Growing up I didn’t have my own room until I was 16 years old. In fact, that was my Sweet 16 birthday present – my own room. Up until that point I had to share a tiny room with my sister. We had a trundle bed (one bed slides out and pops up from the other bed). Since there was no room to pull the beds apart I had to sleep with the bed down (floor level). That way my sister and I were not sleeping side-by-side (she’s 8 years older than me).
When I finally got my own room I was on “Cloud Nine.” Granted my room was a walk-in closet (literally!) but it was my own space none-the-less.
My room was teeny tiny as you could imagine, but there was room for a twin bed (no headboard/foot board – just the bed it’s self), a desk and a piece of furniture to put the TV on. The foot space was probably two feet by six feet. That’s OK. I made it work. Best of all the space was all mine. I could decorate it how ever “I” wanted to (prior to that I wasn’t allowed to decorate the room I shared with my sister – it was her room, I was just a long time guest).
Decorating a room is something that most kids enjoy doing – most especially girls. When my daughter was little decorating the room was not a priority to her. Once she hit the ‘tween years she suddenly wanted zebra print bedding, posters all over the wall and plenty of hot pink and animal print things every where.
Adding your own touch to your personal space is something we all want to do at one time or another.
If you have a ‘tween or teen who is looking to upgrade their room, or give it a fresh new look, check out what RoomLookz has to offer. RoomLookz turns “drab” into “fab.”
Rich details in each carefully created piece are both affordable (from $3.99 up to $24.99) and adorable. We have a few pieces from the RoomLookz collection – the lamp, white dry erase board and clear gem magnets.
We love the lamp! The lamp is awesome. You don’t have to plug it in, which is helpful. My daughter can tote the lamp around the room to where ever she needs light the most. They do require three C size batteries.
The lamp can be turned on with the button (seen in front). You can also set it to be motion activated so it turns on when you enter the room. That is a great feature to have. I wish more lamps were motion activated like that.
I would love to have one of these lamps for MY desk.
We were going to hang the dry erase magnetic board in my daughter’s room but it wouldn’t work where she initially wanted to put it. She also thought about putting it on the back of the door but we couldn’t figure out how to attach it without destroying the door.
I purchased some strong magnets and glued it to the back of the magnetic dry erase board and we use it on the refrigerator instead. Our daughter uses it to remind us when she’s working and what days she needs a ride to/from her classes or to/from work.
We also have the clear gem magnets. I love how they add sparkle to the fridge too. They have decent magnets and can hold up business cards, papers and coupons.
I love the fun designs and color combinations. They are fun and would brighten up any room.
