Available today (June 4, 2019) on DVD, VOD and Digital HD is the horror film The Cleaning Lady.
The Cleaning Lady stars Alexis Kendra, Rachel Alig, Stelio Savante and Elizabeth Sandy, to name a few.
The film was directed by Jon Knautz (Goddess of Love), and he co-wrote the script with one of the stars of the film, Alexis Kendra (Valentine’s Day).
Alice (Kendra) is a beautiful woman who seems like she has it all. She lives in a beautiful apartment, she has a great career and a very handsome boyfriend. The problem is, her boyfriend is married.
To help keep her apartment clean, Alice hires a cleaning lady named Shelly. Shelly has very bad burn scars on her face and body, giving her a rather horrific appearance. For that reason, Shelly comes off as a shy person.
Alice strikes up a friendship with Shelly. Not only is it a genuine friendship, it also takes her mind off of her affair.
It soon because obvious that Shelly has other intentions with Alice, aside from just cleaning her apartment. Shelly wants to “cleanse” Alice’s entire life, not matter what that entails.
What exactly does Shelly have in mind for Alice? Will Alice catch on before it’s too late? To find out you need to purchase or rent The Cleaning Lady. Look for it where ever movies are sold.
I am a horror movie “snob.” It takes a lot to impress me. Sadly, most horror movies today are either too predictable, poorly acted, or lack creativity. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Will it win an Academy Award? No. Did it keep my attention the entire length of the film? Yes. Did I find it entertaining? Yes. Trust me, if I find a film boring or just plain stupid I turn it off immediately.
I think the film was well acted. I am not familiar with the actors in this film, but I think the people chosen for this film were great choices. They all seemed very well suited for their roles.
Sometimes mentally unstable, crazy people are scarier than monsters, ghosts or aliens. When it comes to movies about monsters and the paranormal, their actions are almost predictable due to the hundreds of movies that came out prior to their film. When it comes to people who are a bit off kilter, there is no telling what they will do. Not only that, psycho people walk among us. They might look like they are OK and “normal,” but they really aren’t. That is what makes this even more creepy. Something like what plays out in this film COULD happen in real life. After all, you are more likely to encounter someone who is crazy than Godzilla or the aliens from the Independence Day films.
Overall I enjoyed the film. I think it had just enough going on to keep me interested, and at times, a bit on the edge of my seat. It kept me guessing until the very end as to how the film was going to end.
Coming from a “horror movie snob,” I give “two thumbs up” to this film.
There are some intense scenes, some of which can be a bit disturbing and unsettling to some people. This is NOT a “family friendly” film.
Below is the film’s trailer for your enjoyment.
