I am a fifty-something year old woman. My husband is the same age as me (just a couple of months older). We both love to color. That’s right… we color! I am not ashamed to admit that. Neither is my husband. He’ll even color at work if he’s bored and there is nothing to do.
We prefer to color “kiddie” coloring books. Adult color books have images that are just too complicated to color, and most require fine tipped markers or colored pencils. We prefer to color with crayons.
It’s a long standing tradition for me to gift my husband a brand new box of Crayola crayons (the 64-count with the built in sharpener) each year for Christmas. The tradition actually started with me when I was a child. “Santa” used to always give me a brand new box of crayons in my stocking, along with a new coloring book or two, an orange, and apple and a few things of candy.
I work with children. We have markers, crayons and colored pencils available. I still opt to color with crayons (I bring my own box of crayons due to COVID).
Recently I was introduced to a really cute crayon idea – one that I think would make a great holiday gift and/or stocking stuffer (it’s also a great year-round gift). They are personalized crayons from a company called The Crayon House. It’s a shop found on the popular Etsy website (I shop on Etsy all the time).
The Crayon House makes personalized crayons. They can make your child’s name in colorful, useable crayons.
The personalized crayons from The Crayon House features a variety of colors in each piece. That means your child can color and draw using just one crayon. They just need to rotate the crayon piece to the color they want to use. You can also come up with cool, color blends by using two (or more) side-by-side colors at the same time.
The Crayon House was kind enough to send me a personalized crayon set. My name is Kimberly, which is kind of a long name. That didn’t matter. The Crayon House was able to make me a colorful set of crayons.
The name crayon set came in a really nice box that can be used for safe keeping when not in use (or you can toss them in with your other crayons if you wanted to).
I love it!
If you have a child or grandchild who loves to draw and color, imagine how their eyes would light up when they open a box and find rainbow colored crayons in their name. These crayons would make a great, and affordable, holiday gift. You could also gift these year-round too.
Here are some other examples.
Personalized crayons are great for both boys and girls. They are also a fun gift to give an adult who loves to color.
The personalized name crayons are less than $20.
The Crayon House also makes smaller, colorful crayons that would make great stocking stuffers, classroom gifts, and party favors.
Here are a few examples.
The party favors are sold in boxes of 40 pieces for around $15.00. You cannot get a more affordable party favor.
The Crayon House was kind enough to send me their heart shaped crayons to gift to the kids that I work with. WOW! You should have seen their faces when I gave the crayons to them. They thought they were so cool. Most of them tore into the package to use them right away.
The hearts have a “cut out” section in the middle. Not only does it add to the lovely design, but it also helps little hands to hold on to them better (all crayons have a waxy feel to them – even the brand name ones – and they can be “slippery” which is why they have paper wrappers on them).
