Lovely Gifts for Life’s Precious Moments

Life is filled with precious moments. Just off the top of my head I can think of several – marriage, the birth of a child, your child’s first birthday, your child’s christening/baptism, first day of school, college graduation, birthdays, anniversaries… the list goes on and on.

Sometimes you want to preserve cherished moments in a way that recalls beautiful memories of that special event or occasion, just by looking at it. Pictures are one way of preserving precious moments. Other ways include a child’s first toy, a graduation cap, a wedding photo and so forth.

Another way of cherishing life’s special moments is with a figurine from Precious Moments. After all, that is what the brand is named for.

Precious Moments have been around for a very long time. My husband used to purchase pieces of the Birthday Train for his nieces. He’d get them a new piece with each birthday. He also purchased pieces for them for other occasions. Over the years he has given them a wonderful collection of Precious Moments pieces.

My family and I even have several Precious Moments pieces. Some were packed away when we were going to move (but didn’t). Unfortunately we had so many boxes that there are still things in our basement storage area that need to be unboxed. The packed away Precious Moments are some of the items that are still “missing” in the basement.

I do have several pieces in our living room. They are ones I received after we almost moved, which is why I know where they are and have them on display.

Some of the Precious Moments figurines I have include an Anniversary piece (for our 20th wedding anniversary), a Tinker Bell (because I love Tinker Belle and all things Disney), an Angel and an adorable little girl holding a flower.

People usually think about the adorable little boys and girls when they think of Precious Moments. While the brand does predominantly feature those adorable children, they do carry other figurines as well.

Mother’s Day is coming up (this Sunday). If you haven’t found the perfect gift for that special lady in your life, you might want to consider a Precious Moment figurine. As a mom, I would be thrilled to receive a heart felt gift from my children of a Precious Moments figurine. Precious Moments even has Mother’s Day gift ideas for grandma (I’m too young to be a grandma just yet).

I was even sent a couple of Mother’s Day themed Precious Moments to check out for myself. I was sent to review the following pair of figurines.

Love You Bunches (girl)

Love You Bunches (boy)

Since I have a son and daughter, these figurines are perfect for me.

I love how they each face a different direction, so they look adorable side by side.

Precious Moments put so much detail in these pieces, which applies to all of their figurines and other fine collectibles. You can see the petals on all the flowers, as well as the polka dots on her dress and the bands on the little boys sweater.

My apologies in the pictures. They didn’t turn out as well as I had hoped. These are much more beautiful in person than they are in my photos (my photos are a bit washed out and fuzzy looking).

I love that the little girl has darker hair than the boy. My daughter has darker hair than my son, and my daughter loves to wear Uggs, which look similar to the boots the little Precious Moments girl is wearing

Precious Moments are collectibles for all ages. You can start a collection for a new baby, or give one to your great-grandmother. They are perfect for anyone at any age.

These are COLLECTIBLES, not toys. They should never be given to a child to play with. They can be easily broken.

My husband even thinks Precious Moments are adorable, which is why he started collections for all his nieces (he has 12 nieces – we’ve bought A LOT of them over they years as you can imagine).

Precious Moments products are available at many retail locations across the country. I’ve even seen them on Amazon (and most available for Prime 2-day shipping too).

If you would like to explore more Precious Moments products, visit their official website at PreciousMoments.com.

Be sure to check out Precious Moments on Facebook and Instagram too.

Do YOU own any Precious Moments products? If so, which one(s)?

Wish mom’s around the world (including your own mom) with the first ever Global Mother’s Day Card

Mother’s Day is around the corner. Can you believe that? It seems like just yesterday we were filling out Valentine’s Day cards. Now it’s time to start filling out a card for your mom, grandmother, aunt or favorite woman in your life to wish them a very happy Mother’s Day.

I wish my mom was still alive. She passed away 17 years ago. My mother in law soon followed her seven months later. I would give anything to be able to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day in person.

I’m blessed that I still have a step mother. I’m certainly going to wish her a very Happy Mother’s Day. She resides in Florida with my father (we’re in New York).

I miss when my kids were younger and would make me Mother’s Day cards. Those were the sweetest. I still have most of them too.

Somewhere in the chaos of our home is a single Mother’s Day card that I made for my mom when I was little. I THINK it’s in the basement storage, but I’m not 100% sure. I wish I could find it.

Mother’s Day cards are special. This year, Wishyoo and the charity global organization No More, have partnered to make the first ever Global Mother’s Day Card. That’s right – GLOBAL!

Wishyoo is the patented e-card, where all your friends and family can handwrite a personal dedication from their own phone. You can even add photos, doodles, and voice greetings. You can even purchase gifts for someone and share the costs with those you invite to participate. This is such a great idea!

This very special “card” can be signed by everyone in the world. It doesn’t matter if you live in New York, London, Tokyo or even Antarctica. If you have access to the Internet, you can sign this card. You sign it in your very own handwriting too. You can even do little doodles if you wish.

You can check out the Mother’s Day card here – http://bit.ly/2mymother (the link has been shortened).

I signed the card myself. It was easy to do. I simply put in my name (or you can use an alias) to get access to the area where you sign your message. You DO NOT need to enter in any personal information – not even your email.

Here is the message I wrote and my doodles (you don’t have to doodle).

I have Carpal Tunnel, so it’s not easy for me to move my mouse to write neater. I gave it my best shot. I think it turned out OK.

You can change the color of the “ink” you are signing/drawing with on the bottom left of the screen (where it looks like an artist’s paint tray. You can also undo anything you just did with the turned arrow (bottom left) and upload a photo using the camera image, also found on the bottom left.

This card will travel around the world I the coming months, as different countries celebrate their Mother’s Day in different days of the year.

This is a screen shot of a section of the Wishyoo Mother’s Day card.

With your help this global card will get the World Guinness Record for the largest card ever made, which stands now at 40,400 messages or signatures. Wouldn’t it be fun to say you participated in this fun event?

In addition, Wishyoo has partnered with the charitable organization NoMore, to bring you this very special Mother’s Day card. No More is an organization that looks to help prevent and end domestic violence and abuse.

Please share the link with every mother or father you know and contribute to this cause in a fun and educational way that also helps saving millions of trees every year.

What do you think of this fun idea? Will you be taking the time to sign this very special, record breaking, Mother’s Day card?

Celebrate Mother’s Day with National Geographic & Enter to Win Great Prizes!

Can you believe that Mother’s Day is just a few days away? I wonder what my kids are going to do for me. I hope its pancakes or French toast for breakfast.

I don’t expect any gifts from my kids. Our son just got his first job and hasn’t started yet, so he doesn’t have a dime to his name. Our daughter is a college student and doesn’t make that much either.

Honestly, I don’t need “things” for Mother’s Day. I’m happy with breakfast or a handmade card.

Have you heard of Magic Jigsaw Puzzles? Magic Jigsaw Puzzles is an app available for both iOS and Android devices. It’s a full service game that includes a collection of more than 20,000 virtual jigsaw puzzles. The puzzles are perfectly organized in a user friend interface.

What does Magic Jigsaw Puzzles have to do with Mother’s Day? That is a great question.

Magic Jigsaw Puzzles has partnered with National Geographic in a special Mother’s Day giveaway. The prize includes a branded mug, t-shirt, a gorgeous coffee table book, branded journal and pen set, a digital subscription to Nat Geo Magazine and 50,000 coins than can be used with the Magic Puzzles app.

Entering the sweepstakes is very easy. Simple solve any of their Nat Geo WILD Mother’s Day puzzles and then share it on your Facebook page with your family and friends. Make sure you tag the Magic Jigsaw Puzzles’ community page (@Magic.Puzzles.Community on Facebook) as well.

I loved doing puzzles when I was a child. Back in the day the puzzles were made out of wood (I did have a few cardboard ones). In fact I still have several of my wooden puzzles from my youth. One day I plan on gluing the pieces in place and using them as artwork on the wall. I think that would be fun to do.

I still enjoy doing puzzles, I just don’t have the time like I used to. That is why I like the Magic Jigsaw Puzzle app. I can take puzzles with me to enjoy where ever I go – even during my lunch break at work. You can also enjoy your Magic Jigsaw Puzzles between devices.

Magic Jigsaw Puzzles is also available in 10 languages and can be enjoyed around the globe. If you travel a lot for work (or for fun) you can enjoy puzzles where ever you go. Magic Jigsaw Puzzles has 27 million members with 4 million users who use the app actively throughout the month. The app is also one of the top 100 bestselling apps.

You can even play on your computer.

Unlike other apps, Magic Jigsaw Puzzles is constantly updating their puzzle collection with high definition photos.

There are five difficulty levels which means this app is fun for young and old alike. The difficulty level refers to the number of pieces it takes to solve the puzzle. The fewer the pieces the easier it is to complete. I prefer easier puzzles when I am using the app on my lunch break since I don’t have a lot of time. I find a quick puzzle or two to be very relaxing.

Kids and parents can enjoy the same puzzle. All you need to do is change the difficulty level.

I would much rather have my young child enjoying putting together a puzzle then playing a violent or mindless game. Puzzles can be educational too. They help with cognitive skills, problem solving as well as global (big picture) and analytic (details) aspects of learning.

Puzzles are great for adults too. As you know, it’s important to give your brain a “mental workout” on a regular basis. It keeps your mind healthy. Keeping your brain active is important to keep it functioning well.

I enjoy the available images for the puzzles. I especially love the landscape ones and the puzzles featuring animals. And thanks to Nat Geo there are plenty of gorgeous puzzles.

You can even make puzzles out of your own photos! That is one of my most favorite features. Upload your photos and turn them into puzzles. What a wonderful idea. I could imagine uploading a photo of the grandchildren to create a puzzle for grandma and grandpa to enjoy putting together. With Mother’s Day coming up it would be fun to create a puzzle using mom’s favorite photo of her children or her family.

You can share your completed puzzles with family and friends as well as with the Magic Jigsaw Puzzles’ community. They even have tournaments that you can complete in.

If you are interested in learning more about Magic Jigsaw Puzzles you can check it out here. You can also visit them on social media – Facebook and Twitter.

Don’t forget to enter the sweepstakes for your chance to win fun prizes!

Are you a fan of doing puzzles? Do you think you’ll check out the Magic Jigsaw Puzzles app?

Honor Mom This Mother’s Day with Teleflora’s Handmade Bouquets

My mom and me.

Mother’s Day is this coming weekend. It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating the start of a new year. Now we’re celebrating mom (and those other special ladies in your life), and soon we’ll be celebrating the official start to summer.Time sure does fly.

Sadly, my mom passed away 14 years ago this upcoming December. I wish she was still around so I could thank her for all those times she was there for me. She was there for me through thick and thin, through sickness and good healthy, happiness and sadness, love and loss.

I miss her. I miss her terribly. I wish there was a way I could see her, even for just a moment, to thank her for all that she did for me. Most especially because I was not her biological child (biologically speaking she was my paternal grandmother, but she raised me, so she’s always been “mom” to me).

Don’t let another day go by without telling your mom, or that other special woman in your life, “thank you” for all that she does.

I’d like to think that I am a lot like my mom as far as loving and caring for my family.

Honoring moms everywhere this Mother’s Day, a new advertisement from Teleflora celebrates everything that makes mom so special, and commemorates our connection to her by illuminating all of the inimitable ways that we are “Just Like Her.”

Check out the brief video.

Teleflora’s “Just Like Her” video ad gives us a moment to thank mom for her strength, determination, courage, perseverance, and infinite love that inspires us every day through life’s best and most challenging moments.

Leading up to Mother’s Day (May 14, 2017), Teleflora would like to encourage moms, sons and daughters everywhere to share their personal reflections about their mom at #ImJustLikeHer. Share your thoughts on social media and use that hashtag, and if possible, tag Teleflora. They would love to read your personal reflections. You can also include the hashtag #Teleflora too.

Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to give that special lady in your life a beautiful gift. Flowers are always a wonderful option. Who doesn’t love a beautiful bouquet of gorgeous, colorful flowers?

Teleflora has two new options this Mother’s Day (along with many other beautiful Mother’s Day arrangements).

Teleflora’s Sparkle and Shine Bouquet (Available on Teleflora.com for $59.95)

Chic and modern, just like mom. This show-stopping bouquet is a perfect reflection of her effervescent beauty; inside and out. Gorgeous pink roses, fragrant white Asiatic lilies and lavender look oh-so-lovely in this one-of-a-kind purple metallic glazed vase with sparkling rhinestones that is sure to dazzle her.

Teleflora’s Dancing Violets Bouquet (Available on Teleflora.com for $39.95)

Just like mom, handmade bouquets light up a room… so make her heart dance with this fun and pleasing purple and white bouquet filled with lavender and white daisy spray chrysanthemums, purple carnations, and a medley of other floral accents. This beautiful floral arrangement is displayed within a purple glass cube vase with a pretty pressed violet design.

Here are a few more options. Teleflora has dozens of beautiful arrangements to choose from.

Teleflora was kind enough to send me their Dancing Violets arrangement to review.

I’ve received a lot of flowers over the years. I would have to say that this one was one of the more fragrant ones that I’ve received in a long time. Even before I unpackaged the arrangement I could smell it. The lovely scent lingered around our dining room (where I kept the flowers – on top of our dining room table) for a few days. It was very nice.

This bouquet features lavender roses, purple carnations, lavender and white daisy spray chrysanthemums, bupleurum, spiral eucalyptus, and leatherleaf fern. The flowers go perfectly with the delicate, square purple vase.

I love the vase because it can be repurposed after the flowers are gone. You can reuse it as a vase, or use it as a container. I was thinking of using this to house my make up. It’s much prettier than the rectangle plastic box my make up is currently sitting in.

The vase is a clear glass with purple violets on it. The white part (background) is a white, plastic insert that the flowers are sitting in. I suppose you could wash that out and reuse that too, but I don’t plan to use that part.

Teleflora has so many more beautiful arrangements for life’s moments (get well, sympathy, birthday, anniversaries…) as well as holidays (Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, Christmas…). You can even include little extras with many of the arrangements including premium vases, Mylar balloon, chocolates and/or an adorable plush teddy bear.

If you would like to see what Teleflora has to offer for Mother’s Day (or any other holiday/life event) visit Teleflora.com. You can also find the brand on social media. All of their links are found on the bottom of their website.

Don’t forget to share your loving thoughts about your mom on social media and tag Teleflora and/our use the hashtags #Teleflora and #ImJustLikeHer.

Are you planning on sending flowers to that special lady in your life?

Have you ever purchased floral arrangements or bouquets from Teleflora?

Feel free to share your thoughts, or simply give a “shout out” to your mom in the comments section of this post. I always love to hear from readers.

This Mother’s Day give the gift of “Precious Moments”

Can you believe that Mother’s Day is right around the corner? It seems like just yesterday the kids I work with were making Valentine’s Day cards. Time flies too quickly. Before you know it we’ll “blink” and it will be the Fourth of July!

Are you looking for the perfect gift for your mother, grandmother or other special woman in your life? Sure, flowers and a box of chocolates are always nice and appreciated, but flowers die and chocolate disappears (especially in my home). All that that special lady in your life will have left is dried petals or an empty box.

What about gifting your special lady something “precious” that she can enjoy not only year round, but also for many years to come. I’m talking about Precious Moments.

I’m sure many people are familiar with the adorable Precious Moment figurines and other collectibles. In fact, many readers probably own a few. I have about a dozen of them myself. The first one I received was on my wedding day. I have added more to my collection over the past 20 years.

Years ago when our nieces were little, my husband purchased them the Precious Moments Birthday Train. Each year he’d buy a new piece to add to their train. It turned out to be a tradition. They knew their favorite Uncle would gift them a new piece each birthday.

Precious Moments has figurines and other lovely collectibles that represent those special moment in our lives from the birth of a baby, birthdays, graduation, marriage, anniversary and even “just because.”

Did you know that Precious Moments has a collectors club? The Precious Moments Collectors Club offers club members FREE shipping, triple rewards point on purchases, FREE figurine and doll personalization, “Members Only” figurines and so much more!

Each year the Collector’s Club gives it’s members a figurine as part of their yearly theme. This year the theme is “Growing the Friendships that Shape Our Lives.” The figurine that comes FREE with membership is called “Life is Always Greener with You by My Side.” The figurine features a sweet little girl seated next to a hedge with an adorable little bunny sitting inside of it. Mine is pictured above.

There are other pieces in the collection too. I like the one with the frog shaped hedge.

As a Precious Moments Club member you’ll also receive a quarterly Precious Moments magazine simply called Moments. It’s really cute. I love looking at the pictures.

In addition to all goodies I’ve already mentioned, with your paid membership to the Precious Moments Collectors Club you also receive a really sweet Members Only bangle bracelet and a nice Precious Moments Plaque.

I really like the bracelet, but it’s too small for my wrist. I gave it to my daughter.

The bracelet/bangle has the word “Club” engraved on a dangling heart and “We love because he loved us first” (John 4:17) engraved around it.

So to break it down for you again, the Precious Moments Collectors Club gives members;

FREE Symbol of Membership Figurine – Life Is Always Greener With You By My Side –$59.99
FREE Shipping On All Items Purchased at Preciousmoments.com for one full year! – an estimated retail value of $22.96
FREE 4 Quarterly MOMENTS magazines – $24.99
FREE Figurine & Doll Personalization for one full year! – an estimated retail value of $31.96
FREE Members Bangle Bracelet and Precious Moments Plaque – $23.00
TRIPLE Reward Points On ALL Purchases
EXCLUSIVE ability to purchase Members Only Figurines for one full year!

The total retail value of the club is $162.90, but it costs only $59.99 to join (one year membership).

That means you save AT LEAST $102.91 (you save more if you consider free shipping and free personalization).

With Mother’s Day fast approaching, gifting a membership to the Precious Moments Collectors Club would make a wonderful gift. It would be a great gift for someone who is already a fan and collector of Precious Moments, as well as for someone new to the Precious Moments world.

Flowers die and candy gets gobbled up but the gift of Precious Moments can last a lifetime, and the figurines and other collectibles can be passed down from generation to generation too (I happen to have one that belonged to my late mother in law).

For more information about Precious Moments, the Collector’s Club, or to browse the currently available Precious Moments figurines and collectibles, visit PreciousMoments.com. You can also check them out on social media. Their links are found at the bottom of their website.

Book a megabus.com ride for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is this weekend. Have you found the perfect gift for that special lady in your life?

I don’t know what my teens have planned for Mother’s Day. I’ve left them a few hints of what I’d like for Mother’s Day. They are not actually gifts – more so things I’d like.

  • A clean home
  • A clean car
  • Sleep in
  • Dinner out (or delivered)

These things don’t necessarily cost money (except dinner). They also might not sound overly exciting, but trust me, it’s what I really want. I am not a fan of cleaning (but I LOVE a clean home). My car is getting a big grungy looking and I have been craving pineapple pizza for weeks.

I know it sounds like a cliché thing to say, but I LOVE handmade gifts from the heart. Those are my favorites.

Over the years some of my most favorite Mother’s Day gifts included a plate that had a photo my daughter drew printed on it. Also, stationary (cards) that featured my son’s artwork (they were professionally printed). I still have them (although they are currently in storage).

My mom passed away 13 years ago. I can’t help but think about her on Mother’s Day too.

I used to always give my mom handmade gifts. She wouldn’t have it any other way. If we bought her anything she would quibble about it.

One thing I think would have make for a great Mother’s Day gift is to go on a mini-trip to some place special. Or if you don’t live near your mom, what about surprising her with an unexpected visit?

Have you ever heard about megabus.com? They are a bus company that travels across the country as well as Canada.

Megabus.com great for weekend getaways, traveling to sporting events, and visiting family out of town – like mom! In fact, megabus.com recently did a survey and the results found that a majority of megabus.com customers miss their moms (64%). Many of those surveyed said that they would cry tears of joy if they were surprised with a trip (53%) or an surprised visit (46%). In addition, the survey also found that more people are planning to go home for Mother’s Day, over a spa or the beach.

Our daughter is in college. She plans on transferring next spring. I can’t imagine what life would be like without her around. I really hope that she is able to come home often, especially on the holidays and Mother’s Day.

What makes megabus.com the perfect choice for surprising mom with an unexpected visit or trip, is that megabus.com offers customers great rates. Fares start at only $1 (plus a reservation fee). Plus they offer FREE WIFI to every passenger, a restroom, comfortable reclining seats and modern buses.

This year marks megabus.com’s 10th Anniversary. To celebrate this milestone, megabus.com has partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 10,000 trees along megabus.com routes and on college campuses throughout the country over the next year. I think that is a wonderful thing that they are doing.

If you are interested in learning more about megabus.com, or interested in surprising mom with a special trip (or plan a trip to visit mom) go to megabus.com. You can also check them out on social media – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

What are your plan for Mother’s Day? Will you be visiting your mom to celebrate with her in person?

Have you ever planned a trip as a Mother’s Day gift? If you could, where do you think you and your mom would go?

If you have every used megabus.com, feel free to share your experiences.
