You may or may not have heard about the new DC show on the CW called Stargirl. If you have, you already know how great it is and you’re familiar with the array of fascinating characters.
But if you haven’t, you are certainly in for a treat. Stargirl is about a young teenage girl and high school student who suddenly finds her normal life turned upside down. She has to figure out how to navigate the new world into which she has been thrust. While doing so, she finds herself surrounded by both friends and foes.
1. Stargirl
In this series executive-produced by Geoff Johns, Stargirl, more commonly known as Courtney, starts off as a typical teenage girl. But then her mother gets married and moves her across the country, uprooting her entire life. It is in her new home with her new family that her journey begins. At first, Stargirl only has to worry about figuring out who her friends are, and who they aren’t, in school. But soon she has to learn how to tell ally from foe while learning how to fight crime and save the world. It is the normal, everyday struggles she faces, like high school and friends and boys, juxtaposed with the vast and dangerous world of heroes and villains, and how Stargirl navigates it all, which make this series so fascinating.
2. Cindy
Cindy is an interesting character. At first, she comes across as nothing more than your average high school popular girl, the bully who always gets her way. But there is much more to Cindy than there appears at first glance. Cindy is the child of a long-time enemy of Stargirl’s, a fact that ends up putting Stargirl in a very serious, life-threatening predicament.
3. Pat Dugan
Pat Dugan, Played by Luke Wilson, is far more complex than one might imagine at first glance. He is Stargirl’s stepfather and, as far as she is concerned, nothing more. But she soon realizes that her stepfather has a complex, adventure-filled past. Pat plays a central role in Stargirl’s journey to becoming a superhero, and the two are finally able to bond over something they have in common.
Stargirl is a great show and, if you’re not watching it, you’re missing out! Like any good show, what makes this show so great is the characters and the actors who portray them.
