The holiday season is in full swing. Have you finished holiday shopping yet? I have a few more gifts to get for my kids, co-workers and my father.
If you are looking for a fun and unique gift for the child in your life (aged 6+), I have a fun gift idea for you. It’s the new Big Heads toys from the brand World Tech Toys. World Tech Toys is known for their expertise radio control vehicles. They have remote controlled cars, trucks, helicopters, boats, planes and more. This year they have added a new product line – Big Heads.
I have to say, these toys are pretty cool. I was sent some to review, and I took them to work for my “work kids” to play with and they had a blast. More on that later.
Here is some information about this fun new toy line.
Each Big Heads features two propellers and an internal coaxial motor system, which keeps the toy stable as it hovers in the air. Big Heads respond dynamically to a player’s hands when they try to “catch” them. Upon detecting a hand underneath via its patented infrared sensor, the motor speeds up and rockets the Big Head back into the air.
This style of play promotes hand-eye coordination while getting kids active as they work to keep Big Heads in the air. And, thanks to the lightweight yet durable material, it’s always a safe and easy landing.
Big Heads includes an internal rechargeable battery and a USB charging cable. Simply plug it into any USB port for a quick recharge. This Walmart exclusive toy line is currently available for ages 6 and up.
Big Heads are available in popular designs such as Spider-Man, TMNT Leonardo, Optimus Prime, Captain America, Bumble Bee, and many more.
I wanted to take these toys outside with my “work kids,” but the weather has been so cold here in New York. Thankfully we have the cafeteria and gym in our school we can use, which has very high ceilings. That is a good thing because these toys fly HIGH up in the air. I was very impressed as to how high up they can go.
Each toy needs to be charged before it can take flight. It comes with a charging cable, but you need to have one of those “blocks” to plug it into if you want to charge it through an outlet. You can also charge it on your computer. Thankfully we had a block.
To use the Big Heads toy, turn the toy on and place it on the palm of your hand (keep your fingers flat). Next, press the included remote control and what the propellers start spinning and the toy take flight. It’s that easy!
The Big Heads toy will go straight up in the air, then it will start to come down. To make it go back up, simply put your hand below it and it will make the toy go back up in the air.
I told the kids at work that there is no need to actually touch the toy when it comes down – just put their hand under it. A few kids didn’t listen and would slap the Big Heads upward with their hand. There was a few times they caused it to crash to the floor, but these are hearty toys, so I just had to pick them back up and send them back up in the air.
These toys did come with extra propeller parts, just in case.
Here is a brief video of one of them in action. I had to crop out the kids because they are not my kids, they are my “work kids.”
Here are some photos as well.
I put circles around the two Big Heads that the kids were playing with at that time. I have other Big Heads toys, but I was only using two in the cafeteria. When we get to go outside with them I’ll take out the other ones. I just didn’t want the kids bumping into things in the cafeteria, since they were too focused on looking up.
The kids has so much fun with these that I had to take them home to re-charge them.
I should have kept track of how long the charge lasted for. There was so much going on at that time that I wasn’t keeping track. No worries. I already re-charged them (I did it when I got home from work) so they can have fun with them again today.
I have found these on Amazon for about $20+, which is not a bad price at all. They are very affordable.
The brand has other designs, and plenty of “girly” designs too.
