Available TODAY in theaters across the country, as well as On Demand, is the sequel to the hit animated family film, The Addams Family, appropriately entitled The Addams Family 2.
The Addams Family 2 features the voice talents of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nick Krull, Jovon Walton, Bette Midler, Snoopy Dog, Wallace Shawn and Bill Hader.
The Addams Family 2 brings back all the characters from the original film, Gomez, Morticia, Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Cousin It, Grandma, Lurch and Thing (the hand).
Gomez and Morticia (most especially Gomez) becomes worried that something has broken the bond between them and their children, Wednesday and Pugsley. The children don’t want to be with them as much as they used to. The kids don’t even want to have family dinner together anymore. Gomez is more especially worried about Wednesday.
To bring the family back together, Gomez decides to take the family on a road trip across the country, stopping by favorite haunts like Death Valley and Salem (site of the infamous witch burnings). As you can imagine, the kids are less than thrilled about the trip, especially Wednesday.
Wednesday feels disconnected from her family. She doesn’t truly feel like she is one of them (I’m sure most teenagers feel that way at some point).
To make matters worse, Gomez and Morticia are aware that a lawyer and his thug are after them because a scientist by the name of Cyrus believes that Wednesday is his child, due to a mishap at the hospital where she wa born (Uncle Fester doesn’t help matters any seeing as how HE might be the cause of it).
Poor Pugsley is dealing with some issues too. He wants for a girl to like him, but being weird, it makes it harder for him.
Join the Addams family on a wild, crazy and kooky adventure across country. It’s the Addams family after all, what could possibly go wrong? Ha Ha.

It’s not often that sequels live up to their predecessor, let alone surpass it. In my opinion, The Addams Family 2 was BETTER than the original animated film. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.
This film is really funny. What I love about this film is that it’s funny for children, but there are also puns and other humorous things said and done that only grown-ups would understand and appreciate. Take for example there is one part of the film where Gomez gives the “lawyer” a severed finger that Uncle Fester gave him. He gives it to the lawyer as a tip. When they walk away, the lawyer can be heard saying under his breath “I can’t believe he gave me the finger.”
There is another part of the film where the idea of a “pun” comes up, and if you are an adult watching this film, you’ll be well aware of all the puns that have been said throughout the film.
I watched this film on my computer while my husband watched football on the television. I had my earphones on so I could hear the movie with no distractions. My husband heard me laughing, and now can’t wait to see the film himself. We might go see it in the movie theater later on this month. I honestly don’t mind. I loved this film, so I am happy to watch it again.
The animation in this film is SPECTACULAR! The water at Niagara Falls, the background for the Grand Canyon – it all looks so realistic. It’s amazing what animators can do these days.
This is an ideal family friendly film. As I mentioned, there are elements in this film geared towards adults, and others geared towards children. Young and old alike, there is something for everyone in this film.
I like the message in this film as well. As a parent, we all have those fears that we’re losing touch with our children, and they are pulling away from us. On the flip side, I was a teenager once myself (even if it was back in the Stone Age), and I remember rebelling against my parents. Its a part of growing up.
