live in a hot area of the country I wouldn’t recommend this costume ONLY BECAUSE it’s a thick, heavy material. For areas like the Northeast where it does get cold on Halloween night, this costume is sure to keep you cozy and warm.

I checked the measurements and ordered a size 2x (which seemed to be around my measurements). I was so excited to try it on when I received it. To my surprise it was too small/tight on me, even though the tag clearly says 2x. I guess this particular costume runs a bit on the small side.

Sewn on fuzzy/furry ear.

Sewn on wings made from the same material as the hoodie/sweatshirt.

I’m sad. I was really looking forward to wearing this costume this year. But that’s OK. I’m in the process of losing weight, so there is always next year. Honestly, if I was about 10-20 pounds lighter this would fit me just fine. I’d like to think that by this time next year I will have lost that weight.

TVStoreOnline.com has so much more to offer than just Halloween costumes. They carry a fun assortment of products from movies, television, comics, music and more.

Check out just a few of the cool products you can get from TVStoreOnline.net.

Check out what’s new at WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com

Our balcony done up for Halloween a few years ago.

People who know me (including neighbors that I am not necessarily good friends with), know that I LOVE to decorate for the various holidays and seasons. I usually go all out. I even decorate the hallway, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and dining room. I decorate every part of our home.

We have people in our condo complex who’ll approach us in the parking lot, or if they see us in a store, and compliment us on our holiday decorations that we put up outside of our condo. We live on the top floor and have a balcony. Oh if only we had a yard… the things that I could do!

I look forward to all of the holidays (Autumn is my favorite season). Some might argue that Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate for. I personally love Halloween and Christmas equally, but most people tend to agree that we have much more Halloween decorations.

Every year I am on a quest to find something new to use to decorate our home. I’m always on the look out for new places to shop, both in person and online.

A while ago I was pitched by a company called Wholesale Halloween Costumes. They were interested in a review. Since I love to dress up on Halloween for the kids I work with (in an after school program), I thought it would be nice to get a new costume this year (for the past three years I’ve been a butterfly).

Our kids in HOME MADE Halloween costumers. I friend of mine made them for us a long time ago. How cute are they?

Wholesale Halloween Costumes has men’s, women’s, boy’s and girl’s costumes, from popular characters like superheros to really crazy costumes. Best of all the prices are great.

That was always one of my biggest pet peeves when my kids were younger. I hated spending $50+ on a costume they were going to wear ONE TIME (they always outgrew them for the following year). I understood that they wanted to dress up like popular characters, but at $50+, that was a hard pill to swallow.

I usually donated their costumes or let them use them as dress up clothes so at least we got more use out of them.

Wholesale Halloween Costumes has amazing prices – and I’m not just saying that. I am seeing wonderful children’s costumes for $25 or less.

Currently they have a TMNT costume (Leonardo) for only $11.90, which includes the body portion of the costume and a mask.

I don’t know if it’s on sale or not, but regardless, that is a great price!

I even saw a deluxe Batman costume for a child on sale for $9.90. WOW!!!

Don’t think kids get all the fun. I’ve seen ADULT (grown-up) costumes for under $20.

Their plus-size women’s costumes are an average price (compared to similar sites), but regular sized costumes are priced low compared to others.

I originally wanted a new costume for myself, until I saw their Halloween decorations and props. I couldn’t pass up getting some new decorations for my home.

Something I REALLY wanted to have was an animated Michael Meyers prop. Michael Meyers if from the Halloween movie franchise.

I saw an animated prop on another site, but they wanted $250 for it, and honestly, it didn’t really look like Michael Meyers.

The mannequin is wearing the Adult Michael Meyers costumer/jumper from Wholesale Halloween Costumes. The current mask is something I bought elsewhere.

I came up with a great idea. Using an Adult Michael Meyers costume from Wholesale Halloween Costumes, I could create my own prop. The costume (outfit and mask) is only $35.01 on their site.

I was able to find an inexpensive mannequin on Ebay (6′ tall too!). Using the costume from Wholesale Halloween Costumes I created my own Michael Meyers prop for our balcony.

I wasn’t too keen on the mask that came with the costume, so I purchased a different mask. The results are AWESOME!

He looks SO COOL!!!

“Michael Meyers” stands on our balcony. At night we put a small light on him so he can be seen. Our neighbors are FREAKING OUT because they didn’t know if he was a person dressed up as Michael Meyers, or a prop. We can actually hear people outside talking about it. We love that we’ve piqued the interest of our neighbors, including many people we don’t know. I love it!

Another fun Halloween prop that I received from Wholesale Halloween Costumes is the Crawling Undead Zombie Prop. This prop takes batteries (I believe it’s 3 AA, which were not included).

The zombie is sound/motion activated. When it turns on it’s eyes glow red, it groans and it wiggles back and forth, making it appear like it’s crawling. It’s not easy for it to do since it has no back legs (I guess they were chewed off by another zombie – ha ha).

This is loud. If it’s too loud I would recommend taping a piece of cardboard over the speaker holes. That helps to lower it a bit (something I do with a lot of loud decorations/props).

I’m not keen on the glowing eyes (zombie’s eyes don’t light up red), but the groaning sounds are cool and very realistic. I also love how it crawls. It really does look alive.

For some weird reason, two of our three cats LOVE this prop. One of our cats, Padmé, loves to sit in front of it and set it off over and over again. It got to the point where I had to turn him off because she would just sit there and activate him intentionally.

 Padmé and the zombie prop

Bella and the zombie prop

I’m sorry that the video was a bit off. I just wanted people to see it in action.

Our other cat, Bella, LOVES to curl up on his missing legs (it’s just shredded up clothing) and sleep. I’ve even seen Padmé do it a few times. They LOVE this prop, so much so that I am debating on whether or not to leave him out year round. I collect horror memorabilia and creepy things, so it wouldn’t be too odd for me to have him out 365 days a year. We’ll see.

Another cool animated prop I received to review is the Spell Book and Feather Prop. This one is also too loud for my taste, but still super cool nonetheless. There is a silent option where it’s animated but it makes no sound (thankfully).

This spell book opens and closes (manually). When it’s opened you can stand up the included feather and watch it dance around the book when it’s triggered. It’s fun to watch. I really enjoy this prop.

I won’t leave the book open when we are not around. Our cats want to chew on the feather and I don’t want them to ruin it. I can’t replace the feather because there is a magnet on the end that helps it to “dance” around the book.

As I mentioned earlier, I love it when our neighbors enjoy our decorations as much as I do. That is why I also love the Official Bates Motel Sign that I also received to review. It lights up just like a real hotel sign.

Photo from the website. It’s hard to take a photo of it from the outside – we live on the 3rd floor.

It says “No Vacancy” on the bottom of it, but only the “Vacancy” part lights up. The “No” part seems to flicker a little. My son thought it was broken, so I had to explain to him that its suppose to be that way because Norman Bates wanted to lure people into the motel to kill them.

I love this and I wish I could keep it out year round, but I have no wall space to hang it up.

It’s lightweight. I have it hanging from a single suction cup hook on the window.

I appreciate that the light turns off with a dial, rather than search for an on/off button or have to unplug it all the time. With the simple flick of my fingers I can turn it on/off.

It’s hard to make out what it says from a distance (when looking at it from outside) but up close you can clearly read what it says.

Balloon not included. The price is per set (two arms). Mine are black & white (color is random).

The last thing I received to review is the Creepy Grave Breaking Clown Decoration. It’s a set of two clown arms/hands and one balloon stick. My idea was to blow up a red balloon and tuck the hand behind something. Sadly, it didn’t work out where I had intended to use it, so right now they are not put up in our home. I’m still trying to find the best place to use them along with a red balloon (just like the one Pennywise the clown uses in the film It).

Just like their costumers, Wholesale Halloween Costumes also has plenty of great Halloween decor at affordable prices.

If you are interested in checking out all they have to offer visit WholesaleHalloweenCostumes.com. The brand can also be found on social media. All of their links are found on the bottom of their website.

Are you decorated for Halloween yet? Do you have your family’s Halloween costumes?

What do you think about these fun decorations?

Celebrate Halloween with Teleflora’s NEW Trick & Treat Bouquet

halloween night

When you think about Halloween, what comes to mind? Candy? Costumes? Scary Movies? Flowers?

It’s true. Not too many people would think of beautiful floral “boo-quets” for the Halloween season, but that doesn’t mean that they wouldn’t be welcomed by a lucky recipient. A Halloween bouquet would also be lovely for a Halloween party. It would also be a great thing to send to someone who is a “shut in” and doesn’t get out often, or for people like my father and stepmother who don’t want to get fully decorated for Halloween, but would still like to have a few things around their home to celebrate the holiday.

Teleflora’s NEW Halloween bouquet that is perfect for decorating a spooky treat table or as a gift for your Halloween party hostess.

Teleflora’s NEW Trick & Treat Bouquet (Price starts at $54.95; available on Teleflora.com) makes the perfect decoration or gift! This bright and boo-tiful Halloween bouquet includes red spray roses, yellow sunflowers, orange daisy and burgundy spray chrysanthemums, curly willow, orange berries, and yellow oak leaves. The bouquet arrives ready to enjoy in an adorable pumpkin keepsake container…ideal for candy or other fun treats, offering long-lasting enjoyment.

Teleflora was kind enough to send me the bouquet to check out for myself. If you follow me on Instagram (SheScribes) you might have already seen a picture of it.

I have the Trick & Treat Bouquet sitting on our dining room table as a centerpiece. It’s surrounded by autumn leaf garland and autumn themed candles. Our skeleton is also seated at our table, so “pretty” and “creepy” theme going on.

I absolutely LOVE the fall colors in this bouquet. The flowers are beautiful and the colors are ideal for the fall season with the bright reds, oranges and yellows.

Mine looks a wee bit different than the one featured on the Teleflora website, but that is OK. Each one is handmade when ordered, so there are always going to be slight variations. Mine didn’t have the berries or the leaves in the bouquet, and the bats are not hanging the same way (mine are sitting on a clear, plastic pick). But that’s OK. It’s still just as lovely.

Check out just how gorgeous the flowers are in this arrangement.

I LOVE the pumpkin container too. I plan on using it as a decoration on my kitchen counter (and hiding some candy inside for me. LOL!).

Believe it or not, Teleflora has a lot of beautiful Halloween themed arrangements. Here are just a few.

A Step-By-Step Guide to a Frugal DIY Halloween Costume

Autumn is finally here and if you started thinking about your Halloween costume before the first leaf fell, you’re not alone: according to the National Retail Federation, 171 million Americans plan to celebrate All Hallow’s Eve this year, with spending estimated to reach a record-breaking $8.4 billion.

With consumers planning to spend over $3 billion on costumes alone, it’s important to keep costs in mind while you craft the perfect disguise. Luckily, you don’t have to break the bank to win the costume party; some of the trendiest costumes for 2016 can be made at home for very little. Here’s your step-by-step guide to designing your own costume on a dime!

Step 1: Consider Your Budget and Your Time Ultimately, your decision should take into consideration both your budget and your time commitment. If you know where you’ll be wearing it and how long you’ll have to prepare it, you can plan your costume accordingly. Consider factors like makeup and hair styling, as well as your comfort level with costumes that require an artistic hand. If you’re going to be outdoors, also consider the weather.

Step 2: Decide What You Want To Be When considering your costume, look at current pop culture trends for inspiration. 2016 is expected to see a lot of Ghostbusters, Harley Quinns, Pokemon GO trainers, Snapchat filter favorites and presidential candidates (of course). Luckily, most of these trending costumes are easy to imitate; Ghostbuster costumes are as simple as decorating a tan jumpsuit, and you can make your own Snapchat costume with makeup hacks and cheap props like dog ears.

Step 3: Shop the Thrift Store First Once you decide on a costume, you can begin to set a budget and plan where to shop. Start with the simple items you can find at your local thrift store. If you’ll need to cut fabrics or alter your outfit, you don’t want to buy something new! Challenge yourself to find as much as you can from the thrift store first so you can save your money for key costume accessories from the Halloween shop.

Step 4: Check the Dollar Store For costume accessories like hats, temporary tattoos and jewelry, check your local dollar stores. Places like Dollar Tree sell everything from witches’ hats to light-up swords to princess tiaras for just $1. You can also find crafting essentials like pom poms, glitter and fabric paint to make your costume pop without the price tag.

Step 5: Check the Costume Stores You have your shirt and shorts all ready for your Harley Quinn costume, but you still need that two-toned wig to make it recognizable. Specialty shops like Spirit Halloween or Party City are great for those essential items you probably can’t find at the thrift store. Most costume stores offer coupons this time of year, so be sure to check for a discount before you purchase. You can download an app like Coupon Sherpa to easily find these offers, including 20% off one item from Spirit Halloween.

Step 6: Craft Your Costume Once you have all the components of your outfit, put it all together before Halloween in case you need to add anything else to make it memorable! If your costume requires makeup, scour the internet for free tutorials. Youtube and Pinterest are great sources for how-to makeup and hair videos. Also note any places where the costume is uncomfortable and make adjustments now so you’re not limping, fidgeting or otherwise distracted at your event.

Step 7: Enjoy You’re done! Enjoy the party and be sure to #humblebrag to your friends about how cheaply you made your killer costume!
