When I was a teenager (back in the Stone Age), my skincare routine was an absolute disaster. Nobody taught me how to properly care for my skin. There were more times than I care to remember that I would crawl into bed with a full face of makeup on. Those times I did wash my face I would grab a standard bar of body soap, the kind you wash your body with. Those types of soaps are meant to wash your legs and arms, not the delicate skin on your face.
In hindsight, I truly wish that I had known how to take better care of my skin back then. Perhaps my skin would be better now if I did. This is why, when I became a parent, I made sure that my daughter and son had better products. I also made sure they washed their face before going to bed at night (even my son), as well as put on sunscreen whenever they were going to be outside (much to their dismay – they hated when I insisted on sunscreen all the time).
I’m sort of glad I don’t have to worry about raising tweens and teens today. I think it would be overwhelming.
I work with children, some of whom are tweens (ages 8-12). Some of the kids completely ignore their skin, skipping the basics entirely, and it shows. At this age, some of them are still reluctant to bathe on a regular basis, let alone take proper care of their skin.
On the flip side, you have the “Sephora Kids.” Those are the kids who use aggressive, anti-aging serums, heavy retinols, and other products that are formulated for mature, adult skin. I have a few of those kids in our program, too. When I hear about the products their parents let them buy, I can’t help but be shocked. How can a parent be okay with their 8-year-old using anti-wrinkle products? Do they honestly think that is good for their child’s skin? Those parents are not doing their child any favors by allowing them to use such advanced products. Who knows what it will do to their skin as they get older?
When it comes to tween and teen skin, it goes through changes due to hormonal shifts. Skin is delicate to begin with. Changes in hormones cause imbalances in your skin. Tweens and teens don’t need a 10-step anti-wrinkle regime. They need products tailored exactly to their age and their unique skin barrier.

Can you find products that are age appropriate for tweens and teens? Yes, you can.
Let me introduce you to Yes Day. It gives tweens and teens the trendy skin care routine they crave (thanks to Tik Tok), while providing parents with peace of mind.
What makes Yes Day so unique is WHO created it. Yes Day was envisioned by Coco Granderson, a savvy 13-year-old entrepreneur who noticed her friends were using products that were not made for teenage skin. To help bring her vision to life she teamed up with Ron Robinson, a legendary cosmetic chemist who help formulate products from high end brands such as BeautyStat. Together they designed a clinical grade, affordable skin care line specifically for tweens and teens (adults CAN use the products too!).
Yes Day products are great for great for the ever changing skin of a tween and teen and can take them from oily skin days, to dry skin days to those dreaded breakouts.
Instead of stripping young skin with harsh chemicals, Yes Day focuses entirely on soothing, balancing, and protecting. They use a proprietary, barrier-boosting blend they call Yes Magic™, which features nourishing probiotics, antioxidant-rich Kiwano melon, and deeply hydrating polyglutamic acid. Their products are free from retinols, harsh AHAs/BHAs, sulfates, and alcohols.
Yes Day products are clinically, pediatric, and dermatologist tested on ages 10 and up across all skin tones and genders. Even tween and teen boys can use them (they need to wash their faces daily too!).
Instead of an overwhelming, expensive 10-step routine, Yes Day keeps things simple with their core lineup (also bundled as The Sleepover Set).
I was sent these products to review. I’m not a tween or teen, but as previously mentioned, these products are fine for adult skin too.

A gentle, barrier-balancing cleanser rich in energizing Kiwano melon and hydrating coconut water that foams up to melt away excess oil, dirt and other gunk.
I have a love/hate relationship with facial cleansers. I love the feeling of fresh, clean skin. It’s something I look forward to especially after a long day at work (summer heat and humidity only amplify this). However, I find that some facial cleansers leave my face feeling “tight” and/or dry (and not in a good day). I need to put on moisturizer immediately because I don’t like that feeling.
I find this to be a nice, simple, gentle cleanser. It removed my makeup with no problem (I don’t use waterproof makeup – I can’t comment on that type of makeup). My face felt clean and it didn’t feel tight or dry. It left me with that “straight out of the shower” type of clean.
This is a foam cleanser, so it’s light and airy. It rinsed off easily and didn’t leave any residue afterwards.
Clean, simple and effective.

An instantly energizing, antioxidant-rich hydration mist that doubles as a revitalizing refresh—serving up dewy, luminous skin on the fly for an all-time high.
I LOVE this product. It feels so light and refreshing on my skin. This feels especially good on your face when you are hot and sweaty. It almost cools you down (not entirely, but at least your face).
It’s a light mist that sprays on evenly. It’s not like it makes you face look or feel “wet” (unless you spray on too much of course).
I find myself spritzing it on my face a few times per day – after I wash my face, before I put on makeup (I don’t put on my makeup until late morning/early afternoon), after I wash my face after work and before I go to bed. Perhaps I don’t have to do it that much, I just like how it feels.

A soft and fluffy, barrier-balancing gel cream that locks in moisture and levels up your glow-up for bouncy, juicy skin that looks lit from within.
I received the base and the refill cup. You can purchase more refills on the brand’s website.
This is a nice, simply, lightweight moisturizer. As someone who MUST use a moisturizer daily, it’s been my experienced that many moisturizers are “heavy” and take a bit to absorb. This one is very light and absorbed fairly quickly. It doesn’t feel like there is anything on your face.
My experience thus far is that it’s doing a decent job keeping my face moisturized. I do have some dry patches here and there, which is why I must use a moisturizer. This product is doing a good job keeping those dry patches at bay.

An anytime sweet treat for instant recovery—leaving chapped lips deeply hydrated, luxuriously soft and shiny, not sticky.
I totally get the appeal of this product, but, I have been using Chapstick pretty much my entire life, so it’s hard for me to get used to anything on my lips that doesn’t have that waxy feel to it. I’m NOT saying there is anything wrong with this product, it’s just a different consistency and feel to what I have been using for decades.
I have been trying to use this product here and there (mostly in the evening/night after work).
It does make your lips glossy and it goes on easily. You can tell that it’s hydrating. Currently my lips are not dry or chapped, so I can’t truly say much about the moisturizing ability, but I have a feeling it would help with dry and chapped lips.
I also like the packaging of these products. The shape and pink color is really cute and would be appealing to tween and teen girls.
These products CAN be used by tween and teen boys, but I would think the brand would have to offer a different color/shape option to appeal to them. I do think boys – and men – need to take better care of their skin too. I am always trying to encourage my husband and son to do so.
Over all, Yes Day it’s an excellent product line that is clean and safe for tweens and teens. It’s made for THEIR skin unlike products geared towards adults (remember, adults can use these products too).
