Now streaming on Hulu and Prime Video is a new animated holiday film called The Night Before Christmas in Wonderland.
The film stars Gerard Butler, Emilia Clarke and Simone Ashley.
Here is the film’s official synopsis;
St Nick (Gerard Butler) receives a delayed letter on Christmas Eve from the Princess of Hearts. He and his dedicated team of reindeer set off to Wonderland where they’re greeted by the mean and miserable Queen of Hearts (Emilia Clarke) who hates all things Christmas… especially presents! Can St Nick, aided by Alice (Simone Ashley), the Mad Hatter and March Hare, show the Queen the true meaning of Christmas and save the day before it’s too late?
The animated film features original music and songs written by long-time Robbie Williams collaborator Guy Chambers and Grammy Award winning songwriter Amy Wadge.
I’m always hesitant to watch movies with a lot of songs in it, especially films geared towards families and children. Sometimes the songs are just too silly or “painful” to listen to. I am happy to report that I enjoyed almost all the songs in this film. They are brief and they have catchy beats.
I LOVE the animation in this film. It’s not “high tech” or 3D. Instead it looks a lot like storybook illustrations came to life. That is because the movie is based on a book by the same title from Carys Bexington and Kate Hindley. The book is available on Amazon and other book sellers.
Many children’s book rhyme. This movie rhymes too! If you pay attention to what the characters are saying in the movie you’ll notice that they have rhyming words. I love that!
This truly is a book that came to life. I appreciate that the film’s makers stayed true to not only the character images, but also the text from the book.
The characters in this film are British. They do have accents but they are easy to understand.
The characters are very likeable. The little elves are ADORABLE and the reindeer are funny.
I can’t belive Gerard Butler can sing. I never knew that about him. He’s pretty good too.
This is a fun movie that is a bit different than other holiday films. I love that they combined Santa characters (Santa, elves, reindeer) and the characters from Alice and Wonderland (Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat…). The film brought two worlds to life.
I’m a sucker for a good holiday movie. I’m going to add this film to our family’s holiday film list. We’re still going to watch all the classics, but this movie is going to be a great addition.
If you subscribe to Hulu, or subscribe to Amazon Prime Video, you can view this film. I’ve provided non-affiliate links to both if you would like more information.
