I have mentioned it many times in the past that I work with children. I am the site director for an after school program. I have children ages 5-12 in my care.
In our program we help with homework, do crafts, projects, outdoor time, gym time and more.
Entertaining children of such a vast age range is not always easy. Either the crafts and projects are “too young” or they are “too old” for the kids. It’s not always easy to find a happy medium.
Coloring seems to be something that all the kids love to do. I always have coloring pages, crayons and markers available for the kids to use. I have some kids that will color the entire time they are with me if I let them. I honestly don’t mind, but I do like the kids to engage with others as well as get some physical activities in before their parents pick them up.
Coloring is also a great indoor activity when the weather is not conducive to going outside, and when the gym is not available to us.
I have a fabulous activity kids of all ages can enjoy. As an added bonus, it’s a “boredom buster” too!
Let me introduce you to The Coloring Table. The Coloring Table takes coloring a simple coloring page or coloring book to a whole new level.
Color in the Lines. Think Outside the Box!
The Coloring Table offers a variety of reusable fabric tablecloths, placemats, and pillowcases that turn into a canvas; it’s an easy, mess-free craft with simple materials.
The smooth, cotton-blend fabric is 100% machine-washable and wrinkle-free, uniquely crafted with a patented durable laminate backing to protect any surface it is used on (no bleed guaranteed!). And this fabric is not sold or offered anywhere else.
Color with fabric markers for a lasting keepsake or with washable markers, such as Washable Crayola Markers, for multiple uses.
A relaxing form of self-expression, it stimulates creativity while promoting a range of benefits, and it’s fun for all ages, with themes and seasonal designs to spark imaginations.
What a FUN idea! I have seen “color your own” products before, such as tote bags and t-shirts, but never a table cloth, placemat or pillow case. I especially love that it can be washed and reused again and again.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE that The Coloring Table has tablecloths with Thanksgiving and Christmas themes (in addition to other themes). As a child, I remember how bored I used to be visiting relatives at Thanksgiving time and waiting around to eat while the adults watched football. It’s one thing if it’s your own home where you have your toys to play with, but when you are visiting others, that option is not available to you.
I remember my kids used to be bored having Thanksgiving dinner with relatives. I brought along coloring books, crayons and a few small toys to keep them busy.
I LOVE the idea of letting kids color their own Thanksgiving tablecloth that they can enjoy their holiday meal on afterwards. What fun! I wish something like this was available when I was a kid.
I feel the same way about visiting relatives at Christmas time too.
The Coloring Table was kind enough to send me one of their tablecloths to check out for myself. I received to review their food themed tablecloth.
The food themed tablecloth features steak, donuts, pretzels, coffee/hot cocoa, fruit slices, bread and even non-food items like flowers and more.
The tablecloth is made exceptionally well. It’s a nice quality. I was expecting something thinner, but this is a decent weight.
The images on the tablecloth are large enough to use regular markers. You don’t need fine tip markers. I like that because at work we have normal markers, and we use washable ones, which is perfect.
I didn’t unfold the entire tablecloth because my dining room table is round (the tables at work are rectangle). I also didn’t want to color on it yet because my “game plan” is to set this up on the first day of school on one of the cafeteria tables, along with the markers, so that students can sit down and start coloring right away. Unlike a single coloring page, this tablecloth can open up dialogue between students as I’m sure they will be talking to each other, and moving around the table to color specific things.
We also do not have a washer and dryer, so I didn’t want to color on it because I’d have to take it to the laundromat to wash it off before school starts.
What I am planning on doing is bringing this to work (two weeks from now), let the kids color it, take photos of the kids enjoying it (with their faces blurred out) and upload those photos to this post. So please bookmark this post and come back to see what it looks like when it’s been colored.
I don’t plan on washing it until it’s fully colored, (or close to it). Plus I love that I can wash it and the kids can start all over again, and I can use it year after year.
I think these products make great gifts. I also think they would be fun to do at a party (have children color their own placemats to take home with them afterwards).
