I wanted to specify that this post is more so for ladies than it is gentleman (I have male readers). I don’t want to exclude anyone, specially if my male readers have wives or girlfriends. I just wanted to give them a “heads up.”
I’m going to talk about something somewhat personal – bras.
A little backstory…
I have been overweight all my life. When I was younger I had big boobs. Not huge, but they were a “C” cup.
I had weight loss surgery back in 92′ and lost almost 200 pounds in a little over a year. That was fantastic, but there was a downside to the weight loss – saggy skin and my boobs dropped down to my knees (not literally, but you get the idea). They looked like pancakes. They were more just loose skin and not actual breasts.
In 94′ I had a tummy tuck, hernia repair and a breast reduction. I went from having saggy pancake boobs to firmer boobs, but they were an “A” cup instead of the “C” cup I used to have. Unbeknownst to me at that time the surgeon could have taken fat from my other places on my body and transferred it to my breast area, giving me back my “C” cup boobs naturally (without the need for an implant). Ugh! I wish he would have told me that BEFORE surgery because I would have had him do that. After surgery it was too late. Sigh…
Since 94′ I have been having the hardest time finding a bra that fits me. My problem is that my “width” (the measurement around my body) is that of a plus size woman, but most plus size women have fuller/larger breasts. My breasts are an “A” cup, and it’s hard to find my cup size with my measurement size. For that reason I wear a tank top in place of a bra.
I have found some non-cup sports bras that I have tired to wear over the years, but they are never really that comfortable. The bands are either way too tight or the elastic rolls around, making it so I am constantly having to tug at it or un-roll the band.
I was sent to review some bras from a company called The Breast Whisperer. I know, it’s an odd sounding name. When I think “breast whisperer” I think of someone who can communicate with breast, just like Cesar Millan can communicate with dogs.
Please note, I am not sharing photos of myself in the bras for obvious reasons.
The Breast Whisperer Bra is the invention of a highly respected plastic surgeon and internationally recognized fashion designer, who had the mission to build a seamless bra that can be worn all day and all night. Discover what it’s like to wear a bra so comfortable, you feel like you’re not wearing anything at all.
The Breast Whisperer has bras for regular breasts, as well as breasts breast augmentations and other breast surgeries. I have bras for regular breasts, even though I did have a breast lift decades ago.
The bras themselves look a lot like a sports bra the way they look.
The bra has a racerback. I wasn’t sure how I’d like that. I am used to regular straps, but I can see why the brand opted with this type of back. I think it provides more support and it makes strap-slippage a thing of the past (I hate it when a strap slips into view).
According to the brand, the bra is;
- A perfect fit with anti-gravity effect
- Ultra comfortable with hollow, breathable yarns
- A full support nighttime bra
- Seamless under clothes
- Features a racerback shape to relieve pressure
- Is made with medical grade 95% Nylon and 5% Spandex / Elastane
These bras are designed for both daytime AND nighttime wear, so you know comfort is important. After all, who would want to sleep in an uncomfortable bra? I personally don’t sleep in a bra (I never have), but I know people who do.
I was surprised that these bras fit me so well. As a plus size woman I was afraid they would be too snug and dig into my skin. That was not the case at all. I find them very comfortable to wear.
I know some women are quick to remove their bras the moment they step foot in their home, because most bras are not that comfortable. I feel like this bra would eliminate the desire to remove the bra ASAP when you get home. This bra is so comfortable (for me) that I forget I’m even wearing it. It just feels like a layer of clothing.
The material its made with is soft, stretchy and lightweight. I haven’t worn this bra in the heat of summer, but I can only assume it wouldn’t be so bad as other types of bras.
I love that there are no underwires. That was the #1 thing I hated most about wearing bras when I was younger – those darn wires! I hated them so much that I would cut them out of the bras I wore.
I also appreciate that there are no cups with this bra, meaning it should fit an “A” cup as comfortably as someone with a “D” cup. At least I would assume that.
These bras are available in different sizes from small through 3X. They are also available in a variety of colors;
- Black
- Blue
- Coral
- Charcoal
- Beige
I have black and beige since they go with the clothes that I wear.
These are not necessarily “sexy” bras, like the kind you would buy from Victoria Secret. This is more of an everyday, no frills, utility type of bra. It’s fine for work, play and just hanging out at home.
So far I am loving this bra. I am happy to FINALLY find a bra that I can wear with my shape/size – one that is comfortable.
