I’m far from a perfect person. No one is perfect after all. I do try my best every day to not only be a good person and show kindness towards other people, but I also make concious choices when it comes to the things I do and the items that I purchase. I try and buy products that are better choices for our planet. That means I buy products that are sustainable, recyclable, and where workers are paid fair wages.
When it comes to better for our planet products, I would never think about towels. Yes, towels. Towels are found in almost every home around the world, plus hotels, spas and similar places. Thinking about that, it would make perfect sense if they were made in sustainable ways.
The brand Thriae (pronounced “three-eye”), brings ethically sourced towels, blankets, shawls and more to consumers.
Thriae’s towels are crafted from 100% Turkish cotton using traditional methods that consume less water and energy, making them a sustainable choice from production to end use. Their lightweight, durable design reduces the need for frequent replacements, lowering environmental impact. Plus, by supporting Thriae, you’re also helping to preserve the craftsmanship of Turkish towel artisans and contributing to ethical consumption.
To show their gratitude to our pollinating friends who give us so much, a portion of our profits is donated to The Bee Conservancy.
I love that this brand not only makes ethically sourced, sustainable products, but they also donate to The Bee Conservancy. Bees are extremely important to our planet, and they are rapidly declining.
The owner of Thriae wanted to bring ethically sourced Turkish towels (peshtemal) to the US. She is half Turkish and half American, so bringing these amazing towels to U.S. consumers helps her to bring the best of both worlds into her life.
While there are many options for peshtemals in the marketplace, purchasing from Thriae brings with it the knowledge that your products come from carefully vetted and ethically sourced small businesses. This helps to support smaller ateliers, run by families who have been in the weaving and looming business for generations, and helps to keep the local economy alive.
The brand was kind enough to send me a throw blanket and towel to review.
The towel is a great size. It’s larger than other towels that I own.
It’s so nice I can easily use this as a throw blanket and not just a towel. You can also use it as a shawl. It even mentions the other uses on the brand’s website. To be honest, my first thought when I opened the package is that it had to be a throw blanket, not a towel. But the brand’s site does say it’s also a towel.
I love the texture of this towel. It feels like something you’d get at an expensive, luxury hotel or spa. It’s definitely not your average department store towel.
In the above photo I have to towel folded in half on my coffee table. You can see just how large this towel is.
I’ve used this as a towel a few times. It washes well, but I leave it over the shower door to air dry. I don’t want the nice tassels to get all clumped up and knotted in the dryer.
I also received to review a really nice blanket. Sadly, the photos do NOT do this justice. It’s so much nicer in person.
This blanket is a great size for a twin size bed, but it can also be used on a full size bed, as well as on larger beds on those chilly nights. This is also a nice light weight blanket for those nights when it’s cool and a heavy blanket would be too much.
You can see the “waffle weave” design. This gives it a very nice texture/feel to it.
This blanket is on my son’s bed. Our cats love it just as much as he does (ha ha).
This blanket also has the pretty fringe on it.
The color is closer to the photo on the bed. The above photo was taken in a room with horrible lighting (our entire home has horrible lighting).
Products such as these make me feel good. I love knowing where products came from and how they were made. This is why I am not a fan of buying things off places like Wish, Temu or Shein – because I don’t feel they are ethically made, nor are the workers paid a fair wage.
These are high quality products at reasonable prices.
The products available from Thriae would make great gifts this holiday season too.
