Speed up your beauty routine with NEUTROGENA® Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes (giveaway ends 12/27/15)

Makeup Collage

Making lists (and checking it twice!), holiday parties, marathon baking sessions, shopping from sun-up to sun-down… it’s a busy time of year.

Right now our days are filled with enjoying the holidays. Sometimes our daily routines take a “backseat” to everything else.

When it comes to your beauty routine, shaving off a few minutes here and there gives you a bit more time to spend with family and friends.

One way you can save time is by using NEUTROGENA Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They don’t replace thoroughly washing and moisturizing your face like you would do in the AM and PM, but they can help you freshen up when you don’t have time to cleanse your face. The wipe are great for “on-to-go” too. They effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and makeup—even waterproof mascara—for clean, fresh skin with no need to rinse.

Personally I need to wash makeup off my face the first chance I get. When I attend holiday parties I tend to do up my makeup more than I would normally. For parties I’ll wear lipstick, shimmering eye shadow, extra thick lashes and blush. I can actually feel the makeup on my face and count the hours until I can wash it all off. I could go with a more “fresh” look, but I do enjoy getting all made up and it’s not like I do it all the time.

Sometimes thoroughly cleansing your face can’t take place right away. That is when the wipes come in handy. You could wash off your make up and freshen your face quickly and easy with no need to rinse your face.

The wipes would be great to have on hand if you party a bit too much and end up spending the night at a friend or family members house where your normal face cleansing products are not available to you.

If you’re anything like me, the holidays can totally wipe you out! From the never-ending Holiday parties to chaotic holiday shopping, at the end of a long day of preparation and celebration, the last thing you want to worry about is removing your makeup.

The wipes remove up to 99.3% of stubborn makeup – in one easy step!

My teenage daughter uses the wipes all the time, especially on days she had gym class. She would use the wipe to remove sweat and smudgy makeup on her face, give her face a little “touch up” and head out to her next class. NEUTROGENA Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes are a must for your gym bag and/or gym locker.

The wipes are very portable and you can easily tuck them inside your purse or suitcase if you happen to be traveling this holiday season.

You could even use them as stocking stuffers.

Transition into your fall beauty routine with great deals on your favorite products

Brrr… do you sense a bit of nip in the air? Well… at least those of us who live on the East Coast do (people out West and down South still have hot weather).

I love this time of the year. I’m more of a sweater and sweatpants person than shorts and tank tops. I rather cuddle under a fuzzy blanket on a chilly evening than crank up the AC at full blast so as not to sweat to death.

With the changing of the seasons you really should change up your beauty routine. Living in the Northeast I have to think about the warm, dry air from having the heat on and windows closed that quickly dries out my skin. I get dry all over – from my face to my toes. For that reason I have to make certain to use a good moisturizer on my face and body.

Since I won’t be outside getting much sun I also need something that can help brighten my complexion so I don’t look worn out and dull.

To help you transition into your fall beauty routine, some popular brands are going to be offering special discounts on certain weeks through October 31, 2015. Look for special displays in the beauty section where you’ll find more than 20 new and timeless fan favorites from NEUTROGENA®, AVEENO® and RoC® available at your local Target – all in one place along with special discounts during certain weeks!

  • Neutrogena Pink Grapefruit Scrub
  • Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser
  • Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil
  • Neutrogena 25ct Makeup Remover Towelettes

I recently went to our local Target to take advantage of some of the discounts as well as to pick up some new beauty products to help me transition into the fall weather.

I’ve really been wanting to try out some RoC products. I heard good things about the brand. I was especially interested in the RoC Multi- Correxion 5-in-1 Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30. That was one of the products that I picked up. I haven’t really had a chance to try it yet (I just picked it up), but I an anxious to see how well it works.

I LOVE Aveeno products. I have been using them for years. I first started using them when I was pregnant with my now 18 1/2 year old daughter. I had REALLY dry skin during pregnancy and my doctor recommended Aveeno’s oatmeal bath. It worked wonders and helped my skin not to itch as much.

My favorite Aveeno products are the Positively Radiant Skin Brightening Daily Scrub and Daily Moisturizer. I had to get those two products.

My daughter requested some make up remover cleansing toweletts. She keeps them in her bag. She likes to use them when she freshens up her make up in between work, school and/or her social life. I like to use them too sometimes, especially when I get home from work. I like to wash my make up off right away, but sometimes I don’t have time when I get home from work because I need to get dinner started. I like using the wipes because I can get the make up off my face and it will hold me over until after dinner when I can fully wash and moisturize my face.

I picked her up some Neutrogena Make Up Remover Cleansing Wipes while at Target. I find that they work very well, even on stubborn mascara.

Cleansing Oil

Speaking of Neutrogena, if you haven’t had a chance to try their NEW Ultra Light Cleansing Oil yet, you should give it a try. Initially I was reluctant to try it because when I think “oil” I think “grease” and I didn’t want to leave my skin greasy which could cause breakouts. This oil actually rinses off great, leaving behind no greasy residue. It does a great job removing make up and leaves your skin feeling soft and hydrated, unlike some other cleansers that can leave your skin feeling dry or sticky.

If you are having trouble finding the products you want in the store, just ask the Target Beauty Concierge team for help. They provide expert opinions and one-on-one advice.  You can find a team near you by entering your zip code here.

Choose Skin Health this Summer

*I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Neutrogena. I received samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

When I was a young girl I would spend every waking moment outside. I lived in the country. If I wasn’t off on adventures with my cousins (I spent every summer with my cousins), I would find something to do on my own.

I’m not exaggerating when I say I would be outside from sun up to sun down.

Back in the day my family didn’t use products to protect our skin from the sun. In fact I would use baby oil on my skin and lie out in the sun for hours on end when I was a teen just to get a tan. I never tanned – I always burned. In fact I had sun poisoning numerous times as a child through my teen years, as well as two cases of heat stroke. To this day my cousin’s talk about the times I had horrible sun poisoning. My face swelled up and was oozing. It was a horrific site.

Many years ago, when my daughter was a toddler and my son was an infant I went to the dermatologist to check out my skin. He found six “suspicious” moles on my back that he insisted on removing immediately. It was NOT a pleasant experience. It hurt A LOT when the medication he used to numb my skin wore off. I never want to go through that again!

That is when it hit me – the sun can be potentially VERY dangerous to your skin health – and even your overall health. Thinking back on all those years of not wearing an ounce of sunscreen, and all those times I had sun poisoning, made me scared for not only my health but also the health of my family. From that moment on I insisted that my kids wear sunscreen every time they would go out in the sun.

Mother and daughter putting sun protection on their face

My husband also never wore sunscreen growing up. He’s 100% Italian and has beautiful olive skin. In the summer his skin would turn a beautiful golden brown. He THOUGHT he was “immune” against sunburn until one day at the beach he got a really bad one on his back and shoulders. From that point on he always made sure to wear sunscreen when going out in the sun.

Did you know that only 20% of people use an SPF daily – as in EVERY DAY (you can get burned even in the winter months). Did you also know that one in five Americans will develop skin cancer during their life time? You would think knowing that scary statistic that people would be more likely to take their skin health seriously and apply sunscreen daily, but they don’t.

With this being summer time, people are spending more time outdoors trying to soak up the sun and fresh air before the cool weather rolls around again and we are all stuck indoors again.

Did you know that sunburns in children increase their odds of developing skin cancer later in life? Knowing this will you let your child play outside WITHOUT applying sunscreen?

People with sensitive skin and Eczema also need to take extra care in protecting their skin from the sun’s harmful rays. I suffer from both. My face is sensitive to certain products and I suffer from Eczema on my face, neck, scalp and occasionally patches on my abdomen, arms and hands.

Neutrogena offers consumers several SPF products to help protect the skin health of you and your family. They also offer products that provide adults and babies with sensitive skin and Eczema a safe sunscreen option that protects using naturally sourced sunscreen ingredients. In fact, the National Eczema Association has recently awarded its Seal of Acceptance to five Neutrogena Sun products. The five products include:

  • NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free® Baby Faces Ultra Gentle Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45+
  • NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free® Baby Sunscreen Stick Broad Spectrum SPF 60
  • NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free® Baby Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+
  • NEUTORGENA® Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+
  • NEUTROGENA® Pure & Free™ Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50

Neutrogena sent me a few of their products to review –  Pure & Free™ Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50, Pure & Free® Baby Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ and Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+.

Neutrogena Sensitive Skin

I’ve already used the Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ several times, including the other day at our daughter’s high school graduation which was held outdoors. We had to get there at the very least two hours earlier to ensure we had a place to park and sit. With 649 graduates and their families it was beyond crowed. We arrived two hours earlier to avoid most of the crowd, but that meant sitting outside for two hours, plus over an hour for the actual graduation ceremony.

Being fair skinned I was afraid I would burn but thanks to Neutrogena’s Sensitive Skin Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ I did not have one spot of sunburn. I am very grateful for that. It was my #1 concern the whole time we were there.

I used the Pure & Free™ Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 on my face. Actually I’ve used this several times since I received it to review.

Pure and Free Liquid

Sunscreens made for your face often bother my skin or leave me feeling greasy and sticky (which I don’t like). Sometimes they even make me break out. It goes on white but quickly absorbs and the color fades away.

Pure & Free™ Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 is a lightweight liquid that you apply to your face before your moisturizer and make up. You can even wear it alone with no make up (ideal when you are going for a swim).

I didn’t even realize I was wearing it. Once it absorbed into my skin and I went on with my normal beauty routine I didn’t even know that I was wearing sunscreen. It also didn’t bother my skin and so far I have not had any breakout issues.

I like this lightweight sunscreen for my skin compared to others I have tried. It’s by far my favorite and I fully intend on purchasing it when my current bottle runs out.

We also received the Pure & Free® Baby Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 60+ but we haven’t really used it yet. My kids are teens (not babies) but it would still work on adult skin.

Pure and Free Baby

This product is in a stick form. It’s small enough to fit inside your purse or backpack for unexpected outdoor time or if you need to re-apply your sunscreen. I plan on keeping this tube along with my travel products so I can take it with me the next time I travel so I know I always have sunscreen with me.

I did try applying it to my skin. It also absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave any residue on your skin or leave it feeling sticky or greasy.

New products from Neutrogena

Dry Skin

This year looks like it’s going to be a big year for Neutrogena. They have a lot of brand new products rolling out in 2015.

Here is the list of new products;

  • CoolDry Sport Sunscreen Lotion & Spray SPF 30 and SPF 70
  • Hydro Boost Water Gel, Gel-Cream for Extra Dry Skin and Eye Cream
  • Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes
  • Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer
  • Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer Pink Grapefruit
  • Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Cleanser
  • Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel
  • Rapid Dark Circle Repair Eye Cream
  • Healthy Skin Boosters Facial Cleanser
  • Healthy Skin Boosters Daily Scrub

I know my kids will be interested in the Rapid Clear products, especially my teen daughter. She’s graduating from high school and starting college in the fall. The last thing she wants is to start college with acne.

I am a big fan of Neutrogena’s Pink Grapefruit products. I use their facial products often. I LOVE the smell! They truly do smell like Pink Grapefruit.

Neutrogena sent me two of their new products to try out.

Hydro Boost® Water Gel®

Suggested Retail Price: $17.99 for 1.7 oz. (48g)

Hydro Boost® Water Gel instantly quenches dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day. The unique water gel formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream. It boosts skin’s hydration level and locks it in all day.

NEUTROGENA® HYDRO BOOST® Gel- Cream for Extra Dry Skin

NEUTROGENA® HYDRO BOOST® Gel- Cream for Extra Dry Skin

Suggested Retail Price: $17.99 for 0.5 oz. (14mL)

Hydro Boost® Gel-Cream for Extra-Dry Skin instantly quenches extra dry skin and keeps it looking smooth, supple and hydrated day after day. The unique gel-cream formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a cream, for even extra dry skin. It boosts skin’s hydration level and locks it in all day.

I have tried both products. They feel really nice when applied to the skin. It’s almost as if they have a “cooling effect.” I guess that has to do with them being a gel consistency and not a cream or lotion.

I find both products to be very soothing too. Sometimes when I wash my face it burns a bit (I guess I scrub too hard) or it feels “tight” and dry. The moment I apply the gel to my skin it instantly feels soothed and cool. It’s rather refreshing.

I’ve mostly been using the Hydro Boost® Water Gel® because currently my skin is not overly dry (thankfully). I figured I would save the other gel for those times when my skin is extra dry. With the horrible wind chills we’ve been having and sub-zero temperatures I have a feeling my skin will be getting very dry soon between the effects of the cold wind and the dry heat in our home.

I’m pleased with both products and would certainly purchase them again. I like how they feel and I like how my skin feels after I applied them.

As I learn about the other new Neutrogena products that will be rolling out throughout the year I will share information with readers about them.

For more information about Neutrogena visit Neutrogena.com. The brand can also be found on Facebook.

Neutrogena products are available at many retailers both online and offline.

Must have beauty products you’ll want to try

One of the great things about being a blogger is having the opportunity to learn about, and try out, products you might not otherwise get to know about.

I love trying out bath & body and beauty products. I guess that is the “girly-girl” side of me coming out. I’m always on the look out for products that will make me look better and help me to take better care of my hair, face and skin.

I was sent some products to review several weeks ago which are worth sharing with readers. If you have the opportunity to try them out for yourself I would recommend them.

NORWEGIAN Formula Hand Cream

NORWEGIAN Formula Hand CreamClinically proven, highly concentrated formula rapidly heals dry hands.

If there is one thing I can’t stand is dry hands. It drives me crazy. Especially in the winter months. My hand gets so dry they actually crack and bleed! For that reason I am always applying moisturizer to my hands.

I think I might have tried almost every lotion on the market. Some are great and some are a total waste of money.

I like the NORWEGIAN Formula Hand Cream from Neutrogena. It’s very thick, but it applies easily. It also seems to absorb fairly quickly. Once applied it leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth. With daily use I have noticed that my hands are not as dry as they typically are this time of year. Usually my skin is so dry that I stick to everything (like Velcro!). I have not had to deal with that for the past few weeks. I am confident that this hand cream is to thank for that.

Makeup Remover Cleansing TowelettesUltra soft cloths that gently dissolve all traces of make-up, even waterproof mascara, for clean, fresh skin in one easy step.

My daughter and I both enjoy these make up wipes. They make removing make up, most especially mascara, super easy. They are great for “on the go” too when you don’t have time to wash your face like you normally would with a cleanser and water.

My daughter keeps a pack in her school bag. She uses them to refresh her face after gym class and to clean her face if she hangs out at a friend’s house after school.

I love using them because sometimes I don’t have the time to wash off my make up right away when I get home from work because I have to start dinner right away. With these wipes I can remove my makeup in a matter of a minute until I have time to use my regular cleanser and moisturizing products.

They leave your fresh feeling clean, not dry or sticky like some wipes do.

Hair Care

Triple Repair Hair CareFormulated with proteins, rich conditioners and peptides, Triple Repair Fortifying Shampoo, Conditioner, and Leave-in Treatment are clinically proven to make hair up to 3 times stronger after just 1 use!

I have long, thick, course hair. My daughter has long and super thick hair. When it comes to hair care we take it very seriously.

We’ve been using Neutrogena’s Triple Repair Hair Care products for a while now. I like the way they wash and rinse out well without leaving behind any residue or anything that would weigh your hair down.

I especially like the leave in treatment. I don’t use it for my entire head. I use a small dollop in my hand, rub my hands together and rub it on the ends of my hair. I like how it makes my hair look smoother. It also helps with fly away hair and static. I find that my hair gets a lot of static in it during the winter months.

I don’t cut my hair as often as I should. I get my hair cut usually 2-3 times per year. For that reason I have a lot of split ends. I think if I had regular trims, these products would really make my hair look awesome. Sometimes even the best products on the market have a hard time repairing split ends 100%. None the less I still like how these products make my hair look and feel.

Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Products

Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Line – An anti-aging line that gently delivers the most advanced form of retinol, fast – clinically proven to deliver results in just one week!

I honestly cannot comment on these products. I did give them a try not too long ago and noticed that my eye would get watery and not feel right. By process of elimination it was determined that I may have had an allergic reaction to one of the Rapid Wrinkle Repair® products. I have not determined which one but I suspect it was the eye serum since it was closest to my eye.

If you have tried any of these products I would love to hear about your experiences with them.

Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 20

Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 20Silky, lightweight formula blends seamlessly with skin, evens tone and hides imperfections to instantly transform skin’s look and feel.

I am not one to use liquid make up. I prefer powdered make up only because I don’t like the way liquid make up makes my skin feel (weighed down). I also worry about it clogging my pores.

I was sent this product to review, and I honestly was going to give it a try, but the color did not match my skin. I have very light, pale skin and the color I received to review was not an ideal match. None the less I was willing to give it a try because I like the idea of the SPF 20 in the make up. The powered make up I use does not have an SPF in it. Therefore I have to apply a separate sunscreen which is just an extra step when getting ready. I like the idea of having the sun protection already built in to my make up.

These are just a few of the wonderful products offered by Neutrogena.

For more information visit Neutrogena.com. You can also find the brand on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest). All links are found on the brand’s website.

Have you tried any of these products? Are there any products mentioned here that you’d like to try? Feel free to share your thoughts.

Melanoma Monday (May 5, 2014) – Choose Skin Health

PHOTO CREDIT: American Academy of Dermatology

PHOTO CREDIT: American Academy of Dermatology

Did you know that today, May 5, 2014 is Melanoma Monday? Melanoma is a form of skin cancer.

When I was younger I never gave sunscreen a thought. I don’t think anyone my age did. I would go out in the sun from dawn to dusk with not a drop of sunscreen on my face or body. As a result I’ve had sun poisoning more than once. One time it was so severe that my face swelled up and I was unrecognizable. It even started to “ooze” fluid. It was pretty gross. I was so embarrassed to be seen in public, not to mention it was very painful and uncomfortable.

Fast forward my my adult years – specially about 15 years ago. I was at the Dermatologist for my Eczema and he wanted to look at my freckles and moles. He found six “suspicious” ones on my back that had to be removed. Thankfully they were not cancerous but it was a painful experience and very stressful waiting for the results.

I make sure to wear sunscreen all the time. The same applies for the rest of my family even though my daughter wants to be able to sit out and sunbathe so that she can get tanned. I rather her be pale and healthy then tanned with Melanoma.

The American Academy of Dermatology has designated the first Monday in May as Melanoma Monday. Their hope is to raise awareness of this type of cancer and encourage people to do self exams, see a dermatologist when they suspect something might be wrong and of course wear sunscreen all the time.

Did you know…

  • On average, one American dies from melanoma every hour. In 2014, it is estimated that 9,710 deaths will be attributed to melanoma.
  • Melanoma is the most common cancer for young adults 25 to 29 years old and the second most common form of cancer for adolescents and young adults 15-29 years old.
  • When caught early, skin cancer – including melanoma – is highly treatable. The five-year survival rate for people whose melanoma is detected and treated before it spreads to the lymph nodes is 98 percent.

The fact is, skin cancer does not discriminate, but it’s preventable, so we want to get the word out as much as possible!

It would be great if you could help educate your friends and family, as well as those who follow you on your social media outlets (Facebook and Twitter) by sharing this video. It provides you with more facts and valuable information about this preventable disease.

Neutrogena is passionate about this cause and have created a special campaign that I hope my readers will consider participating in.

The campaign is called the Neutrogena® Choose Skin Health campaign. The campaign kicks off today (May 5th) and runs through the end of July. As part of the campaign, Neutrogena is encouraging consumers to purchase products with SPF in it.

For every Neutrogena product with SPF that is purchased from May through July, Neugrogena will make a donation to a family in need, up to $10 million dollars.

Sunscreen is important to help protect and prevent against skin cancer for both adults and children. Sadly, some families can’t afford something like sunscreen. That is why Neutrogena came up with this campaign – to help provide families in need with sunscreen to help protect them this summer.

Check out this brief video featuring adorable children to learn more about the campaign.

I hope you will consider participating in Neutrogena’s Choose Skin Health campaign. Please spread the word to family, friends, co-workers and people on your social networking sites. And don’t forget to #ChooseSkinHealth. I don’t want any of my readers to become another melanoma statistic.
